When I was a child praying was so easy and happy...today as an adult fully aware of the evil all around us, praying is much more hard because of distraction and the awareness of Satan in our society and of the behavior of his "woke" followers including those in key positions all through our government and institutions and the knowledge that so many of those that profess to be Catholic are not. The battle is intense because we see that our country is more sinful than Sodom and Gomorrah and our Catholic faith has been infiltrated at the highest levels. Regardless we know that in the end Our Lord triumphs and I and all the true faithful who repent of our sins want to be with Our Lord so badly. We will endure.

May God have mercy on us!

This holy monk was engaged in the intense battle specifically because he was striving with all his faculties to not only become holy himself but to engage in spiritual warfare to bring as many as possible to salvation. Therefore, he engaged in battle with the destroyer of souls! He was called to this and could not go AWOL. We live in a time when we are under vicious attack by the destroyer of souls. All of us. We are all pilgrim soldiers and we must engage in this battle. We were born to a time such as this. It is a time of horrible sin but also extraordinary grace. So practically, what do we do? Our Lady gives us five simple practices that if adhered to will give us the grace to go into battle and place us under her mantle where we join her in sure victory since the battle belongs to the Lord. Here are the five weapons of war. Prayer from the heart especially the Rosary. Monthly confession. Frequent communion in a state of grace, daily scripture reading, and fasting. Our Lady has said extraordinary graces have been given to the prayer of the Rosary in these times and these graces will lead us to the other four. Each one is vital and life giving. Fasting brings our bodies and desires into subjection to our spirit so our lives become well ordered. Scripture forms our minds to the mind of Christ. We grow in understanding how God sees things. Through the sacraments of frequent confession and communion we are purified and strengthened spiritually to grow and remain faithful and persevere to the end. Jesus said “He who perseveres to the end will be saved”. So we can’t quit!! We can’t flee! And it is so tempting to flee! I pray that none of us, myself included, will flee. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

That scripture passage really spoke to me. The story of the monk was also insightful. We should realise that being left alone in an isolated place abandoned to our own inner dialogue is no picnic. Silence opens us up to the presence of God but also brings us face to face with our inner selves for better and for worse. Add to that the voice of the evil one as even Christ experienced in the desert and you have an epic struggle. Thanks for another great talk Father!

Yes, we are definitely in a brutal battle. But God already gave us the best weapons: Confession, Eucharist, reading Bible, Rosary, fasting and meditations. Let's pray for each other, especially for our priests. Love in Christ.

Unsaid perhaps by the modest monk, but people in religious life (nuns, monks, brothers, etc) are also taking on much of the spiritual battle that is waged against the world in general, and in the lay-population. They are true, silent warriors of the human/spiritual realm. God bless all of them.

It is an unrelenting daily battle with the forces of evil. Over the years I've learned to talk daily with Our Blessed Lady asking her forgiveness for when I fail and for strength and grace to continue the fight. Believe me it helps a lot. Daily Rosary recital is also a powerful weapon. Unless we do these things the devil and his demons will take more souls to hell. Let's stop them! Never give up - pray, pray and then pray some more. The world needs spiritual warriors now more than ever.

Our is a imperishable crown! How awsome is that, We all must show up tot the battle of life where ever God has us at the moment. There is opportunity to minister to the body of Christ every where I learned that while living in Massachusetts and was involved with a large youth ministry about 150 young people it was challenging but also a blessing like what we see in apostle Paul letters Hallelujah! I fail daily but don’t want to fail some days are better to than others but all days are blessing to me no matter what . I have to practice humbling myself like asking for forgiveness which is hard especially when it’s a stranger I’ve upset even more than people I love . Including letting anger go and temptation to pass without falling into it . . . I feel like the older I get the more aware of how much I need help and to live by the gospel as hard as it is for me personally. Thanks for your videos they keep me full of hope and in constant thought about how to be a better follower of Jesus Christ . Your one of the ones Fr. Attended a Latin Mass for the first time ever last night and received Holy Communion for the first time in nigh on to 18 years! Glory to God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ!

