Performance do baixista (Billy Sheehan) e do baterista (Pat Torpey), ambos da banda de Hard Rock norte-americana, Mr. Big. Musicas de 1989. Billy Sheehan (bass) and Pat Torpey (drums), both North American Hard Rock Band Mr. Big.
Absolute class. What a duo💕 30+ years later and still love watching this pioneering video ( and still can't play the bass to it😭). Mr Sheehan, Rock bass genius, Mr Pat Torpey, sadly missed, God bless.
Top shelf rhythm section. Love how the bass & drums blend seamlessly into one indistinguishable musical instrument. That band was very lucky to have these guys on their team.
Pat Torpey is an amazing drummer we lost way to soon. Billy on bass is amazing. I went to listen to these two tracks off of their 1989's album titled "Mr. Big". The band is awesome as always. One of the sleeper bands of the last 30 yrs. They are in hiatus and don't show a drummer as part of the band, frankly hard to replace Pat. But I do hope they go on tour again with a touring drummer. I love this hidden gem of the rhythm section laying down tracks from start to finish...
Fantastic example of high calibre rock musicians playing parts. Hearing these songs here deconstructed really highlights the art of composing a part on your instrument and then in this example, executing that part to the highest of standards. Everybody knows Billy Sheehan is a force of nature, but Pat Torpey was world class. Like a hard rock version of Jeff Porcaro. All of the classic rock drummers rolled into one, but with a breadth of musical knowlegdge of jazz and latin, effortless musical chops, faultless time and pocket and total musical awareness. What a musician he was. I am blessed to have been able to see Mr Big play live on the Lean into It Tour. One of the greatest live concerts I have ever whitnessed along with the likes of It Bites, The Chick Corea Electric Band, Toto, BB King, Jeff Beck, Airto's Fourth World Band and Joyce Moreno, Bootsie Collins, Buddy Rich Big Band, Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs and Tower of Power. No matter what style of music, excellence is excellence.
I could listen to JUST drums and bass like this all day long, whenever I go to search for drums and bass into youtube nothing but TECHNO drum and bass comes up. You would of thought that nothing but drums and bass GUITAR would come up when you search for that, but no, just techno bass and drums....
Danny your comment was very dicky. Pat was my friend. And a very skilled, accomplished musician. Did you play in any bands with world renown musicians? Pat is playing exactly what the music calls for……that was his genius! It’s not about how many fancy licks you can throw in…..that’s not how you sustain a career as a professional musician! Plus Pat was a very accomplished vocalist! He played all those parts and sang back ground vocals. So your comment was very disrespectful to someone who was a great human being and no longer with us.
This is next level genius!!! These two together are magical!! Thanks for finding this clip!! Almost 40 years after this album was released and it still freaking rocks!!! 🤘🏼🔥
The only thing I can see is that mullet. I remember living through this error and all my friends were getting the mullet I kept telling them don't do it. And now we look at the old band pictures and I'm the only one with long hair and my friends are all with mullets and we talk so much shit about their hair choices still to this day.
Never knew how good Pat was….. the drum solo where he sings Beatles…..Billy is good but kind of a one trick player. Les clay pool is much more innovative
