Great shifter and review as always. Moza should also include or at least manufacture as an optional accessory a shorter shaft which would transform the shifter to short-throw and stronger tactile feel.
A magnet is responsible for switching there, not a mechanical switch, did I understand correctly? If so, then it would be a great option if the 7th gear turned on normally, without lowering the lever down.
Can I ask why you haven't got the sim racing engineering mods on the CSL pedals? Did they break? didn't feel right? On the verge of pulling the trigger and the price is kind of putting me off in favour of just an RC spring from ebay.. cheers dude, another useful video :)
Quality review! So has this replaced the Project D as your No.1 shifter choice? The rubber noise dampeners are a massive selling point for me. Not shown on the website, are they included as standard? Do you know if Moza have a dedicated sequential shifter in the works?
Nice review. Plenty of options these days (this one, simjack and the generic Ali Express). Is simcat ok? She seems to be heavy breathing or is it just me?
I'm quite happy to use either on feel, they're both very nice. But it's easily fair to say the Moza is higher quality when you go through all aspects of build quality and the features.
Any way to make it easier to shift with? Mines new and it feels way stiffer than it looks like every one else’s is. I’ve felt one in store and it didn’t feel this bad either. Did I get a bad unit or can I lube it some where or adjust tension on those side screws inside or something.
There's no tension adjustment. Maybe it just needs a bit of breaking in. If you watch my teardown, you can get in there and add extra grease to the spring ball bearings.
I want to buy a moza r5 bundle with this shifter I'm on laptop so I only have 2 USB ports. Can I connect this shifter directly to the moza r5 wheel base with the "dash" input or do I have to connect it to my laptop?
Thrust basically is a piece of shit without mods. It feels like wooden stick stucked in ground. No proper feeling. I am happy after installing mods but still price is a joke. This is definitely a better choice.
I had this thing for a week, its already completely missing shifts, now it gets ZERO shifts right, their sensors in this shifter are LOOSELY installed, and it appears like they installed it with the wire below the throw rod so I imagine it just popped the wires loose, the idiots at moza couldnt even hot glue the wires in place, let alone use quality wires and sensors, all that metal and now its a $150 paper weight. NEVER buying a MOZA product again, this was a horrible experience. MANY others have this same issue mis-shifting because the wiring/sensors were not properly installed. TYPICAL Chinese company. MOZA = CHINA FANATEC = GERMANY
