I’m a for profit player in Las Vegas. I don’t usually comment on many poker vlogs but right off the bat you made me laugh playing that 84 of Diamonds saying “coming out playing very GTO”, I was dying!! I did want to address that AQ off hand. I think 4 betting the Small Blind is fine especially if you think he’s light but the mistake was open limping with it from the CO. Why did you limp for $5 instead of opening for a raise? You have a strong hand and want as much value as you can get from the players behind you. These players have no problem calling with A8 A9 A10 not to mention K9 K10 KQ and all kinds of small pocket pairs.
So in narrating I realized I made a mistake. Sometimes it's hard trying take notes really fast in the middle of a hand. It went as followed. Hero in BB btn raised to 10 sb 3b 40 then Hero 4b 135 then btn call sb 3 325
Hello Mack's Bet! Nice vlog, thanks for posting it! Hey I wanted to mention you didn't really make any big mistakes in the 88 hand. Folding to his river shove would have been weak-tight, since he should have a fair number of bluffs, compared to value.
Well in theory I do agree with that. But so many people in live poker underbluff tbh so probably closer in real time. But against tougher opponents imma have to make this call. Just hope to be right ✅️
Goo's luck out there Fam, crush them. One thing I've learned from the 15 years I've been playing. Play cards that that will crush a raise and destroy AA with 87 suited 😆
The ATo hand is a case of betting when you don’t have it then checking when you do. You can still get value from a K or a flush/straight draws when you hit your pair on the turn. Should have bet the turn as well
AK suited with the nut flush and top top and you check. You are killing your win rate by not betting big on that turn. You have a hand good enough where if you get raised you don’t mind and you need to charge draws. Keep grinding!
You're 100% right me going for a check raise is bad when that king hits my range so much more. There aren't many hands I'm beating that would bet when checked to then call when I raise them. Thank you
helpful video, lotta good hands where you had to make some tough plays. you summarized the AQ hand perfectly, out of position facing a 5-bet, you would've been on the wrong side of a flip. I think they prolly had KK or QQ. I do agree with the other comments recommending to stop showing your hands. 2-5 players are there to make money and you're giving them free info on you, giving them an edge over you if you plan to play there regularly.
Lol you're right but as I said abut showing hands them watching a vlog I post would help way more than the 5 hands I show in an hour but whenever on a good table ( a guy double flatted a 3bet and and 4 bet) I don't mind. But as I move up rank definitely will keep it at a minimum to zilch. Thank you though bro I'll have a better performance next video
Your problem is not playing too loose, is that you played right in the middle not tight and not aggressive, which is the worst place to be. First hand 84d, you have to bluff at it, pair and flush draw = premium hand, on turn. Two ways to win it, they fold or you hit the flush by river. Both the 44/88 hand, either fold or check raise the flop. You really don't want to call down with a weak pairs, end the hand there. If they re-raise you, you are behind, just fold. Great content keep up with the good work.
Really good input I definitely agree with everything you said. You're the one who hit it on the money. I'll definitely have a different showing next vlog!
Mack, protect those big hands A,K and know where your "at", you can put yourself in a bad situation checking those hands. It's a big hand A,K but it's only one pair at the end of the day! 😂no need to be tricky, take it down or back away.
You played the AA fine… you have to bet big with all the callers in front. You played the KK really well, I do like the bet on the flop. Nothing you did wrong with AK, lost the minimum. The 88 hand if you put out a blocker on 5th street - you would have been able to fold to a shove. Not your best session but you played fine.
@@FreddyEwan2timeGMoftheYear thank you. You know when you stuck you're naturally tilted a little and making the best decisions become harder. But I appreciate your support. I normally only raise 3 x but I just wanted one caller not raise to like 80 and they all get a price to call.
I mostly raise smaller with aces. don't give people a chance to read you. You telegraphed your hand and they exploited you by folding. Better to go smaller like maybe even 65 cause why? no one else raised the just called capping their ranges, now yes you could allow them to catch up and crack u but they could still do that if they called a larger size, the difference? youre less likely to get away from aces with more money in the middle. with less money you could make a live read that your opponent is strong and fold out aces eg 5 callers someone bets then it gets raised before it gets to you on the flop and the flop is 567 then you can comfortably fold knowing someone has a set and or straight.
I agree my raise was to big but also I think 65 is a little small. But 75to 85 woulda been perfect specially with aces. I think my sizing woulda been a little better with a vulnerable pair like jj qq maybe even kk. With aa i don't need protection from overcards ND can just get away from them depending on board texture as you said! Thank you
Mack.. in bigger games.. play tighter.. or take the initiative. In this session you did a lot of calling.. raise, bet or fold my friend. Calling at 2 / 5 is a good way to go broke.
