if anyone is wondering - yes you can live in chicago for way cheaper than 4k. but if 4k is your budget, all the power to you :P

True. As a Chicagoan $4000 p/ mo is about the rent apartment 'deal" in NYC. The average rent for a 1 bedroom in Chicago is around $1900 - 2500 per month depending on the neighborhood and amenities. But Cora has 3 roommates (~$1300 per person) so that's much more practical and will pay a bit more to live in Lincoln Park or Lakeview.... if it was $4000 for a one bedroom that would be insane even for a luxury condo Downtown.

@@hansonel that would be insane. throwback to a few years ago even when a decent one bed was much cheaper! I didn't watch the video honestly, I saw "4k" and "Chicago Apartment" in one sentence and it blew my mind. In my opinion, 4k is still crazy for a 3 bed... if I'm living with roommates I better be paying less than 1k 🤣

What was the reason you did not want to live downtown? The cost of this apartment would be more worth it downtown so was it just because of the noise, quality, etc?

I really wanted to have my car so that I am able to visit friends, family, and my boyfriend. I also just like the freedom of having my car in case I need it. I will definitely be using public transportation A LOT, but when I leave the city I want to have my car available. And having a car downtown is EXPENSIVE. like $200-500 a month just to park a car hahaha. I also like being close to the city but in more of a neighborhood. The north area I live in is the majority people my age which I like! Overall, i don't think i'd ever wanna live downtown because its not as practical for me personally!
