Working at SCRAP, the Scroungers Center for Reusable Art Parts, for the SF Neighborhood Arts Program, Bernie Lubell created an environment for two Dancers, Rhodessa Jones and Benito Santiago, to explore as a movement Improvisation. The performance was videoed by Bill Roarty with a Sony Porta Pack (1/2” reel to reel) and an old TV as monitor that we moved around with a shopping cart - Taking care to keep the extension cord dis-entangled.
At that moment, SCRAP occupied the entirety of Pier 3 in San Francisco's Fort Mason. All of the participants, Rhodessa, Benito, Bill and myself had been hired to work with the SF school district with money from the CETA (Comprehensive Education and Employment Act) program. Video equipment was borrowed from the SFAI.
