I really hope people realize that this is a special time for motu collectors. Just like the original Star Wars clone wars line with amazing figures and vehicles that went away all too soon. This line will eventually fade too. So soak it up enjoy those store hunting trips enjoy all the amazing product we’re getting and appreciate how lucky we are to have the best toy line in 20 years available to us. And bring on snake mountain Mattel!!!!!!!!!
@@drwho9319 Nah, I think it's a safe bet to assume Origins will give us basically everything from the vintage line. It hasn't showed any signs of slowing down.
I can't see it fading any time soon to be honest and shows no particular sign of doing so. I think the Clone Wars line might be more compared to the MOTU 200x line maybe.
If We get a Snake Mountain I could be content with what we have. I still think Eternia is a stretch, I’d love one and would be happy to crowdfund through creations. It’s just a lot of plastic and a lot of box for a company to put out
Well it sounds like the license is gonna revert back to universal in 2023 so are they gonna be willing to partner with Mattel to make snake mountain happen…or moss man …the horde fright zone.. sy-klone…attack trak…dragon walker.???? There’s still a lot of amazing stuff yet to be produced and why wouldn’t they it’s just leaving money on the table unless they aren’t able to because they lose the license
Origins Roton was well thought out & well executed. Totally recognizable yet improved with a bonus nod to the model that you can take or leave. They Nailed It on this one.
The roton was hands down my favorite MOTU vehicle as a kid, I loved playing with that thing. Also, this toy is perfect for defining the words "need" and "want". I need an Origins Roton, but I want 10 Origins Rotons hahaha
I only just discovered that Roton was available from the Origins line a few days ago, and searched all over for somewhere to order it because Roton has always been one of absolute _favorite_ vehicles from Masters of the Universe. I finally realized that Wal-Mart was selling it, so I made what it said was a pre-order to arrive in October, and I decided that was fine, I could wait. I decided to check on my pre-order just a few minutes ago, only to discover that my "pre-order" had actually already been shipped and is arriving tomorrow, to my great joy! The Masters of the Universe: Origins line has been absolutely delightful and I have been trying to collect all of it, starting with He-Man and Skeletor last February. So far I have managed to amass 25 figures, every one of the mounts and vehicles released so far, and Castle Greyskull. I am gradually working to get all of them, especially focusing with the Evil Horde as soon as every Horde figure comes out; I am _really_ hoping that they release a Mantisaur for Hordak, and _really, really, really_ hope they release a Modulok figure! Just _imagine_ what they could do for Modulok using contemporary toy design techniques... they could make something _really special_ with a modern Modulok! It's slow-going since I'm disabled and live on a fixed budget, but it's just such a wonderful line I have to collect them, and I totally consider it to be worth it.
Great video. This was my first MOTU vehicle way back when. My parents hated the noise of course 🤣. Also the guns broke off pretty easily. Nice to see you have one in tact.
Same here! I was at a toy show over the weekend and found some MOTU vehicles. Couldn't believe how tiny the Wind Raider actually was. It's been so long since I held an original, the Origins version seemed to have rewritten my memories!
Same here on eastern shore of Md. I have wave 9 on preorder at BBST but rather find in store and save on shipping. But with gas still being high 4 $ isnt bad for more than one figure on shipping.
This roton is awesome. Got mine today after lusting for it since the mid 80's. I want to add that it reminded me of a beautiful Australian spider: The Missulena occatoria, AKA the red-headed mouse spider.
Very cool. Shame these Origins vehicles seem to hang around until they hit clearance at most places. Doesn't bode well for further vehicles. Just picked up an extra Stridor for $12 at Target.
I still have my Roton (along with all of my childhood MOTU toys), it was one I was always kinda surprised to have due to the "loud" clacking noise it made and yet my mother (who liked "quiet toys"!!!) saying I could buy it one day when we were out shopping in town (guess it was on a discount offer)! It's a fun vehicle and this Origins version captures the original well, with the Monogram extras making for nice alternate display options, and I also like (not mentioned in the video) the little control sticks for the driver to steer with - the original just had them kinda looking like they were steering with the guns. After a couple of misjudgements early on (such as that horrendous initial Origins He-Man face which nearly put me off of the entire line!), Origins is really nailing it with these toys. Retro and yet "as good as modern" at the same time.
Great pick ups! It's cool to see the new Roton in origins. I think the action features work really well. I like the Monagram set up too. I had that model as a kid. I hope we see more Origins Veichles to come👍
One of my favorite vehicles. I think I had the Monogram models. The ATTAK TRAK has the potential for four different ones. The original red one. The Filmation blue single TRAK plus the Filmation Soccer Mom version. Ahhh yeah! I LOVE it!
...That's three options there surely :D Is the fourth the orange variant of the original? (Then there's also the tan version one seen in a couple of second wave mini-comics, before the actual colour scheme had been finalised). The rarely seen Filmation blue Trak could be an easy and interesting variant colour indeed.

Great vehicle. Can't wait to find it. I just wish they would re-release some of the older waves, Still need most of waves 2 and 4 and I'm not paying the crazy secondary market prices.

It's a great toy! Found it earlier this week in San Diego. It has a plug for a flight stand I think. I'm surprised it didn't come with one or one of those little diorama bits like Stridor and Wind Raider. Seems like the villain vehicles don't? Anyway, it's understandable since we did got the Monogram Model Kit parts, those are great and make me want a second Roton.
Still trying to figure out what I wanna do with this one. Every Origins vehicle has eventually hit clearance, so I think I'd be safe playing the long game. But all the clearance sales I see tend to be at Target, and apparently this is a Walmart exclusive. I passed on one I saw a couple weeks ago and haven't seen any more. Hopefully they'll be easy to find in the coming weeks.
Vehicles and playsets are where Origins really shine. The figures are nice enough but the face sculpts always look a little soft and less defined than the vintage toys. I also have the vintage and Classics figures so don't particularly need Origins which is a middle ground between the two. But the vehicles in Origins have been the best we've had from MOTU. Even better than the Classics vehicles.
I do agree about the 'soft' face sculpts, although I do feel they have improved slightly, the earliest couple of waves being the worst casualties. I also feel they're nailing the faces better after the early waves, where they were kinda doing their own thing (such as the IMO terrible early Origins He-Man face). I have all my vintage MOTU figures but I love what Origins is giving us - especially in cases like the Lords of Power versions (I always wanted figures looking like this as a child). Classics are very good, but they always feel kinda more display orientated to me; I like that Origins have the authentic action figure kinda look to them. :)
Roton might fix some flaws, but if you want to display it with the canopy, it has introduced a new flaw: the driver can't see what's in front of him. But then again, almost nobody will put that thing on.
