The acetone worked. I added a lead ingot to the counterweight box. I mounted a small rubber wheel, on a swivel, to the rear of the box to keep it from dragging. I mounted 3 axles with small pulley wheels, free to move right and left above the 3 winch axels. This helps the string to wind and unwind evenly on these motor driven axels. I added several more of the small pully wheels to the axels on the booms where the string rounds a bend to keep it from rubbing. Mine works fairly smoothly, but I wouldn't try to lift more than 1/2 a pound, 250 or so grams with it. My ceiling is about 7' 3" high, the crane will go an inch or two higher if it could. Awesome build, I hope Mould King makes more crazy big kits like this.

Oh right you have high celings. Yeah i agree that this is more of a decorative set than a practical set, it just dosent have the balls to lift as much as people would initially think it could lift. I hope Mould King make more big sets too there are a couple more big sets i have my eye on and might consider bringing to the channel.

Mould King does seem to be getting their shit together recently. I bought this one and will start the build soon. Looks like it's big, going to have to find room for it.

Yep you are correct, Mould King does seem to be getting their shit together such as putting all the pieces in the set, that was one of my main worries is that i would have 1 or a couple pieces missing. Even though i had no missing pieces this time i believe thats not always the case as other reviews on this have reported usually just 1 missing piece. It certainly is a challenge so if you decide to buy this good luck! If you are an experienced lego builder however you shouldnt have too much trouble with this, might just be a few tricky spots.

Just completed my build and love this set, it's a big one that's for sure. I love lego but not the price they charge, this was $300 and the lego crane is $1012 big difference!! mould king has come through with making a great crane. I also added led lights and looks great.

@@trusterracing6185 yep my thoughts exactly, lego can go shove that price up their ass its just not worth that amount of money. I reckon led's would look cool on this set like you have on your set.

You add a lot of friction into the pulley system when you use a larger cord. I'm running 10lb braided fishing line. I've also found it helps when you stagger the rigging on the pulley banks. The Derrick is rigged right to left and the luffing jib is rigged left to right. Didn't like that red strap that attaches the derrick to the car body, so I scrapped that and turned it into a functional A-Frame.

Ok it sounds like you made some beneficial changes to the main mechanics and superstructure to the crane. My question is does it lift more now that youve made those adjustments?
@poopjeans1135
@poopjeans1135 3 месяца назад
@@Nornical1500s it lifts more now as I also beefed up the counterweight. A 4 lb bag of rice does wonders and it's easy to hide inside Technic panels. I picked up a medium motor and after reducing the gearing and some modifications to the boom I was able to retain full RC function. Another thing I've noticed is with thicker rigging, it takes up a lot of space on your winches which actually changes the gear reduction adding additional strain to your motors.

@@poopjeans1135 Ok yeah i understand where your coming from. Thats just a bit complex for me to do, im not really that good with modifications to sets but it sounds like you know what you''re doing. Maybe you could share a video potentially of it in working order that would be cool to see.

I am trying to finish assembling this set now, but the design is a bit flawed. Those 1 X 8, 1 X 6, and 1 X 4 plates that hold the booms together pop off too easily, especially at the bottom. I bought a bottle of acetone and am in the process of bonding those pieces so they will stay attached when stressed. I hope this works.
@Nornical1500s
@Nornical1500s Месяц назад
yes they do pop off quite easily. I wouldve recommended to super glue the pieces together rather than using acetone but acetone should work fine if you're already in the process of using it. I just pressed them together very firmly it seems to be fine but people have used pliers with tape over the metal part.

Do you know of a website that sells replacement bricks? I broke one of my 15 longs on the main boom as i was running the cable. Almost all the way done then I broke something

It sucks when something like that happens so close to finishing. I do know theres a site called GoBricks im unsure about product availiability such as every type of lego brick they sell. It would be worth checking them out.
