Leo seems to be an interesting guy. On one hand I envy his experiences traveling, on the other hand, however, I find the ways in which he traveled -- the lack of funds and the rough accommodations -- to be entirely unappealing. I'm a retired firefighter/paramedic for one of America's largest cities, so the medic stories (and Leo's fire dept. legacy) were fascinating to me... I'll definitely check out the books. Thanks for sharing... that was three hours well spent.
Mike Drop & You as a Host have really grown & evolved into an awesome Podcast experience! Really look forward to new guests each week & watching past episodes in between.
I know how he feels about being called a terrorist. I've been called a baby killer several times. Funny part is I was in a medevac unit. Lol we saved babies.
Holy shit. I can’t even fucking work listening to this. Marcus luttrell saved my fucking life and I love listening to his story from different perspectives. Thank you guys for this.
@@jadenking4268 the real video of the operation is on line graphic and all gruesome, you can even hear Murphy screaming for Marcus to help, the firefight involved 7 Taliban only maybe 10 not 30-50 +. Marcus even admitted before he threw his gun down and didn’t fight while hearing Murphy scream for his help. Just google search all the lies involved and how even many marines & rangers dispute the After action report. Also the real Video & explanation on how bad the Op was is on Reddit & on RU-vid of people who have actual experience & were there disputing the lone survivor movie & Marcus’s bullshit story he made up. This isn’t the first time in that year frame the Navy has lied & given people who didn’t deserve prestigious medals said medals. Look up the John Chapman story and how the Navy tried to cover up what they did by leaving him behind & trying to block both of his Medal of Honors.
@@AmorFatiMementoMori I’ve also heard that there were only a handful of enemy fighters and not the hundreds or so ppl believe there to be. Even so, when the enemy has you that pinned down and out maneuvered, it’s tough to really go back and recall exact details or facts that otherwise would have been enhanced, maybe not intentionally, because of your adrenaline and fight for survival at that time, so I don’t really fault Marcus for that. As far as him not helping his guys out, I’m sure Marcus did all he could in that situation while also trying to protect himself. Only he really knows what happens. I think there’s a large majority of veterans out there who are either jealous or resentful towards him because that story got so much publicity. Who knows they could be right, or not. We’ll never really know the full story. It’s a tragedy what happened anyways. All we can now is remember and commemorate the lost.
@@BostonsF1nest nah bro he straight up lied that’s why people are pissed, he was also arrogant along with them not wanting to accept help from the Marines who were very accustomed to that valley & who had many gunfights upon that valley, they even ignored the Marines advice on bringing better communication and the reason people are angry is because when the rangers came to save him he told them “I can’t believe I’m being saved by a bunch of fucking Rangers”, he also fucked over Gulab The man who saved him, there are many photos online & reports of him faking & lying about his injuries. Gulab even stated Marcus had 11 full magazines when Gulab saved him which points to him not helping his team at all. There is an interview of Marcus literally stating from the start he put his gun down and covered his ears because he couldn’t stand hearing Murphy scream his name for help all while knowing his friend was being massacred. He only tried to protect himself, he wasn’t ready to die on that hill with his friends & there are many reports, & his own testimony that he didn’t do anything but cower away. I feel bad for him but his lies are the reason why he deserves to be exposed. If you want me to send you all the credible evidence I can on how much of a fraud he is & that movie is. Even John McPhee a CAG ( delta force ) Sniper, Sergeant Major stated the movie was complete bullshit & lies along with American Sniper. The full story is online like I stated along with the real graphic video of what really happened. The reason this got exposed is also because an Actual Battle hardened Ranger was there and was the one who was insulted by Marcus’s words & lack of appreciation for them saving him.
@@AmorFatiMementoMori I’ve read the same things, but then we hear these seemingly stand-up guys who were there, recounting their versions of the story and nobody disputes it. not even in a backhanded kind of way. I’m way late, but just listened to Robert O’Neil on Team Never Quit and he seemed in lock step with Luttrell the whole segment.
Cops need to quit the power bullshit and do their job. And if it’s their job to push paper, PUSH THE PAPER WITHOUT YOUR BS BIAS!!! That type of petty BS is what turns normal people against them.
Had to pause it a second and give y'all a dog story I know. About 30 year's ago my friend was walking down the road and a K9 cop had stopped behind my friend and was yelling for him to stop. He didn't he kept walking because he had headphones on and didn't hear him and he let his dog go. The dog ripped a chunk of my friends ass off. He had to go to the ER. Had lot's and lots of stiches. His dad was an attorney and sued the city...he won because he was temporarily deaf due to the headphones....had it been a deaf guy he wouldn't have heard him either. Part of the lawsuit was to teach the officers that people can be deaf or temporarily deaf...and not to let that happen again. Anyway thought I'd tell that story. Have a great day.
Leo, hats off! well done. Your plan for the daughter are great! Your lifestyle sounds great! Mike, good on ya for bringing Leo onto the podcast. 70 year old vet, adventures pretty much over.
