Wayne decided to move to Panama after living in Costa Rica for almost 20 years. Watch this video to find out why.
Wayne emailed this additional testimonial about his experience with Panama Relocation Tours:
Firstly, I want to thank Jackie and Ellen on behalf of my wife and myself for delivering so much more than we expected on the tour. Jackie seems to live her life immersed in the experience, not only the journey. That fact was realized as she guided us through various Panamanian provinces introducing us to numerous cities each with an example of living and housing costs, both to rent and own. We had " boots on the ground " introduction into the local foods, pristine beaches, customs and cultural influences that were unequaled. Besides, we were given along the way tidbits of invaluable information on the do and do not within the Latin culture, not to mention contacts with honest reliable people to avoid the potential pitfalls of relocating to new environment.
Another plus was meeting wonderful people from all walks of life, some of whom we hope to keep as friends in our future.
Thanks to all the team at Panama Relocation Tours for a job WELL DONE!!!

Wayne, I realize this was made about a year ago but I did want to thank you for an excellent video. Been watching Bob Adams talk about Costa Rica and Panama tonight and yours kicked in right afterwards. Been following Jackie Lange for some time now also. Yes, she is an amazing woman. I will be down there next month, April. Spent a summer in Costa Rica back in the 90’s and am very anxious to see it’s southern neighbor. I agree with you that Panama might be a better choice for retirement these days. Did the canal on a cruise ship fall of 2019. Looking forward to meeting the Panamanians and seeing their beautiful country. Plan on selling my condo in Phoenix and making the move soon.

Great video. It makes me proud to hear you speak well of my country of birth, Panama. If one does not have a lot of money saved when you retire in the states it will be impossible to remain living there. Social security benefits will not as many retirees know, cover all your monthly expenses. I lived in NY, moved to Georgia due to my job then 2 years prior to my retirement my wife and I moved back to NY where I continue to wok until We both applied for early retirement last year. Our plan was to retire and move to Panama, where we were both born. Still having family and friends in Panama, we visited often. We never lost our Spanish. Heck, being Panamanians living in the states we watch CNN and Telemundo for our novellas. That tells you how in tune we remained in our culture. I must admit that we do love the states for many reasons but time have changed since I moved from Panama as a teenager to NY. On our way to Panama, we stopped in Medellin, Colombia. This was in March of last year. We are still in Medellin. LOL... The quality of life in Medellin and cost of living is unbelievable. And, I mean his from he heart, the people from his beautiful city are very friendly and super helpful. It is a beautiful place to live. The current exchange rate makes life very comfortable or expats. I am Panamanian to the core and totally agree with everything that you commented about Panama. I know hat you an your wife will love Panama and will continue o enjoy your retirement there. Blessings

I’m Costa Rican and I agree totally with him. He was actually very gracious about it. Costa Rica is not what it used to be! Too expensive, too crowded and they don’t care to protect the environment as much as they appear. If they would, it wouldn’t be so dirty. Socialism is also creeping in and it’s only going to get worse. Even food is outrageous most of the time and we have the land to grow everything we need, plus both oceans and major highways are decent. So tell me why does food cost so much?!! No excuse. My mother lives there. My sister moved there 9 years ago. I’m living in Texas. If I leave USA it’ll be for the better. Panama sounds great. I also have Portugal in mind. Cheers!

@@YHW77777 I am not Portuguese but I have been researching about living in Portugal, I am Brazilian, so Portugal is a good destination for me (same language, some cultural similarities, many Brazilians there ..), and in Portugal it is relatively easy to immigrate (even for Brazilians , so it should be easy for Americans), especially for retirement if you have an interesting income (you don't need much, the minimum wage is 700 euros = 825 dollars a month, and most people don't get much higher than that), the cost of living there is very interesting (mainly outside Lisbon), with a 2 euro coin you buy a lot of things .. but the most interesting thing, in my view, is the public health, safety, average climate system, and the fact you will be well located, a few hours from the main cities of the world (western) .. I think of maybe immigrating there, in search of a more peaceful life, and having dual citizenship from another European Union country, I can live there without a visa, it is an advantage also (if you has dual citizenship from some European Union country immigrating to Portugal becomes very simple).. Perhaps the greatest barrier for some Americans to immigrate to Portugal may be the language, despite the similarity with the Spanish language, but for sure Portugal is an amazing place to live..

Daniel O thank you for your input. I think I can pick up on Portuguese language without a problem as I’ve taken classes before and understood it with ease. Although it has been many years and I’m sure forgotten it by now. But I sure love it!

Thank you for this informative and encouraging video! It looks like it was made shortly before the "pandemia/cuarentena" and am wondering if Wayne and his "still girlfriend" actually made the move. In a similar situation, though in Guatemala and likely on a tighter budget, I am thrilled to get the perspective on relocating to Panama from an American already living in Central America who is fully assimilated into the culture and language. While having a welcoming community of new/newer transplants is a draw, I'm more interested in learning about the reality of local community life (especially in the highlands), as well as having myriad questions about the nuts and bolts of being an American relocating from a neighboring country rather than from the US or Canada. Thanks again to Wayne and Jackie. Maybe once COVID-19 is largely in the rearview mirror, I'll find my way to Panama for a look-see.

I've been exploring different Latin American countries to reside in. I just retired and so far checked out Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. There are pros and cons to all these places. Cost of living is important to me, not because I'm poor (I'm not!) or dependent solely on a social security check but Like Wayne I want "the most bang for my buck." I hear there is some crime in Panama City though.

True, Costa Rica is expensive, there's a couple of reasons for that and one it's called Social Security, wich Panama invests less on that. Nevertheless, Panamá is an amazing country, invests a lot on infrastructure, and has good revenues due to the Canal, most of the country's income comes from it.

What you say does not make sense, that Costa Rica has social peace, let's do an analysis: Costa Rican government budget 2023: 18 billion, of which 48% goes to debt, for 5.2 million inhabitants. Panama 2023 Budget: 34 billion, of which 15% is allocated to debt, for 4.3 million inhabitants. Social peace: Poverty in Costa Rica: 25% Poverty in Panama: 20% GDP PPP per capita 2022: Costa Rica: 24,280 Panama: 36,370 Homicides 2022 Costa Rican 12.2 Panama 10.1 The private health of Panama is much higher than Costa Rica, and the public health of Costa Rica with that of Panama is the same quality, unlike in Costa Rica it is Free, Panama invests much more in hospitals. Panama invests much more than Costa Rica in social matters. Costa Rica is in the OECD, the club of "rich" countries. Panama being the richest country in Latin America, even so, Panama is the center of foreign investment in the region. Being in the OECD does not guarantee Costa Rica social peace, it is how the country is managed economically, socially and politically and in this Panama is far ahead of Costa Rica. I have never heard of a Panamanian moving to Costa Rica, however, there are many Costa Ricans who come to Panama to buy food and medicine, clothing, technology, to give themselves luxuries that cannot be afforded in Costa Rica. Panama is a great country and there is none like it in Central America. Pure Life Soy un Español en Centroamérica.
