Love the heater. I've worked in shops with those old Herman Nelson's and they were plenty loud. I think you'll find you don't need to crack the door on your garage to stay safe. With it cold out, you'll get plenty of air transfer in and out. Love what you're doing, brother. Keep going!!!

Kerosene stinks when it burns. I use diesel in my forced air heater and don't get that nasty smell. Those new "quiet" style heaters have more problems because of all the sensors and electronic control boards, so I stay clear of them. Some are actually removing the control boards and just tunning a switch for the fan and ignition so they work properly.

Dave, thanks for the information. Yeah I started using exclusively diesel in this one and I’ve had zero issues with it. I’ve probably ran it over 200 hours now glitch free, knock on wood. The kerosene was way too expensive and I think it smelled more. Anyway, I am liking it a lot, does the job really well and pretty cost effective so far. Just remember, when you heat with these heaters they give off a lot of humidity. Your tools and anything else that is metal and not rust resistant, will rust like crazy. Ask me how I know.

If your in super cold climates with extremely dry air the moisture isn’t an issue. It actually raises the hum it’s to a normal level.

BEWARE the E1 code.

Your absolutely right, the dreaded E1 code, which is a pretty standard "catch all" code in the heating industry. Its frustrating for sure. I've even watched a video where someone completely ripped out all of the wiring and computer boards for this heater, and rigged up toggle switches for the fan, ignition and the fuel, so, yes, E1 can drive you crazy. I've also heard that the warranty for this unit with this company leaves a lot to be desired as well. So far I have been lucky and have not had that experience, but I appreciate you making me and anyone else reading these comments, aware. Have a great day and God Bless, thank you for stopping by!!
