6:54 - It's beyond insane how accurate Jimmy's touch is during this section. He captures Page's right hand attack and sensitivity so identically that you'd think it's TSRTS soundtrack.
Dude, this is the tightest cover of a Led Zeppelin song I've ever heard. Each member has the mannerisms and playing style down to a science. Very impressive 👏
You need to listen to = ZEPUSA, honestly, i am not exaggerating when i say that they sound more like Zeppelin than Zeppelin, especially the singer, in fact its a travesty to call them a tribute band, because if you closed you're eyes & listened to them side by side, i swear that you would not be able to tell them apart, absolutely amazing, give them a chance.
Zepusa is also good but I can feel sound is using digital effect So slightly different from original For me I like close to original sound is more better
Mr Jimmy is sensational, Rain song guitar is radiant. Vocalist picks up some very nice Plantisms. Drummer whilst not having Bonhams power has still captured the essence of the drums as a singular sound element that was JB’s signature.
The accuracy of Mr Jimmy is mindblowing. I hope Gibson USA gift one of those $50K Gibson doublenecks with Jimmy Page's DNA on it to Mr Jimmy. Surely he deserves it for his complete study of Jimmy Page
Authentic, all the way down to the "black label" Paiste cymbals. The most pure and accurate of any Zeppelin cover I've ever heard. It also says a lot about Zeppelin themselves, and how relevant they are, FIFTY years later. In 2070, we won't be hearing any "Cardi B" covers, I'll tell you what.
Well said. I often hear people criticize Jimmy's playing, saying he was sloppy, yet I hear a gritty rock n' roll guitarist who pushed the limits and poured a ton of emotion into his playing. Meanwhile, much of today's music is over-polished, sterile, and lacking soul. I yearn for the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
@cdkilo77 Jim wasn't ever sloppy. Considered " brown". All day. That's what made him great. He didn't have to play every note. It was there. It wasn't sloppy. It was just " implied".
I've seen Mr. Jimmy when he performed with Jason bonham. At a distance you would swear that Page himself was on the stage. I didn't know who Mr. Jimmy was at the time. All of a sudden I noticed that this guy was Japanese. Great stage presence and guitar playing.
As a guitar player who has loved Page's playing for 40 years I gotta say the guitar player is shi.... unbelievable!! The guy has done his homework and then some!
Yes, I remember when this album came out.. I was in junior high... and it was literally the talk of the school. It was everywhere.. in every Camaro, El Camino, Mustang, or Chevy Van. Then the Midnight Movie came out of The Song Remains the Same, it was incredible time. We all thought it would be like this forever and music would just get better and better. When Bonham died, so did music. People tried and bless their hearts for trying, but it's never been the same since Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles quit making music. It was a time and will never repeat again. So glad I was there... so sad this generation will never get to experience such a vibe in the air.
@@markv.5962 That is amazing. I was 8 years old - my friends and I talked all the time about if we had one concert to back in time and see it would be those 3 days at MSG July 27-29 '73.
I remember sneaking out of the house many times to meet my friends at midnight and we would ride our bikes downtown just to see Jimmy play on the big screen.
@@markv.5962 Fascinating. I had a girlfriend years ago that was 13 years older than me, and she was also at that show at MSG. She said the same thing.. it was incredible.
Wonderful! Mr Jimmy has obviously memorized every detail of Page's playing, even the flick of the fingers on the last note. Singer is surprisingly close to Robert. stunning, very good!
Phenomenal performance. As a fellow guitarist, I’m in awe. This was my era and this was my most favorite time of Jimmy Page. I honestly didn’t think this was possible. Thank you for you dedication. It is incredible to experience.
Jimmy Page played the Rain Song differently than the studio version when performing on stage. Mr Jimmy nails it. He also nails the studio version in other videos.
I don't think so. Page also played the song remains the same entirely on the 12 string neck in standard tuning and then played the rain song on the 6 string in Gsus, raised a tone from the studio version to put both in the same key for live version, like Mr Jimmy does here. Personally, I would have thought it would be easier the other way round since playing the srts solo on the 12 string must be awkward. Maybe he couldn't face retuning the 12 string 😊
@DavidRoberts-pw5db Sorry, but you're wrong. The original studio version is tuned way down to DGCGCD, ( I've been performing this tune on acoustic and/or electric guitar AND singing it at the same time for decades now ), I have one of my acoustics tuned to the original studio version right now. For Jimmy Page's live performances using the 6 string on his double-neck electric guitar, he can't tune down that low, because the strings would be like loose rubber bands, so he keeps most of the strings in standard tuning except for the G and B string, which are tuned up. I can tune this live/electric version by ear, but I can't recall the notes to recite here.
