Great explanation and demonstration -- very straightforward. I was expecting the process to be much more difficult! Thanks.

For anyone who is wondering about the height of the rings. I just purchased a CZ 457 American and a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 Rimfire MOA and mounted them with the Warne 721M rings which are the medium height rings. They fit the scope and gun perfectly and I have about 5mm of clearance from the bell of the scope to the barrel. I haven't tried the high Warne rings, but I can say that the medium are perfect for me!

Thanks for the reply. Any issues with the bolt clearing the rings if they are placed further back?
@punchedchunk3483
@punchedchunk3483 Год назад
@@dtomic17 I have absolutely no issues with the bolt clearing the rings at all, and I mounted mine further back. It should be noted that I mounted it on a CZ 457 which has the 60 degree bolt, rather than the 90 degree of the CZ 455. The Warne rings are a perfect fit!

Did you need a rail too or does the rifle come optics ready?
@punchedchunk3483
@punchedchunk3483 Год назад
@@stephenchapman4534 It has an 11mm dovetail rail from the factory. As long as you get scope rings that fit that size you won't need any rail adapter or anything to mount a scope. I do see many other people use a dovetail to picatinny adapter, which is definitely an option. Using an adapter like that will usually offer some sort of MOA correction (usually about 20) enabling longer range shooting and you won't have to worry about finding 11mm ring mounts as it will allow you to use 3/8 which is the standard size. The only downside of using an adapter is that it raises the height of the scope substantially but that concern is completely subjective, just something to keep in mind.

I put a small level on my scopes. Then i make sure ots leveled front to back. Especially on an older rifle

Also trial run the bolt being fitted to make sure it doesn't clip the mag ring.

and quite a few other things like magazines in the way, incorrect mounts attached to receivers and misaligned, Weaver v Picatinny, Gunshop versus Amazon quality, the list could go on forever

Hi Chris, fantastic and very informative video tutorial 👏 What height are those rings? What setup would you recommend to fit Element Optics Helix 4-16x44 on CZ457 Royal ? Would you use the same type of rings? I'd like to fit the scope as low as possible. Thanks 👍

Hi Chris, many thanks for your video, much appreciated. My question is, when setting up the eye-relief does it matter what magnification you are on? Or should it be max?? Regards from deepest Dorset 👍
@chrisparkin431
@chrisparkin431 3 года назад
generally speaking, eye relief will vary very slightly as magnification changes so go midway for starters and refine it as and when you find your chosen magnification or shooting position needs it varying slightly

What torgue is needed for scope rings and what - for dove tail connection ?
@chrisparkin431
@chrisparkin431 3 года назад
That depends entirely on the size, design and if the manufacturer has used decent materials and fasteners. If they quote it, trust them, if they don't, trust your own feelings and go very steadily as many will rip out or tear off the heads at far lower values than industrially specified for the fastener size. Why? because they are junk materials and feel like toffee when torqued

@@punchedchunk3483 does your cz 457 have a varmint barrel? Im thinkin about the warne rings myself but i bought a 457 varmint
@punchedchunk3483
@punchedchunk3483 Год назад
@@18jeepsrt74 I have the CZ 457 American with the standard barrel. I would still suggest the warne rings as to my knowledge the varmint model has the same 11mm dovetail mount for a scope. Plus you can flip the clamps around to work on the standard size too. You may want to get the higher rings though. I would be concerned that a 40mm objective may be a little tight on the varmint model.
