Awesome! Thank you Tony! This was a special trip for me. Part Two comes out Wednesday. The rest of videos are all trail. Appreciate you always watching my friend! Crow
Thanks Dan! Yeah, this was an awesome trip. I hope to go back and do section two soon. Thanks for watching the series. After your video on the EE Torrid, I think I am going to get that jacket. All the best, Crow
I like how you're able to hang your bag on your trekking pole inside the tent! That's super cool. Really nice loadout Crow! Looking forward to the series.
Appreciate it my friend! Yeah, I have always done that to keep it off the ground. Plus, it rained that night pretty hard. Thank you so much for watching my series. This was an awesome trip. All the best, Crow
I like to see the Day 1 traveling parts of a video series. To me, that is a part of the whole adventure. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series and seeing this trail! looks cool! Okay, now for the funny...the super sharp Harley towing the poop tank through the background at about 11:20 totally cracked me up! LOL!
So cool! Awesome! Congrats to both of you! The Smokies is an awesome place for a honeymoon. Thanks so much for always watching and supporting my channel. We crows need to stick together, LOL. All the best, Crow
Thanks, you too! Appreciate ya Ian! This was a very special trip for me. Part Two comes out Wednesday. The rest of the videos are all about the trail. Thanks for always watching, Crow
Cool Crow! I'm always interested in load outs. Everyone carries different stuff and packs in different ways. Looks like a nice gentle way to start a hike at that campsite, especially if you had a long drive to get there. Loving the music too Man! One day I'll pick up my old guitar again and make my own background tunes! 😃 - ATB, Mark 👍
Thanks Jim! I wasn’t sure about doing this introduction. But, I wanted to set the scene for the trip. The remaining four videos are all trail. Thanks for always watching my friend! Crow✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING its all good brother, i figured the rest would be trail. Seeing all your gear is helpful to some novice adventurer's and always interesting to see what more experienced adventurer's use. I'm set in my ways on some things, but steal other peoples ideas sometimes, 😂 lol.
As you can tell...I really don't need to be on camera...LOL. I can mess up any gear by trying to explain it...LOL. Appreciate you watching my friend! Crow
Thanks a ton! Appreciate you watching. This was a special trip. The four remaining videos are all trail. Thanks for watching. Part Two will come out Wednesday. Crow
awesome start to the hike, I like Smokemont Campground, we stayed there before too. The bonding time you had looked great and getting ready for the big hike. I can't wait to see the second part!
Thanks Nicole! This was an amazing hike. The rest of the series is all hiking. This was basically just the preparation. Hope you enjoy the series. Thanks for always watching. Crow
Thanks Dub! Yeah, this was a special trip. The remaining four videos are all trail. This was my introduction video. I hope you like them. Thanks for always watching. By the way, March 14, my MRE video comes out. Hope you like it. Crow✌️
Thanks my friend. We were able to stay at Mile High Campground on Day Three and that is an amazing place. I hope to do segment two this year as well. Thanks for watching. Crow
Sounds like an awesome adventure! I camped at Smokemont several times in the late 50’s with my scout troop. That’s a great campground. The water in that stream surely was cold! Happy Trails
Hey Lock! Yeah, that is a beautiful campground. It was crowded that weekend. The elk were out and about. Those are beautiful creatures. Thanks so much for watching my adventure. Crow
Thank you Crow! You make great videos and are fun to watch. That video brought back great memories of hiking the dome. That was before all of the infrastructure and road was built. It was a tough climb.
A brewery is a great place to begin a hiking trip. :-) And wow that first mountain scene, sure is nice to be able to scratch my itch watching other people’s beautiful hiking vlogs while I await my time back on the trail. :-)
You got that right! Yeah, this was a special trip. Part Two comes out Wednesday. The remainder of the videos are all about the trail. Appreciate you so much for always supporting my channel. Love your singing! Crow
Thanks Mia! Yeah, the MST is an amazing trail, spanning the whole state of North Carolina. I enjoyed the first segment. I hope to do more. Appreciate ya! Crow
Great start crow. 4AM? Yeah right! You'd think the campsite and set up there is tempting enough for another night. But no you wanna get going because the trek sounds awesome. I'll be tuning in - a bit behind but there now. Well, good hospitality. Mark
Appreciate it Mark! Yeah, this was one of my favorite hikes. Day three as one of my favorite days of hiking. Enjoying your pictures of your latest hike. All the best, Crow✌️
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING I settled back again Crow. I really do enjoy your videos and company. I'll be following the series - again tomorrow. Yeah, the Lower Wye is historic and beautiful.
