Mountain Pose is a basic standing posture that is a great foundation for many asanas. It creates space in the spine allowing the body to work more efficiently and with more ease. Try Tadasana and let me know what you think!

Your videos are not like the typical yoga videos on youtube qhere they just tell you how to physically "do" a posture...but you express a lot of knowledge about the more significant inner body and unseen mental aspects of the posture...your video of tadasan is 12mins long and still is not boring at all and has alot to say....deep knowledge is always welcomed. ..thanks Adrien😘

ROOT 🌳 | April 18, 2023 | Part 2 - This is so perfect because I'm in Colorado right now for work and every time I do a mountain pose I'm channeling those majestic mountains! Mountain pose has served my posture so well in the last four years of doing daily yoga with Adriene! 🙏

I've been going through these, practicing one daily and it's amazing how studying the asanas like this give a brand new perspective! There are details I've never realized - it's given new meaning, confidence and ease to each that I've practiced so far. You are so enjoyable and hilarious to work with, thank you for creating these - they have and continue to be so valuable Adriene!

I am so thankful for your Foundations of Yoga playlist! I just started 30 Days of Yoga as a total beginner recently and was a bit "Whoa slow down what are we doing now?" These videos are a tremendous help! I've only just begun my yoga journey but your videos have saved me many times already. Thank you for holding my hand through this!

Holy cats! This was my very first time doing any sort of yoga, ever. I stand for almost all of my work day, and my feet hurt constantly. Doing thus mountain pose, I was aware for the first time in my life (I'm 60, btw) that my weight is not evenly distributed on those 4 corners of my feet. When I followed your instruction, my feet no longer hurt! What a lifesaver this was!! Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart(and from the bottom of my feet!)

Yes, with practice I did notice more steadiness- absolutely. I also noticed when I was connecting to the earth more - for stability which was freeing up my movement often in the upper body. I shall now play with this again- thank you. Also- check out the Samasthiti video. I love playing with that and feel like it fits into this conversation as well.

So I’m still on the True 30 days of yoga (day 21 today) and I’ve started adding doing two of these foundations sessions after each True practice to build my understanding of the asanas. Mountain pose is becoming so helpful in my daily life while I’m working on rehabilitating an old rotator cuff weakness. And I’ve started using deep breathing in my daily work as a gardener. I’ve noticed more and more how I hold my breath when lifting and carrying heavy objects or when doing even prolonged activies such as barrowing mulch and sawing wood. Holding my breath or breathing too shallowly for so much of my working day! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

Dear Adrian, I'm far away from hear in the small country of Bulgaria and I enjoy every video you've made for us... I simply can cry my self out while writing this because I have a very rare immune desease, that made me turn myself into the yoga culture. And know what, this is an amazing journey for me, which started 3 years ago and now I'm just into hand stand, crow pose and many more advanced asanas, that my rheumatologist could never explain himself, how can a man with my health situation can even dream for. But thanks to you and the whole yoga culture, I'm here and I give my whole every day to gain more stability and more love to my life and the life of the people around me! So I just can't describe it with words, but I'm so grateful for what you do and I really hope that someday we'll meet each other and could thank you with a yoga practice just next to yourself... Dreams come true one day and I know that you believe in that too! Best regards and much love Yours Nedelin (which is translated whit Sunday in my country) P.s. Hopefully the sunlight kisses you every single day, because people like you deserve this!❤️🙏🏼❤️

I love that I can find a tutorial series that feels personal and welcoming, because you're being you and not doing a presentation. Lots of youtubers nowadays have this "actor" feel to them, and your silly tangents and side comments makes me feel like it's really Adriene that's talking to me, not just a yoga instructor. Thanks for helping bring yoga into my life in a way that feels comfy and organic.

Hi Adriene, I usually go to Yogalates and Pilates classes at the gym and had some real balancing issues. At the moment we're in lockdown and I was lost without the classes until I discovered your channel. I worked on the Beginners video for a week and now doing the Foundations of Yoga which have both helped my balance immensely. To show that your sense of humour has rubbed off on me my body and balance can now dance and be together. Thanks Adriene. Jane from Liverpool, England.

Good question Alan! It is possible, anything is possible! I sometimes soften my gaze so soft that my eyes close for a bit in poses- I throw myself off but come back to center again. Keep it playful and curious- which you are! So, yes, give it a try- build it into the practice! I once took classes where the teacher encouraged us to keep eyes closed for the practice. It was challenging! And awesome. "See feeling-ly" :-) Love, A

Hi! My real answer is that a yoga session is as long or a short as you want it to be. Sometimes your yoga may just be standing up tall in line at the grocery store and becoming aware of your breath. However, in a public yoga class, sessions are typically range from 1hr to 1hr 15min, or even 90 min. Here, the Foundations of Yoga series offers a pose a week but I encourage you to try and link some of the foundational poses together on your own. Find what feels good, create space and BREATHE.

In this Foundations Of Yoga series I want to slow it down and take the time to offer options and insights. Things we normally, no, do not have time for in a workout, a home sequence or public class. So that we can begin to see how much discovery is possible in even the simplest of postures.

Going through this after finishing the 30 days of yoga playlist! 2x/day, and then going to yoga class as often as I can (those hour long v1 vinyasa classes can be a doozy!). This entire video was gold, but I think my personal favorite part was when Adriene says that this pose is all about the boring. As someone who can be excitable, grounding poses that allow me to connect with my breath are all the more important. Great playlist so far, even after all these years!

I had been attempting to do yoga at least semi-regularly, until I seriously threw out my back about a year ago (I sneezed unexpectedly. No, really.). I had to do a few months of physical therapy, and I ended up needing to also change my diet to ease some of the inflammation and muscle tension that were complicating the healing process, and had contributed to the injury happening in the first place (turns out that occasional yoga was no match for the amount of caffeine, dairy, and eggs I was putting into my body). Around the beginning of this month, I decided I was ready to get back into yoga. But I knew that if I attempted to jump in with your 30 Days of Yoga (or any of the other full practice sessions), I would be overdoing it and risking re-injury. So I'm really thankful that you still have these single-pose, beginner videos on your channel; they're allowing me to do a short-but-meaningful practice with you a few days a week, and re-familiarize myself with the individual poses (and how my body connects with each of them). You are by far my favorite yoga instructor, online or offline, and I'm so happy that your channel has seen such amazing success with so many followers. I'm very grateful to you for sharing your practice and wisdom with all of us, and may you continue to brighten people's lives for a long, long time to come.
