Very interesting. I had the opportunity to live abroad as a teenager. I love adventure also. I love the French accent and the French perspective. I believe that the French are more philosophical but also more realistic than Americans.
I love Cambodia and Vietnam but the clear difference between these 2 guys is one is tied to a job and the other is free to go where he wants, both impressive men and I don't mean that as a criticism, Julien is very job oriented and should know many people can survive without working for a company, very useful thx to you both
@@MoveToAsia yes for sure. To be honest Cambodia has come up with an immigration app that you have to report all movements within the country to immigration. That gave me a bad feeling. So I left the country. Anyway the country being Taken over by China. So a very different feel now. Most foriegn teachers left the country. Low pay in schools and lots of competition .
Thank you for sharing this video! I am interested in moving to Cambodia from the USA. How can I get a hold of Julien for more info about living in Phnom penh? Thank you!
Outstanding ! After many years of growing up in America some of my families end up moving back to Cambodia business , economic are highly raising . Beautiful so much more natural resources affordable lifestyle , housing market condo affordable and Nearly builds etc… Thank you for choosing Cambodia 🇰🇭🙏🏽🇰🇭🙏🏽🇰🇭💕💕
Useful video, in about a year I will be finish a job and have a good amount of cash in the bank, looking it up a tourist visa it seems they last for 6 months! My plan was to move back to a city in the US and do online courses for a career I am actually interested in but have been thinking about doing those same courses while living in SE Asia, I do have a close friend living in a nearby country and I don't think I'll ever get a chance to do something like this again. Guess it would really just hing on internet connection speed in Phnom Penh. I do think I'll do a trip to SE Asia before I start up school again so I'll have to come visit and see how I like it.
Phnom Penh usually has good internet connections for remote workers. No problem about it. Trips and moving around (outside of Cambodia) will be difficult. But as long as you have some savings, it can cover the requirements for the immigration and quarantine fees, things should be all right. Take care
@@MoveToAsia thanks again! I'd likely be looking at going over in the Spring/Summer of 2021 so it's just an early research stage. I heard that Cambodia might be looking into the 'Sandbox' method Thailand is trying in Phuket so I'm hoping traveling is a little easier for vaccinated folks next year.
You are welcome Victor ! Most of the expats and foreigners working in Cambodia are living in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap. If you want to find a job, it's the best place but if you have an entrepreneurship mindset then you can consider other locations such as Kampot or Battambang for instance.
Hello Thibault. Sure, things are getting more stricts. One video from an expatriate having experience in all Asia will be released soon and we will talk about it.
....Good video....I need to be giving Cambodia a hard look as a place to live. I can see little in the way of negatives....I suspect he has been there for 5 years because it is a fantastic lifestyle...
Thanks for the feedback ! I appreciate it ! Yeah Cambodia is still an emerging country so it's obviously not for everyone. But if that's the environment you like to be living in : sure give it a trial and see if you like it :)
@lonnie Christopher "Little in the way of negatives"? Really? See Laurent Graphiste's post of a month ago. I have been wondering if Cambodia could be for me, but Mr. Graphiste is making me reconsider. Bonne chance!
Hi there! I am moving to Cambodia in 2 months as an English Teacher. Is there a possibility I can have Julien's contact, so I can ask him more about Cambodia? I highly appreciate this video as it is up to date and on point!
Hello Noura, here is Julien's LinkedIn if you want to drop him a message : www.linkedin.com/in/julien-lussiez-615a9680/ (you can say you watched his interview :)). Wish you great vibes for your moving abroad !
To Rondan,i already watched your video.i'm from Indonesia and i want to ask sometime in here if want to work we saw a job vacancy which some of them is a scam offer to work like pay some money to have this position, and we doesn't know this job vacancy it legit or not how we can minimize it or how to avoid that, thank you for the time for reply
Hi, I think that's not legit. Paying to get a job is weird right ? Becareful and don't be naive. Find trustworthy real employers, apply for a real job, pass interviews and then you can get paid to expatriate to Cambodia.
I was in Cambodia for 4 years. I had a great time. Very cheap and easy visas. If you want to open a business it's very easy. I just got bored doing the same thing being retired and mostly alone. The Chinese ruined it for normal people and retiring too
Hi mr rondan, glad to see your channel talk many things about cambodia and i was already subscribe your channel. i was get job in cambodia this month, and i have already done with medical check up as a request from employer, it has my first job abroad and i got accepted from this company. i wanna ask something that if i do quarantine in a hotel room, can i get out from the hotel and exploring many things? or i should to dont go anywhere in quarantine period? and how expensive to life there with $500 salary in a month? is it enough? but meals are provided from my company, and a room for rest/sleep. thank you in advance!
