Regency romances have been a favorite of mine for forever. I am beyond thrilled that they finally have a huge public audience. I am not familiar with the story but this looks amazing. On my list. Thank you!
Yass! I saw the 'short' version of this on RU-vid. Everyone wanted a full movie version and here it is! Thanks! Why am I speaking in exclamation marks! LOL!!
@@MsCwarrior Chan was in WHICH IT? The current film due out in July of 2022 or the short film released in 2019? My comment was in replay to Leonela kebi's comment about the 2022 film casting Zawe Ashton as Julia Thistlewaite, the role played by "the lady form The Eternals," whom I identified as Gemma Chan, in the short film. Chan is wonderfu, I've liked her since I saw her in Sherlock, l and I would have loved to have seen her reprise her role or in another role in the 2022 film but she isn't in the 2022 film based on current public casting information. She might not have wanted to go "backwards" or just wasn't available due to other projects like possibly "Don't Worry Darling."
Okay, I am beyond excited about this. I love the book and loved the short film and am going to the theatre for the first time in almost 3 years and inviting every girlfriend I have to come with me.
I’m pretty sure I saw a short video of this on RU-vid starring Gemma Chan. So glad there’s a full movie because the the short on RU-vid was only part one and they left story incomplete 😅
The story is so typical of Regency romances I have read that it seems a bit tame. However the actors and sets and costumes all look great so I defintiely will watch when I can. I like colour blind casting too.
Not color-blind, or- as the Director of this and the original short-film adaptation of the book says - "not a color-wash" : " not a white character played by a black man."
@Trailer Coverage, I think that you should strongly consider changing your title of this trailer. The producers chose to make people of colour the leads but Theo is the only one you're giving credit. I thought Mr Malcom was Theo because of how you've presented. Freida and Sopé deserve to be recognised for their great work.
Can't wait to see this! I'm so glad that there's a Black and Indian/interracial relationship! We need more representation like this in movies ♥️ Besides, they make a cute on screen couple 💑
This is not the same guy in the short version, is he? It looks someone else...and I miss the chinese girl that was in the other version too. But thank God, they kept Freida Pinto.
Why the bait? Theo James isn´t even in the trailer. The movie looks great, I sure want to see, but why make people see it putting Theo´s name in the title of the video?
i thought Theo was going to be the love interest and though no not a white love interest but for a brown woman and dark-skinned man as leads is amazing and sad that I need to applaud diversity
Read through comments from happy fans of original project - This is not daring casting - but was *built this way* as a short film years ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5WIcqyHDuIg.html
I recognise both of the houses, Castletown house & Russ Borough hse both in kildare Ireland, that was filmed during the lockdown, Theo James wife is irish handy for them😂
I am saddened that first of all I have not been able to see this movie since it so far has not been on a streaming service. It needed that. Also Theo James is both a very good actor and a good comedic actor but when he left Sanditon as he did it basically killed the story. Now he is in another Regency Period movie and not the lead. I do not get it. What was Jane Austen is now Charlotte Bronte and it lost everything to many of us. How I wish he would explain why he did it. He haunted season2 and he is a far better actor then what exists. Now with this movie since many of us have not seen it to me this is a waste of some good talent and I guess British Actors can just up and leave one for another similar production . Theo seems to do better in Hollywood but I do not think with all the current changes and new contracts that a production company would take lightly just leaving. He tried to complete Jane Austen but since she has been dead 200 years and her stories always had a happy ending. Not a you decide for yourself. I am a very disappointed fan that lost my feelings for one series and cannot seem to see this movie and Time Traveler’s Wife is not. Let us hope White Lotus makes us feel better. Being an older fan but thinking he has talent and believing he could have been the best leading man as Sidney Parker a little funnier and nicer would have been amazing but not to happen. I hope someone tells him since he has no place for support or comments.
Because there aren't nearly enough period dramas with all white casts yes let's be bitter about this one because of Bridgerton. Go away Karen brown people love period dramas too this one out of hundreds is for us.
@@enooeeelelee_ yes like there were no POCs at the time just because period dramas actually failed to be historically accurate! Karens should actually read history before thinking UK was all white 🤦🏽♀️
Hmm. I'm certain I've seen something just like this....modern day...young girl encouraged to troll a handsome high school boy....what sticks in my mind is she convinced him to wear a red silk thong and he turned it into a trend...then she fell in love with him, anyway. ....
@@IzzyKawaiichi but that’s because it was white people back then. Black people were not part of society. They were slaves or servants. If a white person played it hello, I would be like “why is this white guy playing or hello” ? If a woman was playing a mans role it would be odd. If a man was playing a woman’s role it would be odd. Just seems strange 🤷♂️
@@keithss67 Dude. Like I said, it's fiction. It doesn't matter. This isn't a true story to begin with, so who cares if the racial divide is thrown out the window? If racial inequality isn't part of the plot, then why would it matter which races are playing which roles?
I want to see NORDIC white people acting in stories about African culture, are they willing to take that step or is it just double standards and hypocrisy? This is hilarious just to look at, and I'm as brown as it gets.
@@Srav-bb1eu You did notice that Theo James was not in the clip, right? Since they credited him in the title, he either had to be the black man, or the woman. See, it's called sarcasm...
I'm looking forward to the new film starring Tom Cruise as Shaka Zulu! This film is not historically accurate. I have nothing against anyone of color, but if Tom Cruise was to take the role of a Zulu warrior I'm quite sure there would be an uproar from Black Africans and rightly so.
Then don't watch it! No one is going to force you! Go watch one of the dozens of versions of Little Women or Emma or Pride and Prejudice! Shall I make a list for you so that your eyes won't have to look at brown skin? I could because I've seen them all and I'm black and I love them and it's okay that just once or twice I get to see people that look like me in a genre that I love because they will keep making them with all white casts and I will still watch those too. F off!
@@Srav-bb1eu l think you'll find the difference is portraying ethnic people as titled etc. This was simply not the case. It's just crass and frankly, unnecessary.
I just read the book. I don't care how woke a studio wants to be, if the actors don't match the descriptions of the characters no script can save the movie. Especially if some of the scenes in the trailer aren't in the book
so don’t watch, “viking goddess” :) enjoy the literally thousands of regency era films and tv shows with exclusively white actors. no one is forcing you to look at black or desi people onscreen since it clearly disturbs you.
@@mere0 I'll say what disturbs me - related but unrelated to the post - the fact that these kinds of stories aren't highlighted in other cultures. England wasn't the only society with a "society." There were/are various African kingdoms with their own complicated structures. I'm not getting into Asian, particularly Indian, because I am not the spokesperson. People should be wanting stories from cultures outside of Europe instead of just placing "representation" inside Europe and thinking that is enough.
I didn’t see Theo James in this preview at all, meaning not a significant part to play and of course the WOKEness of hollyweird continues to attempt to change history.
