I am wayyyy late to the party but you’re right about that first episode -killing off the guest stars right from the jump was like “oh snap “….great call on that and how Hollywood would have remade it but it does also give them so much wiggle room to bring this show back as a anthology showing you that no Jon or Jane is safe no matter the actor attached
Great review E! You are right about episode 6 it was well written with the campfire argument! It was harsh, it triggering, it was real. I hated it. Ima watch it again!🤣
Came back after budge watching the series. I’m Already going back ti watching the 1st episode. I’m hoping my husband wants to watch so I can rewatch. 😂. There was a certain honesty in this series. The characters were relatable and I loved John’s mom. She looked like a real mom😂. Definitely a binge worthy show
I really enjoyed the show. I hoped they lived to continue the show. We got attached to their realistic relationship issues and that's what I liked about they show. It was more about their relationship than their job...
There has to be more seasons following these two. Not an anthropology series. I think there's so much more to explore with these two characters. As well as the fact that with a series they can go deeper than they ever could with a movie. Also I think maybe you should watch it thru again. There's some cues that you maybe missed that would stand out more, that would maybe make you're episode to episode ratings go up. Realizing that after episode 2 each episode has a time lapse between them. As well as the fact that the titles of some matter more to the episode's story than you noticed. Episode 5, "Do you want kids" for instance making their target the child figure.
It is great! I have seen all eight episodes and I have seen the original. I liked them both, l connected more with this series vs the movie, and want a second season.
I LOVED the trailers...I LOVED the episodes. I didn't like that they were fighting but it was realistic. I thought the series was very well written and extremely well acted. I did know Donald Glover or Maya Erskine before this series, but I know them now!!! I am a huge fan of them both now!!! They both did a fantastic job of acting throughout the series. I LOVED the chemistry between Donald and Maya. I hope there is a second season!!!!
This show was SOOOO good, that I kinda don’t want a Season 2. It was a perfect time capsule…it said so much about modern marriage, work/life balance, and falling in and out of love with a partner. I think we’d lose something if it came back. Don’t mess it up guys. Go out on a high note.
#michaelandalana I plan to binge the episodes this weekend and I’m super excited given your rating. I’ve missed seeing Donald on my small screen in something new! I’ll be back with my thoughts 😊
I just ... i think making the whole entire motivation for these characters to be in this life a mystery for the entire show until the last episode is a mistake. I could not relate to the characters. Their twisted romance was fun for like an episode / and then it got old until they were shooting at each other The only reason was invested at all was because I wanted to know who their mysterious employer was ... and they didn't really even reveal that either. They just sort of tease you and leave you with blue balls. And yet, I would watch a second season to know the answer
i liked this show a lot, i loved how Donald Glover was able to insert his awkward surreal comedy in to the spy/action genre, i didn't like the writing in episode 6 (hated that episode) but ultimately understand its about the evolution/phases of relationships. i still think they should have cast another actor to play jane, Maya Erskine didn't work for me.
Show was amazing. Didn’t think I would like it. But man does Donald glover know how to make a show. Only part really bothered me was the agent coming to kill John gets sloppy and leaves the toilet seat up, like cmon. These are highly intelligent classified agents. They’re not gonna make a mistake that small lol. But other than that. The series was amazing and cinematography was on another level as well
@@ememobongnkana I can see your point. I just found it sloppy on a couple “high risk spy’s” doing something so minor. They would leave everything as they left it. And that being the toilet seat down. Was just wild to me. But nevertheless still a great show lol
Glover is too soft. Too much PC used especially in that fight scene from the John character. If anything was true and believable is that Jane is very cold and a sociopath. If this series goes forward John needs to harden more than his 🍆.
I feel they're slowly developing that, as they already showed signs of his hard shell developing in episode 5 when Jane tells him that she's used to him being nicer after he was behaving the way he was at the cottage/kidnapping. If the seasons continue, you might see more of it
I'd have to agree with the action being the weakest part, it pulled me out at times. An example being when Jane had her back to John in their fight, he oddly went for a flying knee, and when he missed, he threw a spinning elbow aimed high when she's clearly shorter than him lmao. So action felt like more of an after-thought, but as you said this was more about their romance and the comedy that follows along and that definitely hit deep.
Here's a book you'll never read, @ssho1e! 😂😂 Remember John loves Jane. He's wasn't actually trying to hurt her. For example, he could have shot her at the stairs but deliberately missed. When he KO's her with the potted plant, he could have finished her off but instead chose to tie her up and inject her with the truth serum instead. So it could be argued that he threw the flying knee and spinning elbow knowing that it wouldn't catch her.
Slow burn with a so so ending. Too many bullets with way too many misses except for the one that hit John. The Smiths vs The Smiths wasn’t worth it. The talking and laughing wasn’t needed, just come in shooting and let that play out and then end it. Mike and Fiona and their child ended with them in the mountains after finally getting away from the CIA.
No way Jane 1 survives. She had one bullet and three shots were fired. And Jane 2 is Super High Risk, so she kills Mr & Mrs Smith for a living. She she'll kill Jane 1 based on experience.
Bruh I didn't even catch Ron Pearlman was playing a kid.....pissing himself and throwing up and touching stuff he wasn't supposed to......damn....I was just laughing thinking it was a goofy Ron Pearlman cameo. 🤣
I'd like to think they're up in the mountains with their kids and Grandma Denise. An anthology series would be great! New people, new home, new missions and new cameos xxx
Great review! I have to admit when I saw the trailer for this show I didn't think I would like it. I love Donald Glover but I didn't think that Maya Erkson (the Jane actress I don't think I spelled her name correctly) would work. Boy was I wrong. I really enjoyed the series. I think the fact that I did not like the Jane character is a testitment to the actress who played her. She was so annoying and cold at times but that was the brilliance of it. The fact that their relationship didn't work actually Worked! It was not supposed to be a match made in heaven but a match made in Hell. Excellent guest stars too! Sarah Paulson and episode 6 perfection I agree with you! I too wish there was even more action because the action it had was pretty good. I am not sure if it should have a season 2 I think it would be poetic to end right there with all the Smiths dead. It was kind of perfect. I am so proud of Donald Glover, I wanted 20 seasons of Atlanta but I know actors need to move on and do other things. He was great! Funny , and serious! Happy Black History Month! Donald Glover is Black Excellence at it's Finest!
Watch Mr & Mrs Smith out of order. The plot is too simple for linear. Try this sequence: > **Episode 6**: tone and conflict. > **Episodes 1-3**: backstory and contrast. > **Episode 7**: climax and choice. > **Episodes 4 and 8**: resolution and epilogue. > Skip **Episode 5**: boring and irrelevant. Did you like it? Any feedback?
I think the question of whether there will be a season 2 will depend on how much money they can get to do it. The reviews are so mixed it's hard to tell
