This is video 2 in a landscape photography series filmed over a 5 day period in Scotland. I took my camper van and drove north across the border after having seen one of the most promising weather forecasts in living memory; a huge snow dump followed by high pressure! Game on. In this video I hike up Buachaille Etive Beag and photograph the beautiful snow covered mountain rages surrounding glencoe.

They exceed the photography that's for sure. You can get a drone that will carry his camera, he should do that and leave the tripod at home.

Thanks, i'd do more but the cold ruins my thumbs and my gloves have magnates in them so flying time is restricted to only a couple of minutes in those temps :)

Hi Thomas, been watching for a long while now. I find myself shopping around at gear quite often. When I'm in that mode, I see one of your videos and it reminds me the gear is not what all this is about. It's okay that I don't have a wide angle lens at the moment. It's okay that I don't own any L glass. You hardly ever even say what lens you're using other than to mention what focal distance and f stop you're shooting at. It reminds me that having the latest gear and getting the highest resolution photos technologically possible isn't necessary and I appreciate that. Your videos are always leaps and bounds more inspiring than any of the gear reviewers'. I'm sure many feel the same way. So thanks for being here! Keep making your awesome videos that are ACTUALLY about photography.

That's what set him apart from essentially everyone else, especially so when he first started out a few years ago on the channel. His humble and modest approach is a stark contrast to so many other people out there, youtubers or otherwise. It's always refreshing to see another TH upload.
@ThomasHeatonPhoto
@ThomasHeatonPhoto 5 лет назад
That's very kind, thank you. I certainly wouldn't discourage having the best gear you can stretch to, but in no way is it the most important thing about photography. What's the use in spending all your money on gear if you then don't venture out in to the wilds to use it :)

Hi Thomas, been subbed for around two years now and always loved your content. So peaceful and tranquil it always destressed me put me in a better mood. However for what must be around six months I haven’t had any notifications from you and assumed you’d been away from RU-vid. It was only today when I searched for one of your old vids to watch that I realised infact you hadn’t been away!! I’m equally pissed off at RU-vid for not letting me see your videos in my feed, as I am happy that now I have 6 months of videos to binge watch. Thanks again for the videos, you’re one of my fav youtubers, and being somewhat of a photographer myself I can appreciate the effort and dedication that goes into the work you out up for us. Big love from the Uk

3 years ago, in may, I had an accident & fractured my spine & just shy of the 4 month recovery mark in September, I ran (well, jogged/walked) a half-marathon. Hiking -- not my usual "sketchy" trails -- was one of the best "rehabilitation" activities & motivation to not let the injury redefine my life(style). So I know exactly how your friend feels & 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 to him! I love hearing these "come back" stories 🙏🏽🤙🏽

The drone shots- very nice. I know the goal of the craft is to capture a scene or distill a moment into a single frame, but the drone views transport the viewer into the place more effectively when the delivery medium is video. More, please.

Another great video, if not one of the best you've done recently. Though I have say it's getting to be a bit of bitter-sweet experience now. Watching you go to these great places and take fantastic shots, I'm getting really jealous. Certainly at my very amateur level I could not do any where near the justice to these landscapes they deserved, I'd more than happy to go there and breathe in that scenery. Keep up the excellent work. Oh, great choice in background music too.

That second photo blew my socks off! That little bit of light on that ridge in the centre of the frame puts it over the top, that is where my eye is drawn. When I saw you setting it up I worried the mist in the valley would pull me to the right too far but that light brings you back in. Excellent as always
@ThomasHeatonPhoto

I agree entirely. On sunday I will upload a video critiquing these images and the 2nd is my favourite. It's all about that light and the graduation from orange to pink in the sky.
@ScottAspinall
@ScottAspinall 5 лет назад
@@ThomasHeatonPhoto That light is gorgeous. Conditions like that don't come around often and you got a winner of a shot. Personally, the right side of the image is still much stronger and my eye almost never goes left but the colour play/gradients all over the image would get lost with a tighter crop I think. As I said, this one is tops in my books
