Yaaaas. My personal favourite Bond film. Not many fight scenes from the 60’s still stand up in 2021 as being utterly badass. Great video

This was perfect over a cup of coffee this morning....funny and thrilling, the two of you have great chemistry but lover her first reactions! What an amazing thing to see these with fresh eyes. And love the new format...makes me feel like I am in the third seat in the room! BRING ON GOLDFINGER!

Great video! I love this series because it’s so different. No other bond channel has done this before I don’t think. Seeing her reaction to some of the iconic scenes we’ve seen many times is just awesome. Keep up the great work Jeroen and Lyrith!

Thanks a lot! Yes, my goal with this series was to defenitely be original within the community! At the same time, I felt the old on the spot series (my gf watches Bond) had potential but needed more planning and updating. Im glad you like the result!

Having seen two videos now, I really enjoy this new series. What's great about it is that I can completely relate to the conversation. My wife and I had similar conversations as I showed her all of the films. Of course sharing my Bond knowledge at every opportunity. Looking forward to the next video.

That guy at 26:14 being Ian Fleming is pretty much a myth at this point. Calvin does a good job dispelling it in his video.

It’s one of the best Bonds. A great ally, maybe the best henchman of them all and a fantastically evil and creepy secondary villain in Rosa Klebb. And Daniela Bianchi is stunning! The Bond short story that introduces the back story of Red Grant is one of my favourites.

Glad you enjoy! Well, there is no standard for it, but so far I recorded them on saturdays and usually got the full length unedited reaction up on the same day for the premium supporters. Then the edited episode you are watching here, I was able to get done within two large edit days, so around monday. That then goes up on Patreon first, around tuesday, and went public the following friday. And right now its the same, Im almost done editing Goldfinger. The full length is already up on Patreon, and the edited version should be up there soon too, for it to go public next friday. 😄👍🏼

Bits of Monty Norman's DR. NO score were still used in this movie and GOLDFINGER. In this one, it's used during the helicopter scene and the fiery boat finale. In GOLDFINGER, it's briefly heard at the start of the scene where Bond is almost bisected by a laser beam. The Ian Fleming novel of FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE ends with Rosa Klebb stabbing Bond with her poison shoe blade and Bond slumping unconscious to the floor. So it has an open ending in which Bond may or may not be dead. I've read that before the movie came out, Lotte Lenya was such a beloved music hall performer that people thought she was miscast as such an evil villain as Klebb.
@DutchBondFan
@DutchBondFan 2 года назад
Now that you pointed those Monty Norman instances out, I know exactly which ones you mean! I wasnt aware, but it makes so much sense those arent Barry! I wonder why they did that though... And yeah I love that ending to the novel, but I can see why they wouldnt use it for the movie, especially at the time!

Confession Time: When I first watched From Russia With Love, I hated this film. I even ranked this as my worst 007 film of all time 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♀️😱 yes I know, I know. After some Bond fans from the James Bond 007 RU-vid page who either called me crazy or just asked me to give it another chance because if I did, my opinion will change. I did and since then I give FRWL a 7.5 out of 10. Lyrith, after you watch all 25 James Bond films rewatch From Russia With Love because you will enjoy it alot more on the second time around.

I forget if I read the book or saw the movie first. The book is more straight-forward, the movie more complicated, because of the added business of SPECTRE manipulating the Russians, and wanting to steal the decoder to sell it back to them. Ever since I saw this on a big screen in 1980, it's been my FAVORITE Connery Bond film by a wide margin... and my 2nd-favorite Bond film out of the whole series (after "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE"). I've still got "fullscreen" copies on videotape; I hope eventually to get widescreen copies on DVD. It was nly a few years ago it occured to me that the perfect actor to have played Blofeld back then would have been George Sanders. It baffles me that I never heard any mention of anyone ever even suggesting him for the part. It wold have been a real capstone of his entire career.
@kennethfrawley
@kennethfrawley Год назад
Well done, guys! Yet, the story is not complex. Actually, due to the intricacy of the story, and that brilliant fight scene on the train, I consider FRWL the single best film of the Bond lot. Now, I know CR and GF get raves, yet FRWL is raw and absent of CGI. Moreover, in GF, Bond forces himself upon PG to save the world? No! I liked GF, but it cannot hold a candle to FRWL Lastly, DBF, I greatly enjoy your content. Stay brilliant!

Bond was a phenomenon borne of the shame and desperation occasioned by Burgess, Maclean and Philby who were followed later into British infamy by Blunt and Cairncross. Fleming created a fictional hero to make up for the traitors who had ruined the reputation of the British clandestine services. It's a pity Bond wasn't real, but as it turned out much later, neither was Soviet invincibility.
