you should watch the short film called "there's no end", its about him and his daughter and his life and is so beautiful and comforting to watch knowing what he's been through

I'd recommend Mount Eerie (the album by The Microphones) because it's a direct sequel from what was going on in Phil's life in The Glow Pt. 2 and then after A Crow Looked At Me, it would be Microphones in 2020

I'm sorry for being one of the ones to do this to you, but I'm happy you appreciated the album. I think it's a beautiful piece of art.

i've listened to this album countless times, for multiple personal reasons it's easily one of my favorite albums of all time, but it's one that WILL ruin your day if you're not ready for it. i've listened to it countless times and i still cry every single time as if it's the first time i heard it. i find myself returning to this album when i'm internally grieving someone i've lost, whether it be recently or in the past. i listen to it when i need to cry. it's a feeling of "i'm not alone, someone is explaining emotions that i am currently experiencing to some extent". death/loss/grief are concepts that no one will fully understand until they experience it themselves, even though both birth and death are the two things that every single human on this planet are guaranteed to experience. i also have memories of listening to this album (and the sequel) basically on repeat when i was in the darkest period of my life a few years ago. i don't know why, but this was the album that somehow brought me the most "comfort" when i was day after day on the verge of killing myself. so it's just... a hard hitter for me for multiple reasons. if you read all the way through, thank you. just know that every day you're alive is another day to spite the grim reaper, and just know i'm proud of you.

now why did you do it lmao oh my lord no you need a happy album after this good god please listen to like Fishmans Long Season or something pleasant context: yes this album is very real. Phil Elverum's wife really did die and leave behind him and his one year old daughter. He is also the man behind The Microphones, who you just recently listened to. This album dropping was utterly shocking, as it dropped mere months after his wife had passed away. The whole thing was very public and extremely depressing.

it would be great to see you react to the album dawn by mount eerie. i actually had the opportunity to talk to phil about that album in 2018.
