In this episode of The Art of Move Podcast, Dr William Rajbar and Anthony Manuele discuss the idea of intent as it pertains to being a driver of movement, then follow-up with a whole tirade of questions about where the origin of intent/consciousness actually arises.
We explore materialism (the brain being a physical system in which consciousness arises) as well as more abstract ideas like the physicality of our system being more of a 'radio receiver' to a larger field of unified consciousness or source.
This is far from a technical episode - more of a philosophical pontification - but we'd love to know your thoughts and where you think our ideas could be more refined by better information (hence why our ideas are 'In-Formation')
Hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did...

Great episode! I think locomotive patterns are stored in the ether or the field just like our memories and accessed via morphic resonance (see Rupert Sheldrake). We resonate most strongly with the field of our own past movement patterns but when our own patterns don't have a strong field for a particular movement, the effect of morphic resonance with the collective field of other people becomes a bigger factor. We especially resonate with other people (through space and time) with whom we have genetic, epigentic, biochemical and bioelectric similarities. A lot of people are boosting the morphic field of WOATA movement these days, maybe it is helpful for our movement to try resonate with our ancestors more than our contemporaries. GOATA used to have a video with a bunch of Amish people walking with the pressure wave, I wonder if their lifestyle and non-electrified environment help them resonate more with the movement patterns of people in the past.

I've always called it "being in the zone" - just older terminology I guess. Will is asking "meta" questions. We know we can practice a specific discipline for untold hours and thereby access a flow state at will within that discipline. What if we just practice the flow state itself? Or: we know we can achieve fluidity in a given sport, but what if we just practiced fluidity itself? Could that work? I think the answer is "yes with a but." You can and it will, but first you have to achieve it within disciplines before you know it enough to practice it as its own skill. Similarly you can practice being loving and charitable, or just and fair in all things, but only after you've experienced and worked on it with family, friends, your work, a partner, yourself. With that said, you guys are on the right track. The goal is to be in that flow state at all times. Concentration without effort, at all times. Honestly, I'm afraid that might just be step one.

I do wonder if you're aware of the orthodox Christian idea of theosis. It seems to me a lot of the spiritual concepts we look towards in trying to understand the problems that we've encountered in materialism and our personal lives as whole, . . in part the questions and solutions regarding of being cleansed, the role of our effort, transcendence of our false notions etc., becoming real persons, as is good to be, is foundationally answered through the concept and practice of theosis. It's key part of (unmodernised) Christianity and that almost none of us in in the west have explicitly been made aware of. A concept which, I say personally, would have been very appreciated to know of earlier. The old saints speaking of the Noetic faculty, theosis, hesychasm etc. is to me truly grounding and seems to me to be very relevant in this kind of discussion. Forgive me if I have misrepresented anything as I am still learning and confused my self.
