MOVED ON WILD CAMPING 🇬🇧Camping outside one night - Bamford Edge Peak District
We spent one night camping outside at Bamford Edge in the Derbyshire Peak District. This was the first time we had ever tried wild camping in the UK and everything was going to plan until we were moved on by a game keeper.
Same as many people the UK lockdown has taken it's tole and we wanted to try out our skills one night Wild Camping to get a break away from our home routines. Follow along as we attempt to camp outside for one night overlooking the beautiful Bamford Edge in the Derbyshire Peak District. Are we are allowed to wild camp in England or is it Illegal to wild camp in the UK.

Just stumbled across your channel and this vid. Not the first time I’ve heard of people being moved on from Bamford Edge. Shame about it but as you and the gamekeeper have pointed out, it’s those irresponsible types ruining it for the rest of us. Well done for accepting it like adults as I’m sure some don’t. Tip is to find remote spots while out on walks that are well out the way, not the more popular spots such as Bamford or Stanage Edges.

Area's like this are more popular now as people have had a lot of time on their hands this past year & a half. 2021 was bound to be a busy outdoors period also as people are staying in the UK for holidays. @danandmarissa
@danandmarissa 3 года назад
@Andrew Howe I agree whole heartedly agree. Covid hasbeen a strange time where restrictions, that didn’t seem to make sense, were forced upon us and then to be told it’s ok to start going outside again AND then being moved away from the countryside was a real kick in the teeth.. but it’s not the young lads choice who moved us on. If I was to stand there and make his life hard out of some self-righteous notion it wouldn’t of made any of us a winner. I really enjoyed reading your outlook on the situation thought! Thanks again mate!!

@williamcoulter5462 Год назад
When you see the mess so called wild campers leave at places like Glencoe Scotland you can understand the reasons for being moved on. The Scottish Forestry have also banned wild camping on their estates due to the mess being left behind, nobody likes to stop at a picnic area to find human c**p around the picnic tables as well as empty/broken bottles laying around. I watched a group of cyclists leave a mess in Glencoe, they just left all their rubbish and a torn tent and rode off towards Tyndrum obviously the last stop of their tour so they just left what they no longer needed for someone else to clean up.

It’s a shame the responsible LNT wild campers are treated the same as the recent influx of fly campers. Though I can understand the land owners reasons for the treatment of everyone they same way. The problem is that the fly campers would never watch a decent wild camping video and think, I’d like to do that and then take responsibility for their actions. Instead they rock up at Decathlon, Go, or even the big supermarkets, buy the cheapest crap they can and then proceed to have big open fires, leave a large amount of rubbish behind, including tents, chairs and broken bottles and not give a damn about their responsibilities. And this from a generation that supposedly cares about the environment. Let me correct myself there. This from a generation that blames Gen X and baby boomers for the Earths demise, and yet aren’t willing to take any responsibility for their own actions. The only thing I can add to those that are willing to wild camp responsibly is avoid the obvious hotspots. Things are only going to get tougher this year.

Hi Graham, thanks so much for your comment. I couldn’t agree more, it’s always the case in any walk of life. The few spoil it for the masses and blanket punishment is implemented. You have absolutely stupid rules in the uk regarding wild camping. These are the rules in Norway which the UK should adopt. .............................................................................................................................. The freedom to stay and camp anywhere in nature is based on the Everyman's Right (Norwegian Allemannsretten). The Everyman's Right is a customary right, whose roots go back to the Middle Ages. It is the right of every human being, to enjoy nature and use its fruits, regardless of the ownership of the land. However, there are some points to consider: The right only applies to uncultivated land, i.e. land that is not cultivated (e.g. fields, parking lots, gardens, etc.) and is not fenced in. There must be at least 150 meters distance to the next house or hut. You can camp for two days without permission. If you want to camp longer, you must get permission from the landowner. However, if you are camping in the mountains or very remote areas, you may stay longer without permission. The Everyman's Right is only for non-motorized travelers, campers or motorhomes should be parked on pitches, or at the roadside to preserve nature. .................................................................................................................................................................. We have a common sense rule regarding fires that isnt the law. Like you are allowed to have one if there is snow or there has been a lot of rain, I have a camp fire next to a lake for example because I have a way of extinguishing it. Or if you are on a beach there is no real way for a fire to spread. I have to say as well its almost a way of life in Norway for people to go with their entire families away up into the mountains wildcamping, my neighbor and her husband are in their 80s and they do it, her mother is 106 and still goes with them.
@danandmarissa
@danandmarissa 3 года назад
I wish things were more in line with your rules over here. Maybe because of lock down the game keepers have been keeping a closer eye on things. People want to get out more now the restrictions have lifted and camping is a way to escape. I think as soon as travel opens up the wild camping trend will tail off. Thanks for your comment 🙂
