Mount Daniel is a substantial behemoth of a mountain located within the Alpine Lakes Wilderness between I90 and Highway 2 in Washington State. Being the largest mountain in the vicinity, it offers amazing views. Many do this as an overnight but I enjoyed it as a one day push. The stats look worrisome but it’s pretty gradual and well maintained so it’s not super taxing. Not to say every single person should do it but I think most seasoned hikers would be able to tackle it. Nothing too technical up top, minor scrambling. This was in September which offered some vibrant fall colors near Cathedral Pass.

I was up there back in 8/2018. it was smoky due to forest fire. Your view is much better. I think this climb is the hardest day-hike (no overnight camping).

Major bummer getting smoked out on this one. At least the views down around the mountain itself are absurd. It’s a great challenging dayhike!

It was a North Face L2 Grid Fleece. I love it. Well made, very breathable. But keeps you reasonably warm. The chest pocket is nice too for a phone

Thanks man! This was end of September! I think right now there would be snow from peggys pond and beyond but probably still doable without too much extra gear
