These are the final moments of "Mr. Belvedere's Wedding", the 22nd-and final-episode of the sixth and final season (117th overall) that served as the series finale of the 1985-90 ABC sitcom "Mr. Belvedere". The second half of a two-part episode originally aired on ABC on July 8, 1990.
After getting married to a woman named Louise, who works in the African jungles with gorillas, Mr. Belvedere (Christopher Hewett) decides to join her and start their new life together.
This new development means that after six years, he would no longer be working as the housekeeper for the Owens family. He says his goodbyes to George (Bob Uecker), Marsha (Ilene Graff), Kevin (Rob Stone), and Heather (Tracy Wells), but he saves his most poignant, touching goodbye for his frequent nemesis/co-conspirator Wesley (Brice Beckham), who is devastated to be losing his best friend. Belvedere promises to cherish the memories that he has with him, both good and bad. He even declares that even tough Wesley is an Owens, he would always be a son to him, prompting Wesley to hug Belvedere with dear life. Louise comes back in to tell Belvedere that they have to leave. He bids the family a final farewell before leaving with Louise. After the car speeds away, the Owens family are looking out the door at the road when Wesley sadly realizes that "he's gone.", referring to Belvedere.
Some time later in the African jungle, Belvedere is writing a postcard to the Owens family , stating that even though he is enjoying his new married life, he deeply misses them. He makes a request for the family to not send him his journal. Belvedere then breaks the fourth wall and looks directly at the viewer, stating that someday, he will return to pick it up himself.

It's a terrible tragedy that today's TV cannot be more like this classic show.

I love how there is no background music. Just silence, with occasional reactions from the live studio audience. Beautiful and perfect ending.

Two weeks later forensic auditors found that he had managed a Ponzi scheme and he had escaped to a country which didn't have an extradition treaty with the United States. It was all very sad.

Except for Christopher Hewitt, the best actor on the show was that young kid Wesley, played by Brice Beckham. He made the show.

@@Mrd9960 I absolutely DID love Chris. And that's what I said. I will state it differently and maybe more clearly. I liked Wesley, played by Brice Beckham, who was my favorite, except for Chris Hewitt ( Mr. Belvedere) who was my ABSOLUTE favorite. I quantified my statement at the beginning that not counting ( or except for Christopher Hewitt ) Chris, Brice was my favorite. Those two characters alone could have carried the show. I watched the show religiously. In fact, Bob Uecker ( who played George ), was and still is the radio announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers. I'm from Milwaukee and Bob's our favorite son. I've met him many times. I was mad when ABC canceled Mr. Belvedere and left many crappy shows on the air.

I was 9 when this first came on television and remember the first episode and watched all of it. Every Friday on ABC. Wholesome television and didn’t get the credit it deserved. I am dripping mess when he told Wesley how he felt about their time together. Rest in Peace, Christopher

Painful that they never returned with another season........Netflix or Amazon should do a favor on us by bringing these shows back, with the same star cast. Please spare us from the current era holy crap

Wesley says "He's gone", and only seconds later, he says "Mr. Belvedere will be right back". I know he meant the show Mr. Belvedere would be right back after the commercial, but it seems funny that he would say those things together, kind of like an oxymoron.

I wondered if the creators of the show ever intended to make a TV movie or something to reunit the cast? I mean, the way it ended with Mr. Belvedere implying that he would return to the Own family one day, it almost seem to indicated that.

I have done a few Fan Fiction stories and one I was thinking of writing sometime is a Mr. Belvedere Fan Fiction where he returns after 5 years to pick up his journal, and finds out how the Owens Family has grown in his absence. Kevin graduated, but never amounted to anything with girls, so he started dating Angela and they eventually got married. Heather decided to give up on the boys and become a nun. Wesley just graduated from high school and started running a legal casino in his basement. He eventually marries Henrietta Huffnegal. George has retired from his job while Marsha is working as a successful lawyer.

Just started rewatching this show, reliving my youth. Introducing this show to my husband, filing him in on the references he doesn't understand because he's 20 years younger. We watched The Escort episode with a giggle or two. I loved Mr. Belvedere. Such a great character and I loved the theme song! This show was far superior to Full House. It had substance.

After watching this, it really pains me inside that this show pretty much had to languish on the bottom most rung, ratings wise, while more saccharine, dumbed down shows on the ABC schedule, such as "Full House" and "Perfect Strangers", pretty much had their ratings handed to them on a silver platter.

Such a shame, television, in particular family television is non-existent these days. Every show is about bad things or teaches you bad things. Nothing good, no values, morals or acts of human kindness. Not like these shows did.
