Shaolin Temple is now a listed commercial company, and the abbot of the temple, Shi Yongxin, has become a figure like the chairman, riding in a Mercedes-Benz car. This is really funny. But the Shaolin Temple itself has a long history and has a unique position in Chinese history. thank you for your work

How you can traverse so many steps in high mountain air and not sound winded, at all, is impressive~ Another cool place that I never heard of prior!

Thank you nick for this nice video to the song mountain. Being a 67yr old overseas Chinese, I am fascinated by Chinese culture and have climbed (well mostly ride in cable cars) up a few of their mountains too. If you’re a Tao follower, you may enjoy a trip to Wutang mountain. Some lovely old structures there. I’ve a suggestion for your next adventure. I have thought of visiting the old capitals of the various dynasties. Xi’an would be an appropriate starting point. It’ll be like living china’s history if one does it chronologically would you agree?

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Interesting that you mention Wudang Mountain - if you scroll back a bit through the channel there are several videos. I lived on Wudang for a month studying taiji and it's Maybe my favourite place in China! Historical capitals is a great idea, i live in Xi'an so I have a good starting point - thanks for the suggestion!

Another great video. Every time I go back to China in the summer I think I should get to 少林寺. But it’s a fair amount of trouble to get there, and I always hear about the blatant commercialism, so… maybe some day.

In the Song Mountains there are so many more interesting places than The Shaolin Temple. Have a look at Fawang Temple, the Songyue Pagoda. Really great places. Also for some really old history, there are a few Que Towers which date back 2000 years. Pretty cool

loving the videos brother, its very hard to find and learn stuff about China as its kind of taboo atleast where I am from. Content like this broadens the perspective a lot!

Is there a way to the top without walking? The view from the cable car looks good. How much is the entrance fee to the Shaolin Temple? I suppose it is accessible by motor vehicles.
@nickinchina2552
@nickinchina2552 11 месяцев назад
The ticket was 80rmb which gives you access to the temple and mountain. It is all pretty spread out. The other mountain is a seperate ticket, about 50rmb i think

Although it's 'touristy' to a degree and you won't find any Tang period pagodas, Emei Shan Sichuan is worth the ticket. Are hiking trails but it's all of 3100m to the top. Is enchanting in winter when laden with snow. Also a good 15°C cooler in summer when often surmounted by cloud, which creates a mystical vibe at the golden temple with the cauldrons and joss sticks, Buddhist monks and ethereal muzak from loudspeakers.

I climbed Emei in 2006. It really is an amazing hike! I will do it again one day. Lots of steps on that mountain...
