Mount Maroon is about 1.5hrs south of Brisbane, a few KM north of the state border. The summit track is a fairly steep climb with some scrambling, which passes through a cleft in the mountain onto the broad summit plateau.
From there the 'track' becomes 'choose your own adventure' with markers placed as a guide. The summit itself has amazing 360° views of the scenic rim, mount Barney, Flinders peak and Mount LIndsay, to name a few.
The summit track took around 2.5hrs up and 2hrs down (I descended in the dark so was taking it slow).
