I received a gorgeous bible cover from Mr Pen and there was a nick/cut in the book mark and refunded no question. Absolutely recommend them on the customer service alone because good customer service really seems to be a rare occurrence in this world of Amazon shopping.
Great review! If you are just using these for highlighting scripture, swipe once and they will not have that sticky. Also, he has a pastel set, and a different set that is a pack of 8 that has BIBLE written on the pen. The pack of 8 are different then these with the white tip ends. They leave NO sticky residue no matter how many times you go over it. With heavy layers, it may stick to the page next to it. It has taken me awhile to figure how much pressure to use, etc. I really like them!
I do like the highlighters. But I find a lot of ghosting in most pens. I have their regular pens and I don't get bleed through but I have also just written with them.
Thanks for sharing this. I got a set of these and tested them in my new One Step Closer Bible. I just tried the black for notes on both sides of the same page in the margins and with some underlining. I only had shadowing with them but could easily read both sides of the notes (regular writing only, not heavy-handed).
I enjoyed the video. The highlighters I think I would use but the pens would go through a regular bible page so I do not think I would purchase the pens.
Seems like the pens are pretty much the same as any gel pen. They didn't go all the way through to the page underneath, so I'd call that a kind of a win. You get ghosting with ANY pen - gel pens, ball points, markers, fountain pens... I've tried everything. You can still see it all on the back of the page. The trick is getting something that doesn't go through on to the NEXT page.
I have used Mr. Pen Bible gel highlighters for over a year now. No bleed through, you can sharpen them and they do not dry out if you leave the cap off. Trying the pastel colors I just received.
Can you color with these like as in markers or crayons? I mean can you color the big pictures or what products would you use for coloring bigger pictures in the Bible? I have the giant print inspire prayer Bible.
I don't have a bible journal I have a traditional bible with very thin pages. I am just looking for something to underline scripture and add a stray note here or there in the margins. Do you think the pens would be good for that without bleeding? Bleeding would be a bigger issue as I don't want to have trouble reading the scripture on the other side. (my bible is leather-bound and on the pricey side and I want to use it for many years) I went to catalina island with Intervarsity and we did a manuscript study (it was on regular printer paper however) and someone let me use their gel pens (the glittery ones) and I loved those and I wish I could find something fine and non bleeding but sparkly but I doubt that is in the cards Thanks for your review.
I've never been a fan of the residue that the Gel highlighters leave...I have become a big fan of using mildliners in my bible, they don't bleed and once dry they don't smear either, if I didn't have my mildliners I'd be using my Zebra bible highlighters
What is your take on the differences between those highlighters and the Gelatto highlighter colors? Are the Mr. Pen ones waxy? Did you try using gesso on the page first? I'd like to know a little more about them. Also, do sharpies work on top of them?
The gelatos are a whole different product. I do recommend them :) Mr. Pens are a little waxy/sticky, but if you use it just for highlighting, it will not feel so awkward. I don't use gesso unless i have to. I didn't try sharpies. Great questions!
