Super video. The inversion and moon position are excellent. Thanks for filming, editing and posting. These videos definitely lift me from the gloomy news all around👏 👏👏👏👏
I know that I am talking to 'future you', but watching this was close to a religious experience. I mean 'Wow'. Perfect spot, perfect weather. It really took my breath away watching it, but surely nothing like experiencing it yourself.
@@StripeyHatGuy I think views like that are 'life time' memories. In your old age, sharing your camps and walks with fellow explorers over a beer in the pub this one will keep coming back to you!! Lucky you.
Yeah absolutely I haven't had it in such a long time I didn't even know how nice it can be Dave! By this particular place it was almost a bit of weird at the beginning as I couldn't here anything apart of myself - absolutely lovely! Thanks a lot for watching! ATB Stripey
Thank you very much Alan! This wild camp was for sure the quietest I have had so far in Scotland. No noises from traffic/animals or any people (haven't seen one sole!)- just perfect! Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey
Thanks a lot Sam! Yeah pretty mad when you consider the time of the year, when I think of December I rather tink of ice and snow in the mountains - but hey nothing to complain about a warmer day and a mild winter night! ATB Stripey
I just new you would be out again before Xmas stripey well done spectacular amazing what wonderful view you had from camp at end of your video it said thank you for watching just you try stopping me another great video yet again stripey take care
awesome wild camp, just jaw dropping scenery. i wish i could do stuff like this. have a nice christmas and new year holiday, your legs have earned a wee rest hehehe
Thanks Gordon! It was really a fantastic outing, the only petty was the moon and the time of the year as the milky way isn't standing right... typical German - always complaining 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey
Thanks a lot Martin, for me it was also the best sunset I had in Scotland so far.... probably even not just in Scotland! Thanks a lot for watching x 2 😊👍 ATB Stripey
Great video stripey. The calm camps up high with that light are the best. The colours and inversions definitely make it all worth the effort we put in. I’m heading to glencoe hopefully Xmas week. Unless we aren’t allowed 😞 hope to get some of those amazing conditions and views. Atb and Frohe Weihnachten 👍
Hi Andy, absolutely 👍! Fingers are crossed that you get good weather/views and we are not getting any...shouldn't mention it otherwise... Frohes Fest und einen Guten Rutsch in neue Jahr (Merry Christmas and a good slip into the new year - just a German phrase, don't mean it 😂😂😂) Stripey
I was out running at 6am on a Windfarm outside Glasgow on Saturday and it was a stunning morning. It did occur to me during that run, "I wonder where Stripey Hat Guy is wild camping this weekend?" :-) Now I know. It looked amazing.
Thanks a lot Steve! I use an old Osprey Airspeed Atmos with 50l volume - unfortunately they don't produce this anymore. I super light and a great fit for my back 😉👍
Yeah absolutely stunning scenery Adge_ventures, probably one of my new favourite spots in the Glen Coe area! wish you and your loved ones also a Merry Christmas 🎄 Thanks a lot for watching - ATB Stripey
Another lovely video. Thank you for sharing...and teaching. Rgds Ps. Do you feel a groundsheet is essential to protect the groundsheet and / or is it to help with insulation and / or condensation control?
Hi Imran thank you very much! I personally use the groundsheet purely for protection to enhance the life-time of the tent + I hope I can delay to re-sealing the floor sheet of the tent which is quite a pain to do... I also assume the effect on isolation is minimal (r-value of SilNylon + nearly no trapped air in-between the groundsheet and tent floor) in comparison to an isomattress. If a correlation between a groundsheet and condensation exist is out of my knowledge but under the assumption that condensation appears where heigh temperature differences are...no it won't change anything (see above isolation). Thanks a lot for watching Imran! ATB Stripey
Danke Stripey, have you considered setting up a guiding company. I certainly would pay for a 1-5 day Scottish back-country trips with yourself, especially as you are a member of the prestigious Scarp 1 owners group!!!!
Sehr gerne TheQuietProfessional! No I didn't consider that but take it as a big compliment 😊. The times when I was active in ther German Alp Association are long gone and I am afraid a Scarp 1 isn't helping my office fitness either 😂😂😂 - but I guess no one knows the future 😉 Thanks a lot for watching! @@StripeyHatGuy Go for it my friend, we are a long time dead. Now is the time to benefit and profit from our love of the mountains and the back-country. As you already know, it fulfills our lives like nothing else.
