I think an interesting topic would be the 12 variations of ah vous dirai-je maman. But other than that, this video was very helpful even though it was 5 minutes long.

Hey Dr. Josh, I was wondering if you have ever played the Mephisto waltz? And if you did, how many years did you play piano before that and how long did it take you to learn the piece. Thank you for making such quality content for all of youtube for free!

Thanks for the propractice videos! I was wondering, the piece of cloth you're using to cover the sheetmusic holder ( i don't know what its called precisely, english is not my main language, sorry) is some special kind of cloth designed precisely for that use? (if so could you link me where to buy it, please?) Or you just used some random cover? Thanks again

Hey Josh, I know this is not really related to the video but I was wondering if you could help me with some advice. I've been playing for roughly two and a half years and I've made some serious progress. I'm at the point where I can comfortably learn Chopin etudes within a few months time max (I've learned more than half of op. 25 no.2 in about 3 weeks). I was wondering if you have any advice on what and how I should be practicing aside from repertoire if I have roughly 1.5 hours a day?

What about the second movement? In particular I am most intrigued to know where to use the pedals and especially the sustaining pedal as in the Henle Text I have there are no markings?

Thanks for sharing all your wisdom Josh, it really means a lot! Could you do a video on how to diminish inconsistencies in playing? For example I’m leaning Chopin op 9 no 2 nocturne, and I make inconsistent and random mistakes every time I play it. It’s almost like I’m overthinking when I’m playing which causes random flubs

Pierre Cohen if you don't mind that I answer, to do random mistakes is basically normal when playing the piano is not what you've been doing professionally the whole life :) there are a few things you can do to avoid them as much as possible - analyzing the harmonies and structures and in general, trying to analyze everything what's going on inside a piece, trying not to play a piece only through but mostly practicing it in small parts, checking difficult parts and passages separately. You can also try to train yourself to be able to start a piece at any part or even a bar, it really helps. A good teacher will help a lot as well! Good luck! :)

I used to make random mistakes by overthinking, but when you overthink, you might find your playing restricted. It becomes harder to produce a good tone, harder to play forte, and you would struggle to deal with tons of error.

The simple answer is don’t overthink when you are playing. It would help if you immersed yourself in the music like you are singing. Music comes naturally. Rather than thinking techniques of what to do and worrying you might make or have already made mistakes while performing, you need to trust yourself and know that all pianists make mistakes, and we are flawed. We simply can’t do everything perfectly.
@sq0034

But these all come with practice. When you are playing, don’t overthink. Enjoy the music, and you are fine. If you still can’t relax, some body language will help eventually affect your thinking; you can also try to breathe with music and see where the music leads you. But when practicing, you need to try various ways and think hard about what you need to improve and how you can improve. Playing like thinking you are a master, but when listening to your recordings, be harsh.

2:12 If Mozart had wanted the first note of the Alberti phrase to be held wouldn't he have indicated it? It's marked just like the others in that 4-note phrase as an 1/8th note - not a 1/4 or 1/2. Maybe you feel he just took the easy way to notate?