@@MacksValue My comment wasn’t meant to suggest you’re ignorant. If it came across that way, my sincere apologies. “I hope your outs are always live and your pots are monsters.” Good luck 🤞
@@MacksValueI’d have pounded that turn card and would have been happy to call it off against a jam. The flop and turn are always the best time to bet because that’s where you get most of your value, people want to stay in cause their hand can improve still. Where on the river there are no more possibilities. Also people love calling with flush draws. I’d have bet like $90 or $100 on that turn
Rule to stay in the game: "Don't invest a lot of money with mediocre hands" ....Majority of time you miss the flop....small pocket pairs can be deadly, BUT ONLY IF YOU HIT YOUR SET!!!!!
Let’s say you show up somehow with one of your “bluff hands” in this instance. TT (with our without club) A5 a (no club) AKs (w/ K of clubs) AQs (w/ Q of clubs) Would you still bet 200 even tho the SPR is less than 1? What if villain jams? We have no idea where we are at in the hand and might have to fold when we could’ve either check folded (which sucks but is fine sometimes) or jammed and denied villain equity with their weaker hands that would rather call a small bet. Poker is hard
I would say the ace queen is a pure call when early position calls the $120 your pot size is almost $700. So you’d need to put in $205 to win $900 that’s crazy good pot odds. I even think a jam is acceptable but prefer the call. Sure you’ll have to fold a lot of bad flops but when someone gives me a 22% to call into a huge pot I’m calling with that strong of a hand
I think AA as played is fine. You are in late position so 2-2.5x is also acceptable but with three callers on the $20 sizing up isn’t a bad idea because worst case scenario your getting a bunch of dead money when everyone folds
Your ace king of clubs hand as played the check on the turn is something that happens a lot in 1/3 trying to induce bluffs but at higher stakes players are much more likely to check back if they have any value. Definitely should have continued betting on the turn as your hands are so strong there.
Overall great job jumping up stakes! My long term advice for moving to 2/5 would be to be a little more aggressive when playing pots as most good 2/5 players will take free cards if they have value as opposed to seeing your turn and river checks as weakness like it would be in 1/3
AA hand with 3 players I probably go 65-85, depends how much you have behind. If you stack size is less than 3-400, they just assume you will jam by flop. You got to give them hope there is a chance to see 5 cards. If everyone is deep stack 85-115 is fine.
multi way pots with 2 callers the IR typically fold with 2 more behind, depends on stack size but that would be the lowest I would go. With AA if I have to pick I prefer 2 callers than no caller if I have a choice. @@MacksValue
@@peterkan7296 absolutely I think I was so tilted fr that I'm 3 betting targeting a narrow range of jj qq ak aqs trying to hit a home run instead of the most EV decision which is raise to like 75 smh you're spot on. If someone double flats and hits the board then that's on them buti gotta make the right decisions to print money
I would have checked turns with the kings and let him turn his hand into a bluff on the river. If he doesn’t you can still jam there too and it looks a bit weaker
@@MacksValue I guess the question is are you folding any non flush hands to the bet which is what a check might convey. You also give a 5th club a chance to come on the river and then he can call hoping for a chop only needing to be correct 1 out of 3 times with that SPR
@@MacksValue I just don’t see him calling something on the turn that he would fold on the river. You give opportunity for his last $200 to get into the pot somehow this way
@@MacksValue I can’t stand the $1/$3 game at Live. The $500 over $400 max at MGM makes a huge difference. Can’t stand sitting there with 8 other players who buy in for a Benji.
I would also raise it at a small frequency but its very game and player dependant. Example if youre running like ass and playing against a big stack I would not raise i would fold even
Hello Mack! I run a 2/5 game in Arlington if you’re ever interested. $500 min 2k max buyin. If you buy in for the max I will give you $500 in chips on top
Quit showing your hands, my guy. Better players do not deserve to gain valuable knowledge. Even better for them that they didn't play the hand against you, yet they gained info of exactly what you did and why you did it. Unless everyone is showing, try to do that WAY less often. Keep em guessing. Obviously, if you wanna use it to your advantage, then def show your bluffs too.
I guess I be thinking I share my cards and thoughts with RU-vid so don't matter but I guess in the moment you're right its extra info they don't need to have
If you play with any of these people regularly they are licking their chops when you keep showing. You don't realize how much you're giving away with that. I always ask to "sweat" hands of people I play with all the time. You learn so much about sizing, timing etc... when you see how they play certain spots. It's a huge leak, but obviously do you.
@@poser1605 i hear you boss. I seriously doubt these players are anywhere close to being that good. But you never know. And giving up ev is still giving up ev ! Gotchu