I think I've been back to the future, somewhere in time I've seen those water shoes 😅 Sweet pack! I kept thinking Mary Poppins bag when I saw all the gear on the truck bed! This will be another great trip brother, I think the big tent could work for ya all lol 😂🌲
Yep! It is a back to the future moment. This was the first hike I had those water shoes on and then I did the review after that...but, posted the video before this one came out. I have a lot of backlog in my videos...LOL. Those shoes are great. Mary Poppins!!!! LOL. Appreciate you always watching my friend. Crow
Awesome! Leonidas said you wouldn't start posting this trip until March...oh ye of little faith😂 Enjoyed watching and looking forward to the rest of the series! Think it's time we get back out there together soon👍
Appreciate it my friend! Yeah, too many videos in the que... This was one of my favorite trips. I want to do section two after watching your video. Hopefully, I can catch up and do section three with you and Joe. Crow
Thanks for always watching my friend! This was a good trip and the gear worked well. I was very happy to get the opportunity to do this segment of the MST. I hope to do more later. Crow
Hey Crow!! Ya know the sun still rises behind the clouds.... not like theres no sunrise! ;-) Haha we knew what you meant! Looks like this will be another good one. We probably drove right across this trail on our Adventurecation! Nice Loadout too. I'm still struggling to get my pack weight that low. Look forward to next week!! ~ Rugged Mountain Gang
I had to go back and listen to what I said again...That is so funny. I didn't realize I said there is no sunrise...that would be a problem...LOL. Appreciate you always watching. The rest of it is hiking...I promise...LOL. That MST is an amazing trail. It runs the whole length of North Carolina. Thanks so much for watching I hope the Rugged Mountain Gang is well. Crow
Great video! Nice Channel. Just subscribed! You are not messing around with backpacking. Have done a couple of small trips but nothing like this. Thanks for sharing!
Crazy how much gear you can carry under 25 pounds. My day pack is close to 20. You've got it down to a science, my friend. Looks like this is going to be a great trip.
Must be summertime for a 23 lb. loadout with 5 days food. MikeP, Tom Walker and me stayed at that Smokemont campsite before going up to campsite #49 I think. Don't count on that Arc Blast to be waterproof. ✌
Hey John! Yeah, that is a beautiful campgrounds. I love that place. Yeah, I used one of those bags inside the pack to protect everything. I finally got a pack cover for it too. Great pack. Thanks for always watching John. Crow
This was September. It was cold on top of the mountain, but, got a little warmer on the second day of hiking. Then, it got cold again. The Smokies has it's own ecosystem...LOL. Crow
Man I enjoy watching your adventures. Just pleasant, easy going and slightly goofy vids. I am curious how the arc blast worked out for you. I am seriously considering ordering an ultralight pack. Cheers!
You are so kind! Thank you my friend. I love the Arc Blast so far. I have seen a lot of reviews. But, two of my friends have had them for years and love them. Theirs look brand new. So, after seeing that, I decided to make the plunge. It is a costly venture. But, as I get older, I need less weight on my knees. So far, so good. All the best, Crow
Thanks Billy. Yeah, this was a wet one on day two. This was a special hike for me. I want to continue the segments in your home state. Great trail. Crow
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING yes sir I may join you on a few. I've only hiked the section called Cascades Preserve which is a connector trail but a beautiful little preserve... I did a video on it last year with the family.
I believe this trip was in September. It was actually very cold on on Clingman's Dome the second day. Thanks for watching Papa Bruce. This was a very special trip for me. Part Two will come out on Wednesday. Appreciate ya! Crow
Nice pack! Now that you have switched to the the Arc Blast, what is your opinion of the DCF pack? Did you have any issues with it leaking? I have the Arc Haul, but I have decided to get a DCF pack and went with the Hyperlight Mountain Gear Southwest 2400. It arrives this week and I will most likely be taking this with me when we hike the PMT. Look forward to hiking with you my friend! Cheers
What's up Metro! Yeah, so far so good. I like the Arc Blast. Two of my buddies have the DCF and have had it for 3 plus years. They haven't had any issues with durability. We will see. I have my fingers crossed that it will last the "test of time." Yeah, looking forward to the PMT my friend. Crow
@@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING I have only heard good things about the Zpacks Arc Blast and I’m sure it will last you 3+ years. Let’s catch up soon to talk about the plan for the hike. Looking forward to it!
Hey hiker dude! I know that segment! Wasn’t easy! I still need to do the Blue Ridge Parkway section of it - 20 miles. Mile High doesn’t open till April. Need to do Segment 2 sometime. Have you done it?
Appreciate Mike! No, I haven't done segment two. I hope to do it sometime soon. I think Side Trail Adventures has done several sections of the trail. Thanks for watching my friend. Crow