As a retired firefighter/paramedic, the thing that I remember most was being a spectator early on and then becoming a man of action. Seeing bad shit is overwhelming at first to the senses then somewhere it all kicks in that you are fucking 911. Fucking 912 doesn’t exist. Get busy! Lol
That private that made the call about the cash over the radio ended up being my squad leader. I remember that story, but never thought I’d hear it from another perspective.
Being a physician, I totally agree with your attitude, we are not required to save everyone, them or us, we choose Us. I appreciate your honesty, real stories from a real dude.
Mike Ritland and Shawn Ryan are the 2 best shows on these platforms. The amount of time and effort is second to none. Keep at it and we all enjoys the views and talks.
Can't believe hw uch you have done and experienced t help people, now out there living lives that you helped o preserve for them.how could anyone have known you would have affected so many lives in s many ways? The nation's pride in you and the men & women who served with you.
Appa Loosa who in the 2a community is gunna beat his ass??? Certainly not you and anyone you know. You know he was an actual pro fighter right? He also killed people on the pro level as well....you should just stop. He doesn't owe you dorks anything. Cry somewhere else over another mans opinion.
Awesome show as always! Fat Thor comment was killer and resonating. On a side note Utah has a shit ton of blm places no one will question why you are there. Your show is rad, thanks man!
love that i found this podcast. Around the2:30 mark Mike says he would like to goto a place and just be left alone. There are two kinds a people left in N America 1) people that want to be left alone 2) people that won't leave the people in category 1, THE FUCK ALONE!
Was scrolling through pics of tier 1 mals and i noticed in a couple of the dog pics that some of the dogs had what looked to be titanium inserted teeth in certain spots in their mouth. Dose anyone know if that's a thing. If so that's bad ass
Has anyone ever interviewed Mike on why and how he got the bug and talent to do these fuckin killer interviews? Like on par with Howard Stern pulling really interesting experiences out of real bad ass people. Cheers!
Mike, you should make a T-shirt that has a picture of a dog eating a curly fry and on the back it just says “Forgive my ignorance, I’ve never unwound a testicle before” 😂🤣
I understand ur point but do me a favor watch London Real podcast and tim ferriss podcast with him and let me know if u dont change ur mind a little about him I mean no shade toward u honestly them 2 made me the fan I am
John Murphy I've heard a bunch of people say it's almost impossible to get time with tim...Andy stumpf said he's gotta schedule a couple months out at least and not for long periods of time. Mike doesn't like doing zoom or remote podcasts so tim would have to make time for it and apparently that's not easy for him.
Mike needs to start interviewing ex porn stars. It's right up his alley. He would love to hear there war stories about being attacked by giant one eyed snakes
Gathered it was because of his Dad being a career fireman and becoming one himself for a year and a half, exposed to the environment and witnessing field medic components. Mentioned being active in sports, hunting, hiking 12-14 miles with his Dad followed by 9/11 all as “catalysts”. Also includes Bob Vaughn as a HUGE influence during his brief time on the FD when Bob was transitioning into the FD who told him to be a Ranger Medic.. learning about 91W medics and tried researching the 18D course, etc.. which intrigued him. @@NODAK9 thanks for the response. The only weird things is that his mentor was a PJ and later down the road he tried to become one, but I understand your response. Both great careers!👍
Saluting Mike for yet another awesome show, interview, you name it this my Top 3 Podcasts thus far. Terry Houin's was an incredible one and i can beat my job this is going to be an incredible one as well. Hooyah to you brother.
I'm obsessed with ORWs so anytime I get any new info I'm all ears...I read his (Marcus's) debrief on SOFREP as well as every other book, video, documentary, speech, newspaper article, etc.
Thing i would love to see in 2021: Tu Lam (Ronin Tactics) as guest on mike drop 😀 And of course the return of Mike glover, Shawn ryan and Kevin owens 😃
Leo, if you travel with your family... I hope you could share your experiences! I think many people, like me, would enjoy following your adventures. (If you cared to share). Best of luck to you and your family.
Tolkien and a few friends created a gentlemans book club, they started thinking about middle earth, then ww1 broke out and all Tolkien's friends died, he felt it was up to him to continue there legacy that gave him a real drive and alot of pressure to create middle earth.
You can completely stop drug use the pain just has to grow to a place where you cannot tolerate it...... this is a great episode as per usual mike you always do such a great fucming job I hope one day I get to meet you
Hey mike, amazing podcast. Thank you so much for your service, both in the military and in providing these episodes. 2 ideas for guests that I think would be great: 1) Someone from federal law enforcement (DEA, Marshals, etc). There is very little information out there on federal LE, far less than the military. It would be great to honor their service and also to give people aspiring to that sort of career something to look towards. 2) On the Shawn Ryan show, you mentioned that on your deployment in the invasion of Iraq, your platoon took a regular Navy guy who volunteered when someone quit and who went to the teams after that deployment. I think you said he’s still in but it would be amazing to have him on. These are just a couple ideas. Thanks again!
one of the most interesting people ever. His encounter with that australian is hilarious. Wonder where he would be if he stayed a firefighter. Love that 2 spec op veterans quote leroy jenkins.