Hi, $500 is not a lot, but it can be a point to start out. If you company pay for the accomodation later, then it's pretty ok. Quarantine means quarantine. No out :)
Hello Rondan, I watched your previous video about living in VN, and now you moved to Cambodia, you just lived in Dakao, Saigon city last June Jwould you share with us why did you leave VN?
Yes it is possible if you fit the current requirements of money to deposit in a bank account as well as afford all the expenses (flight, quarantine in specific hotels etc ...)
Cambodia has the 1 year visa and you don't have to worry about it for an entire year. I think the Philippines you have to do immigration check-ins every few months and pay each time.
Is it difficult to get a work permit in Cambodia and go live their on that work permit if I already have remote work in UK, which being remote means I can work anywhere? 1.If I've already got remote work in this way, is it just a case of applying for a work permit in Cambodia? 2. Living in Cambodia would mean I wouldn't get taxed on my UK salary? Many thanks if you know these answers!
Taxes are depending on your tax residency. If it's Cambodia, then you will pay your taxes in Cambodia if it's in UK (mostly as your employer is located there) then you will still be taxed in UK ...
@@MoveToAsia Thanks for clearing that up. I thought there might be small print or something more complex, but if that's the case it sounds a perfect situation
I guess hard. But if you find bars and develop a network to plan events and be on stage, why not ! Just come there with some savings in case it's hard to generate some income for the first months.
@@MoveToAsia Thx. I'm more concerned of the locals busting foreigners for taking jobs away. I just want to play music to have fun, meet people without worries of doing anything illegal
It should be all right, if you have a foreign band for fun, you can make a partnership with a venue (a bar, a restaurant, ...) and get a small commission on the drinks or something similar as you help them to sell more / attract your own fan-base. It's fine on a small scale to do it on your own.
I think Phnom Penh could use a couple of good jazz bands, playing in those clubs on the rooftops. Hi, did you check some job boards that are already providing some companies to reach out in your industry ? Know it's pretty a tricky time to find a job, but obviously you should give a trial !
Merci
I have lived in Cambodia, and I would not recommend it. The people are incredibly rude and discrimated against foreigners during covid. The people who work in jobs do whatever they want and give terrible service often. They can even be disrespectful to an incredible degree. Other countries in the region are much friendlier to say the least.
I’m Cambodian, how long have you lived in Cambodia and how many cities or provinces have you visited? There are rude and friendly people everywhere on earth. It is not fair to say that Cambodia People are generally rude.
@@dearsorie3846 I lived there for a number of years, and I have never been treated so badly in all of my life especially during covid. There are serious problems in the service areas and people can have terrible attitudes. I can compare this to other countries in the region and it is much better by like a factor of 10x. I could give you a list of 100 things off hand.
yes sure,i has live retiree in thailand, build own house ,marry thai wqife and have children but thailand fight me out nbot can make visas. thailand visa law have all world wqorst idiot shit law and only want foreigns money.
18:57 "Strict reglementation" - this man is a believer. I pity him seriously. Thanks again for this info Guillaume. If possible for you, because it is off your subject, I like to know about rules for nonvaxxed / healthy people. I expect a 180′ turn by countries, like Costa Rica did some months ago. And if possible rules for self retired people. I am selfmade and have no official retirement by state. I left the system 40 years ago. In the Americas they ask for income from bankrupt state "funds".
interesting, i need go out thailand some month later, visa end and not can make new visa need too lot money. i has live in thailand retiree 7 year, own house, new car, wife, children byut need go out thailand to cambodia because not visa can. i travellin g before china 6 month around country, i fly to china center plaver and travel there spiral out of centerr, 6 month. asian i has travelling before 20 year ewery year 1-3 month about. now need go to cambodia, how rules and bordens have open today. i thibk best retiree trip me have b angkok to poi pet borden and then buss to siem reap city, rent somewere 100$ room and stay here, how long visa need make at bangkok ? and what need, 2 vaccinate i has take in thailand thai goverment pay has free.

Yes ! I lived there for almost one year. Safer than some part of France for sure ! Walk at 2am in Phnom Penh vs in Paris, easy to find the one that is the safest :)
This guy is full of crap. It is illegal for a foreigner to do a job that a Khmer can do. If your not a Native English speaker you will have a very hard time getting a job teaching English. No school is going to hire someone with a strong accent like you guys have.
