Phew, you never fail to impress me with your photography. There are many things that separate you from other vloggers for me but I love the way you take the viewer through the image, your love of mountain photography is so evident in your work. I was mesmerised at the pink hues on the snow as your were talking through a few of your ideas for images - it was such a magical scene. So glad your are persisting with the vlogs Alex as it gives us a real experience of what you go through to get these images - thanks.

Great video, a lot of fantastic images, especially the Island shot and the blue hour one but both are trumped by the final image with the aurora and the person, that sums up what looked like an amazing day in one final image.

The closing images were magnificent Alex by far and away the very best images I have seen of Lofoten my compliments to you sir! Thanks for detailing how you put your compositions together I found that very helpful. The second composition when you broke down the panorama where you used the diagonal that reminds me of the Walker Spur on Les Grandes Jorasses in Chamonix.

This was a cracking video Alex. Really enjoyed watching while I was drinking a nice cup of black coffee. I thought the photographs were stunning and I enjoyed learning how you go about positioning the camera to make use of the foreground and background elements. What a location though! If I didn't have to cut the grass today I'd probably be on a flight to Lofoten...well maybe not, but you know what I mean! :-) #inspired

Nice one, Alex (and Harsharn). Lucky you didn't have any wind or it would've been pretty brutal. I agree with you and like the blue hour image near the end the most. I noticed another opportunity at 17:04 with the alpenglow on the foreground and I think you might have too as there was a slight double take with the camera - of course it may have looked very different in real life or was too obvious for you. Look forward to the next one.
@alexnail
@alexnail 5 лет назад
Nick McLaren compositionally that definitely works, I just wanted to avoid the human element and there’s plenty of that going on in the valley down there! Glad you enjoyed it Nick!
@nickmclaren3898
@nickmclaren3898 5 лет назад
Thought that might be the case when I noticed the road down below, difficult to see the other human elements on screen. Out of interest, what are the mountains like to climb there compared to Scotland? Do you need to stick to certain paths/routes and are most ascents fairly straightforward as far as technicality goes? Cheers and have a great time in the Burg!
@alexnail
@alexnail 5 лет назад
@@nickmclaren3898 well there are only a small fraction of the mountains that can be walked without technical challenge but otherwise they are fairly analogous to Scotland. Some of the marked routes do include technical sections sometimes, as you'll see in my next video!

Were you shooting at a manual ISO such as 5000K? Your vlogging camera was set at auto ISO and compensated for the blue.
@alexnail
@alexnail 5 лет назад
I assume you mean White Balance not ISO? My 5DSR is always set in the 5200-5500K range, whilst yes, my video camera was set to auto WB. I might change that in future so that the video camera gives a consistent idea of the natural light. Although of course the white balance you choose is highly subjective. The corrected WB is closer to what we see whilst the absolute WB (say 5200K) seems more 'true' and consistent if that makes sense. So I think there is freedom to operate between the two at blue hour/sunsets/whenever there is a strong colour cast.
