that's crazy cheap, did you find this unit on Airbnb? The ones I am seeing are all $750+ which I thought is a rip off for Cambodia. I can get a place in Bangkok for that. For whatever reason I found Cambodia to be too expensive given what you're getting.
$750 is really expensive in Cambodia for this unit! I wouldn’t use Airbnb, the prices are inflated. I used Facebook, just type in for example, “Cheap Rent Apartments Siem Reap Cambodia” or “Apartments for rent in Siem Reap” in Facebook search and join groups. There you will find plenty of listings for under $350/month that are beautiful and agents who will show you many apartments for half the price or more of Airbnb. I hope this helps. @@SteveCambodiaTravelVlog awesome, thanks for this tip, I will try it out :) I do agree, Airbnb used to be reasonable but now hosts there are just jacking up the rates to ridiculous levels because they know Americans and Canadians don't bat an eye and pay it because $750 or whatever is still cheap compared to say Toronto, so they know this and take advantage and these ignorant westerners who don't bother to research anything think they are getting such a deal... I have literally heard some Canadians brag about how much of a steal their $1300/month apartment in Colombia is since the price is $4000/month in Toronto... well, the local price is like $400 LOL so they are getting ripped off anyway. Well, that is my rant sorry :)

Yes, Sok San Road is a 20 to 25 minute walk (1.2 kms). Temple design Restaurant(open 24 hours) that I did a video on and the majority of restaurants and cafes in walking distance are a 25 minute walk (1.5km). If you prefer a Tuk Tuk one day (say it’s raining) then it will cost $1.25 USD each way on Sok San Road. The video I have on Temple design bar, Nick Restaurant and luxury restaurant that cost $15 for 2 people are all on Sok San Road. Some of the best restaurants and cafes are on that road. I hear you on that one about walking in the heat for 20-25 minutes. Yes, there are a couple local street food vendors, local restaurants, coffee stalls , salons, and more on Bakheng Rd, which is the next street down. I would say closer to an 8 minute walk though. However, the larger coffee shops and restaurants are located on Sok San Road which are further out. I mostly go there if I don't want to travel too far from my Apartment. Great point! Are there any larger apartments in this building? Also I notice the name is Ly Apartments, are the owners Vietnamese? My wife and I arrive September 17 for our second trip there this year. We hope to explore housing options for our move there next year. Thank you

I just checked yesterday and as of right now there is only 1 studio apartment available but apartments can open up in 2 weeks so you can check again with me if you like or you can visit the residence anytime to check when an apartment will be available. There are larger apartments available. The prices I’ve seen have ranged from $280 to $700 per month. One of my subscribers just booked a 1 bedroom apartment(larger then the studio in the video) with a nice pool view a couple days ago. Curious what a negotiated 6 month lease might be got for ? -- After the 1st mo. a longer term - perhaps even a year could be discussed ? -- A scooter rental could also be had cheaply is my understanding from my research already. - - - A very nice find.
Thanks for watching! This rate is for a 1 to 6 month contract. Even though the ad says minimum 6 months you can still negotiate anywhere from 1 to 6 months with owners especially during low/rainy season. Anything over 6 months with this particular owner would be slightly negotiable (spoke to about 5 or 6 tenants who stayed there ranging from 1 month to over 5 years) and the rates don’t change more than $10 to $20 even for 1 year terms. However it’s a great find and deal considering everything including and the proximity to everything in town. Scooter rentals go from $100 to $200 per month depending on what type of scooter you want. I got my friend a basic used Honda scooter for $120/month which he ended up buying for $900 after the first month. I appreciate the comment! Great questions! Yes I left Canada last year and never turned back! I was done with Canada and so happy to be in Cambodia. It’s a breath of fresh air and way less stress. If you have small family and you have passive income 2 or 3 k per month you would living free and like king . The rest after spending can save for retirement if you live the place not high cost.

By June there will be plenty of options in your budget. I can send you link with all the available options 2 weeks before you need your apartment if you like. So let me know 2 weeks before so I can have an updated list. Usually an apartment listing is taken down after a week or less as of now. You will definitely find something nice for $250
I just don't like the tv in front of the bed. I never watch tv in bed. I'd want a couch or love seat. But I need to leave Pattaya as soon ass my lease is up. Too many drunks and Russians.

I actually did exactly what you said and checked into a 4 star hotel first for 1 month and visited many apartments with my Khmer girlfriend whose family have lived her for generations. I visited apartments recommended by her family who live in Cambodia, friends of mine who have lived in Siem Reap for over 10 years and by word of mouth from local vendors. This apartment has incredible hospitality and the staff have become family to me and many foreigners who have lived her for many years, some over 8 years. Siem Reap is a beautiful place with kind hearted people who support each other and are welcoming and generous.