Thank you for this, Fr. Mark. When there are times in my life when I’m particularly struggling with certain battles, and I feel overwhelmed by them, I try to think of St. Therese of Lisieux who conquered hers with a childlike trust and abandonment in the Lord. He knows we are weak, and are like dust, but I believe he won’t allow us to be lost if we cling to him with the supernatural faculties we’ve been given, namely faith, hope and charity, and particularly the last one being the strongest power on earth!

It is a battle for sure. I am so grateful my God is a Trinity and absolutely amazing with a Blessed Mother leading the fight. She is the one they are most afraid of, I believe. 🌹Viva Cristo Rey! 💖🔥

Thank you, Fr. Mark... I really needed to hear this. I feel like I am on the verge of breaking down in a sense of alienation and loneliness from Jesus, not to mention that I cannot help but be frustrated and sad with him. I thought I finally had understood what he wants to show me, but instead, I was more than wrong, apparently and my compass is basically broken. I feel directionless and desperately pray for Him to speak to me, to make himself known to me and to lead me on His path, but all I can see and hear is nothingness and it is slowly breaking me apart. I do not want to go back to the crippling and soul-crushing depression that I suffered from for 10 years and only was relieved from after I returned to the Church and my faith. I'm just so lost...

Hi Fr …. I think this is an aspect of our Spiritual life which on the most part is rarely paid attention to … however I can definitely attest to the nearly constant battle being fought in my life both night and day.. I am very ordinary Mum of 3 now adult kids and as I have matured in my relationship with God I have become aware of this reality and how to counter the attacks with belief in the assurance that God is my defender liberator.. I often wish we taught this more in our Churches and homes.

The daily fight is for the salvation of souls, for ourself and others. Holy father, pray for us!

I spend an hour in prayer every morning & again each evening. I say a variety of prayers but, without fail, I'm always certain to say the St. Bridget Prayers & the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. During my day, whenever an opportunity presents - such as while driving, waiting in line at the bank or drive-thru, etc., I say the Jesus Prayer (Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner) over & over & over. After all, we've been instructed to "pray without ceasing".

I was watching a documentary about fr solonus Casey last night. and as I slept i kept thinking how far i was from being Holy. And I felt horrible.. .... They targeted me for a while, they stop now sense I started praying three times the rosary, sometimes I pray twice because, Im doing something in the kitchen, but sense I pray three times a day the rosary, the targeting stop, and I put the picture of heavily Mother Mary on the night stand the side I sleep, all the noises stopped. Before at night it was hits on the wall or outside of the window, all that stopped now. I say thank you for saving me to the Lord Jesus Christ and heavenly Mother Mary. Every time I pray I ask her to help me with my prayers, so my mind don't wonder away, I also do a special prayer just for her every day, every one should do a special prayer just for her every day

As I have grown spiritually, I have discovered that if what I am doing is important, spiritually and eternally the spiritual opposition becomes intense. My feeling is the spiritual opposition that I am allowed to experience is how God lets me know what I am doing is important.

Its amazing how many of us have to fight evil....I also in dreams am still fighting the devil. My first dream was a demon sitting on me I was paralized and couldn't move in fear until it let me go and when I sat up; made the sign of the cross the thing laughed going down the hall way. That was 40 years ago. I am now 74 and still in dreams fighting them off...only not to that extent. I won't go on an on but just thought I would share this because I don't really talk about it to people. God Bless you Father and thank you.

Now I have to try harder to resist temptation. I want to win the battle.

I think one of the issues those of us have who are trying to live in God’s Grace and Will must learn how to give it all up to Jesus. We do our best, we work hard for the cause of Christ, but we have to put it in perspective. We have NO power. Only God has the power. Our prayers and interactions with others, when we are in a state of Grace, allows Our Precious Lord to move in and take over. Trust Him. One person at a time.

Temptations are supposed to be difficult because God needs to know that you're willing to give up even your most tempting desires for Him.

I keep asking our Lord if it is alright to go through what I am going through. It is quite intense and too big for me. He always let's me know it is the battle.
