Well done Cory, Ranger and SF medic here. I am a NP working for the VA. In my 20 plus years working for the VA I have never ran into a Ranger medic,a very rare species. I have met SF medics, but not Ranger. Think about working for the VA especially after you get your PA. You can put your military time into your retirement. I am 63 and still know the Ranger Creed. @@thegreatdogzilla5855 SF Medics have a bit broader scope of practice. Ranger Medics do more door kicking. SF Medics do more clinical skills(they are basically the doctor, dentist, and veterinarian for locals when they deploy. Think of Ranger medics being your top 1% bad ass medic, and SF medics being a bad ass field doctor. (SF medics can do the same stuff Ranger medics do, its just that Ranger Bat. Is more high tempo)

as a U.S. Marine IV'E ALWAYS respected the Army Ranger's high standards and I can relate to the NEVER QUIT and the DONT DROP FROM RUNS type mentality it's literally like DONT QUIT AND BRING SHAME TO THE RANGERS! that's why I miss the Military. it's intense but that's what we asked for.

This is a great video. You guys came after I retired. The mind set is a key component to Regiment. Best job I had. I was in 2nd and 3rd Bat. The intensity of SOCM and Regiment was crazy. The competition driven environment is a monster. Respect to this channel for taking the time to give people a glimpse of the culture and life of a Ranger Medic. When I was in charge of the Pre-SOCMs I used to tell them...you must sacrifice comfort and the nice things of life in order to ultra focus on the mission and the job you are required to do mentally and physically distractions are not acceptable....if you are not willing to do that then this may not be the place for you. This is the exact path I want to take. I've never pushed myself as hard as I'm going to need to in order to get through RASP and SOCM, but I really think I can do it. I'm not ridiculously smart or anything, but I kept good grades in high school when I tried and even though I'm not where I need to be physically in order to join, I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm going to keep working at it. I'm constantly thinking about this career and I know it's what I want. Even if I don't spend my entire military career in the Regiment, I really want to experience it and I think it'll help me throughout the rest of my life the way you guys explained it in this video

A lot has to do on the individual too. There are different expectations for infantry and medics. I got away with a lot of stuff, new 11Bs wouldn’t because I was the medic. But we had a junior medic who wasn’t squared away and ended up getting kicked out. His experience was much different from most other medics I knew. I think a big correlation, is by the time a new medic shows up, he’s been in the army 2+ years, training. New infantry guys have been in a couple months. The error rate will therefore be much greater for them.

Guys/Rangers, I have a question. Do basic training, AIT, and SOCM count towards your time on the contract (4 years)? I ask because I’m about to graduate with my bachelors and I’d like to join as a 68W with an option 40 contract…I am interested in going to PA school (physician assistant) asap so I want to only do 4 years. If the pipeline is 2 years for Ranger medic….is it possible to complete the pipeline and only do 2 years in regiment??

im 20 in ait sam h. for 68w right now. my acft is 530, but i decided not to sign Rasp Volunteer because i dont feel physically ready. My drill sergants think i should do it, but I still have a lot of work to put in. My plan is to get paramedic level education to be a stud at socom and get physically fit to push 580+ on my acft. I want to prepare well and take my time in doing it right the first time. I joined the army instead of the marines just to have a career in the regiment, and even better as a medic. Anyone have any thoughts on my decision?

Hey what ended up happening? I was always told Ranger is for the young guys. However, the Special Force "Green Berets" took all kinds and had good success of older men successfully completing the SF Q Course and the 18D Medical Sergeant MOS pipeline. Air Force Special Warfare also takes men ages 39-41 to become "PJs" Pararescueman and attend SW A&S or Assessment & Selection. Those may be options if the recruiters are giving you a hard time for Enlistment to RASP.

I hope this isn’t a dumb question but I can’t find a clear answer online and I feel like my recruiter and MEPS are giving me shotty info. I am correctable 20/20 in one eye and 20/25 in the other and got DQd from my 18x contract I had reserved. Do you know if it’s possible to get a 68w with Option 40 with this eyesight? That’s wild to me because I don’t have the greatest vision, as you can see I wear glasses. I don’t know why 20/25 vision would be a DQing aspect to any MOS.

I'm an Active Duty 68W. I've reached out to both the 75th's recruiting as well as the Ranger liasson at SOCM. The recruiters are saying I need to complete SOCM before I can apply since I'm an import, but the ranger liasson at SOCM is saying I need to complete RASP before I can apply. Any advice on where to go from here?
@samuraisam6781
@samuraisam6781 3 года назад
Its my understanding imports somehow need SOCM before RASP now. My best advice would be to pick up your Tab, then either somehow get SOCM, or go to RASP and from there they might let you in, or you might have to reclass. If it's Ranger you want, you'll be willing to reclass, if its SOCM you want, drop an SFAS packet and go 18D.
@JasonOwensYT
