Here's a demonstration of Mr. Hobby's, Mr. Paint Remover, a fantastic product! I forgot to mention the reason I bought this for my brother in the first place. He wanted something that could remove paint from resin miniatures he had bought, without damaging the resin. This product did not damage the resin at all, and he was able to repaint the miniature.

Ten years ago, this product smelled pretty horrible This new formula is pretty nice. If you feel like wasting a bit in order to produce faster results, you can soak parts in it to strip paint without it attacking the plastic. For airbrushes, I would recommend sticking to Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner or Mr. Tool Cleaner since those are designed to go easy on your O rings.

Its have a very strong odor, and the stripped model will have it as well. Do you have any method how to remove the smell from the model?

A much cheaper alternative is brake fluid. Takes any paint off and doesn't attack plastic. Give it a shot 👍
@stephennoble2647
@stephennoble2647 3 года назад
Brake fluid works, but it can make the plastic brittle on certain kits I've used it on. It can also make the colour bleed out of coloured plastic in my experience..

Does it break Toys after removing the unwanted paint? Tamiya Paint remover and some Modeling Lacquer Thinners causes Plastic toys to melt, break and cuases crack effect hairline that's what happens.
@rebelsatcloudnine
@rebelsatcloudnine 2 года назад
I've never had it damage the plastic, but others milage may vary. I've used it on clear styrene which is pretty fragile and it had no effect on the paint whatsoever. I'm hoping that people aren't using Lacquer Thinners, that isn't a paint remover for plastic.

FYI Tamiya lacquer thinner will do just the same in a much bigger bottle. Not caustic to the plastic at all. I've stripped a 1/72 Spitfire with it

I found the Mr. Paint Remover so powerful it lightened the underlying gray of the body's plastic. I used Easy-Off on the other side, and it removed only the black factory lettering.

Just saw this vid after I messed up my DFS 230 glider today. I'll probably need some time to get over the disappointment first, but then I'm gonna see if I can pick up a bottle of this stuff at the LHS. Thanks for this review!

It should work, I tried removing some paint that had pried on a 20 year old model, and a lot of it did come off, but because of the age a lot had baked into the plastic and was really hard to remove.

What are you people nuts? Lacquer paints, unlike enamel and acrylic, will always MELT when met with thinner. All you need to do to remove dried lacquer paint is to use the same thinner you dilute the paint with!! No need to spend money on expensive stuff!!