@DavidRoberts-pw5db NO.........he plays the Rain Song on electric 6 string guitar with the B and G string tuned UP, while the rest of the strings are in standard tuning. So it's NOT "standard tuning". The only reason he did this when playing this stage version of the tune on his electric double-neck guitar is because if he tried to play it in the original DGCGCD tuning, the strings would be far too loose, like rubber bands with horrible fret buzz. Only an acoustic guitar can handle such a lowered tuning. Trust me, I know.........I've been performing this song BOTH ways ( electric and acoustic versions ) and singing it at the same time for decades now. NOBODY can play AND sing this song at the same time like I can. The VERY few that I've witnessed who attempted it did a horrible job.
When I look at this I feel sorry for kids today who will never be able to appreciate what real music used to be and how it made you feel I’m also envious of anyone who got to see Led Zeppelin live back in the day But all credit to these guys especially Mr Jimmy coz they got it nailed to the floor Absolutely outstanding 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Shut up you old hack. You are so detached. You know nothing about "the kids today". You bitter, ignorant, and inept old heads would know nothing about what "the kids" are up to these days. What you think is the total mass of what our generation has to offer is the absolute surface of what there really is. You don't even try to dig deeper to see what amazing stuff MY generation can and has turned out because you want something to complain about and you all have this fucking weird superiority complex. Bunch of bitter old hacks.
@@Cactusfruitsquisher relax , take a chill pill , your over reacting .....it's not worth blowing a fuse over some comments . Plus, the music from the past is way better than what we're hearing now a days.
Just glorious! I don't think the world outside of Zep fans has ever been fully appreciative of the absolute majesty of this remarkable bands music, meaning Led Zeppelin. This is the most honorable, beautiful cover I have ever heard. Tears...
This is insanely satifying. They'e all top-notch. Mr. Jimmy nails Page's mannerisms effortlessly. That's why the playing is so dead on. He's relaxed and just in the moment. And just to state the obvious: he's playing the most incredibly hard hybrid picking on a 12-string on one song, then switching over to a 6-string in an alternate tuning. Seamlessly. Just like Page.
Defenderla a la beautiful rendition of Led zeppelin !! As a drummer I'm amazed at how good this band is !!! All of them !!! Long live treasure hunt them I wish them :the Best !!!!
I was thinking the same thing ,how this just shows me how genius Jimmy Page was,i understand why later there was so many EVH fans but to me Page will always be my absolute favorite.
Really great job guys. Im sure there are a ton of old die hard Zep fans like me who find it hard to even give this a chance. Im glad i did you guys just do too good of a job for me to deny that.
I saw Song Remains the Same when it first hit the theaters and have watched it probably two thousand times since in fact last week I watched it. And this band just kills it to perfection. My God how lucky we are to have musicians of this caliber to recreate the biggest piece of Rock and Roll history. I am truly in awe. I hope they come around soon I am so Pumped up👍. this would be like the concert event of your lifetime if you never got to see Led Zeppelin this is as close As It Gets. I promise you if you saw this life you would remember it for the rest of your life.
Mr. Jimmy, Your Great! Saw you at the Greek Theater in Los Angles A couple months ago, I brought my Kids so they could experience Led Zeppelins music. It was Phenomenal, Thank You!
When I was young, I played this song over and over until I practically wore it out on my record player. I mind remembers this song very well. This guitarist nails the live version of this song to the TEE!!!!
Mr Jimmy Page likes Mr Jimmy very much. He’s very familiar with him after all Mr Jimmy plays in Jason Bonham JBLZE band. I’ve seen them a few times. Amazing band.
Just keep in mind in 1973 or 74, a kid could spend $8 and get a ticket to go see this live. And now, that same kid just sits in their room and watch his videos.
Wow!!! Absolutely nailed it! I would be interested to see Mr. Jimmy write his own songs in the Led Zeppelin style, people are crying out for this kind of music
I agree they are awesome, but I'd rather pay and be there at this Live concert. As for this video, nothing replaces the actual video of the performance by Led Zeppelin that I can always watch on RU-vid.
Hahahaha! I knew this was going to be a source of contention. This guy can emulate Jimmy to the fucking note. Id love to see him live. Ive seen him with the L.A. cover band on television. They did this man no justice. This guy is so spot on that Jimmy Page congratulated him on his live performance. Zeppelin will never be recreated, but i would definitely go see this guy try.
Wholly shit ! I was listening to Zep on the RU-vid feed and this came on automatically and I had to look twice and then a third time to realize it wasn’t Led Zeppelin. Damn, you guys are amazing
This is one of my top three LZ songs (along with In My Time of Dying and When the Levee Breaks) bc of the dynamic nature. These guys have put in the practice...even JPJ's intro bass runs were spot on.
Ho-ly Crap...I have listened to TSRTS (album and song) for over 45 years and this was the tightest, closet rendition of the original I have ever heard!! Damn...note for freaking note...they KILLED it!!
Crazy how good he is. The fact he resembles Page once he has that wig on (is it still a wig?) is the icing on the cake. Love that video where Page went to see him play and really enjoyed it 🥰 I think this guy is one of the better singers he has had it’s him as well
Probably the hardest player to cover too because of his idiosyncracies. Even a player like Joe Bonamassa has said as much. Mr Jimmy is as near as we'll ever get to a clone.
