We head up the new climb trail to check out the new flow trail in Squamish, BC. This new extension to the legacy climb trail tops at 900 meters (3000 ft) above sea level.
"Meadow of the Grizzly (Spélhx̱en tl'a Stl'lhalem)", the new flow trail has great flow and is fantastic for practicing your cornering. Hopefully we'll see some jumps added on the future?

What equipment are you using anyway? Really like the filter and I think I saw a shadow of a huge microphone...

I'm using a hero 4 and an evo ss gimbal. I've put a "dead cat" over the mic to help with wind noise.

Give some clipless pedals to the guy in front and tighten them as much as possible
@BCpov
@BCpov 6 лет назад
Haha.. I think he normally rides clipless. I can't remember if he did on this day!

Yeah, I thought it was great. Some of the locals are shitting on it though, unfortunately. A few think its too steep and poorly built which is a bit weird to me.

They think the climb is too steep, or the DH? I'd love to live in an area where this was considered shitty haha
@BCpov
@BCpov 7 лет назад
They think the downhill is too steep for the type of trail it is. Among other things. Check out the comments on trailforks: www.trailforks.com/trails/meadow-of-the-grizzly-spelhx-en-tl-a-stl-lhalem/

Steep means lots of braking, so it is going to get torn up faster I guess.

Road that 2 days ago - including the climb trail - that descent is about 8 times steeper than it seems in the video and much steeper than Half Nelson. You rode it super fast and courage.

Fast is the best way on this trail, hope you had fun!

Great vid. Great riding. One hell of a build by the community . I would want to ride it just to check out the build. I would hope the soil melting in the berms from erosion and rider use can be managed well down the road. I couldn't help but notice the drainage features on your ride down. It would be interesting to be out during a significant rain event to see how well they worked. Thanks !

Joyride bike parks were behind the descent trail and they've done a great job. I'm sure there will be some issues that pop up as is with any trail, but from I could tell it should drain really well. It's definitely challenging terrain to build in though, all the trails in the area are double black and they've gone and put a blue trail in!

Watched the build vid. I can appreciate the hell out of the effort as we are putting 20 mi. of flow in my neck of the woods. It ain't Squamish but you gotta go with what you got. ;)

Nice edit. Looks like one for the bucket list. Quick question. Your buddy riding the Chromag was it built up 29er or 27.5 plus?

I don't ride Squamish often and I don't climb huge stuff (Except fromme and blackomb sometimes) but I really want to try this trail, how hard is the climb compared to half nelson?
@BCpov
@BCpov 6 лет назад
+Canada if you've done the legacy climb up to half Nelson is about double that.

Gonna ride it this weekend to see it for myself. I totally get why they built this, and I donated to the Kickstarter, but my selfishness would've preferred a couple hand built single tracks, maybe one like Angry Midget that an intermediate can ride and one harder trail (with chicken lines).
@BCpov
@BCpov 7 лет назад
I'm sure with this there will be a bunch of new single track coming off the top next year :)

What kind of GPS unit is on your bars? Im looking into getting one.

I'm using a wahoo rflkt. It requires pairing to a smartphone as it really only acts as a display with minimal controls. They've got a new one called the wahoo bolt which you might consider.

+Oscar Hatcher MTB hey Oscar, logging is a big industry here in bc. Much if our trails are in forestry land. Infact most of it trails exist because of the access logging roads provide.

because BC does its best to level forests at an alarming rate. it's what we do here. don't even ask about the remaining old growth timber stands (but in case you do- we log the shit out of it)

We aren’t even cutting them down as fast as they are growing the past ten years. Softwood lumber dispute/two of three mills closed in our town. Don’t hate unless you know the facts!

Guy up front is a bad rider, locking the rear wheel at any given chance, too many novices on the trails now days doing this.
