I realize this is very late, but if it helps anyone who may come here looking for recommendations, the gel highlighters WILL bleed through the page eventually - especially the pink/red ones. They didn't at first, but when I went back into my Bible a few months after highlighting with the gel highlighters, it had completely bled through and it was just as dark on the backside as it was on the front. I use Mildliners or the Uni Propus highlighters. They tend to bleed the least, but they're both super wet and take a few seconds to dry.

The pink is really bad about bleeding through after a while 😪

My favorite highlighters are the Frixion erasable highlighters. They come in several different colors, do not leak through even thin Bible pages, and are completely erasable in case you change your mind about what you want to highlight. 🙂

When I highlight, I use a good quality artist's quality colored pencil. I use the Faber-Castell Poly chromos pencils and get a lot of pigment but without a lot of wax which might make it smear. And, it never ghosts, let alone bleeds through.

I used to underline, but I've found that when I'm using my Bible to show something to someone, that a highlighter is better than underlining. So, for the Bible I carry into the prison, I highlight. and I also found the yellow Zebright is the best.

Good video. I settled on the same highlighter that you did . Here is something really funny . I saw your video and noticed that your Zebra had two ends and I thought I should get that type. Then I looked at mine and noticed the fine tip lol 😂 I won’t say how long I had mine. Blessings

I recommend the Sharpie Clear View highlighters. I’ve been using them for right at a month now, and they have been great. I used to use the Mr Pen highlighters. Though you cannot use a pen over them. I liked them at first, but with them messing up my pigma microns, wrinkling the pages, some colors with some highlights bleeding through (eventually), and also highlights on the other side of the page being effected by the one on the other side. They were pretty good, but I would highly recommend the Sharpie clear view highlighters over a dry gel highlighter. They can bleed a little, but the trick is, when you stop highlighting the line, the little dot at the end just swipe back into the highlight so it doesn’t smear, nor bleed. They have worked real good 😃. The Sharpie Art Pens, and of course, Pigma Micron Pens, are fantastic for small notes, or underlines.

I had good success with ACCU-Gel Bible Hi-Gliders. I also found that after hi-lighting, wiping the highlight and rubbing it slightly into the paper with your finger evens out the highlight and dries it so it doesn't cause a mark on the other page. Similar to glue sticks, sometimes chunks of the gel highlighter crumble on to the page and need to be wiped off. Not being too heavy handed is something I would recommend when using the gel highlighters too. Overtime the Accu-gel highlights really blend nicely into the paper. Thanks for you edifying videos!

Thanks for the incredibly useful video - AND comments. Based on both, I was wavering between the Zebrights and Mr. Pen. Mr. Pen had less bleed-though, but the Zebrights were less tacky. It seems that, after a bit of drying time, the tackiness goes away, so I just placed an order for Mr. Pens in Yellow, Orange and Green for my new bible. This is one of the most helpful videos I have come across. Thanks again!!!

I loved your video. I'm a new subscriber and so excited to find your channel! My bible looks like a rainbow 🌈 of colors and side notes 📝 haha. I can remember back when I was a little girl (a few years ago) haha our parents NEVER ALLOWED US TO WRITE IN OUR BIBLE. It was like the 11th commandment lol. And all my friends parents were the same way. For me highlighting and notes is how I learned the bible. Have a blessed day sir 🙏

I am using the Zebrite on the recommendation of a MNTG Student and also Frixion pens which I like ALOT. Your video provides a lot of very good information and I think having the Mr. Pen's would also be a good solution in some cases. Thanks for another excellent review.

THank you for this video. I was looking for an erasable highlighter... maybe a supplemental video you could do. There aren't many on Amazon. I was gonna buy PILOT FriXion Erasable Highlighters which are advertised as non-bleed thru but in the demo video look very watery... and also a gel set from DiverseBee Bible Highlighters (really liked the colors - Earthy) but the reviews said they were like a soft crayon. Did you come across those?

Have to admit I used a "bible" highlighter and it bled through the page and was so mad at myself for doing that. Wish I had seen your video before I did that. I ended up buying a different bible just to write in the margins and has thicker paper so I can really mark it up without it bleeding through.

I wonder what would happen to those gels if you left your bible in a hot car. Yep no Gels for me. In fact I don't think I will be highlighting in my new $200 bible at all. Micron .03 notes perhaps. Those Zebrites look the best for highlighting or Frixion color pens maybe. Again those could disappear in a hot car. The gels may melt and stick your pages into a mess in hot climates.

Awesome test. I'm testing some highlighters that we have available in my country for one of my Bibles. Brother, can you share resources on learning greek and hebrew? Recently I found a tyndale theological seminary. They have open campus which is free and also certificate programs that can be taken for biblical languages. Ofc they have masters and phds, but they might be good for learning languages only if needed. Do you have any thoughts on that university?

@@mirjanabosnjak8064 well I don’t know much about Tyndale Theological Seminary. If it’s totally free, it might be worth trying. The best book for learning Greek on your own right now, in my opinion is this one amzn.to/3njidca. If you want support learning Greek from a teacher and a community the very best program is this one: www.google.com/amp/s/masterntgreek.com/%3famp At a minimum, I would recommend getting the book I linked to above. It’s about $35 but it basically has everything you need to learn Greek including links to free videos. My Hebrew isn’t good enough to make any real good recommendations there.

I may be old-fashioned, but never ever would it come to my mind to mishandle a decent book with a highlighter, let alone a precious Bible, the Word of God. For me it's utter barbarism. A small vertical line in the margin, and only with a pencil, that's all that should be permitted. There are so many other and more decent ways to take notes, to underline, to memorize passages than using a highlighter. My two cents.
@BiblicalStudiesandReviews
@BiblicalStudiesandReviews 3 года назад
Thanks Paul! I can understand that. I haven’t brought myself to use a highlighter in my new Mahogany Calfskin bible yet. I think the paper quality will make some difference as to whether someone might feel comfortable using one. My Cambridge Concord wide margin is only highlighted with color pencils. So I can totally understand your reservations.
@bornknightmare2998
@bornknightmare2998 2 года назад
Paul I think it would be wise to understand that people learn differently and what may be good for you may not work for others. The book itself has no value if the person using it isn't getting anything from it. If using a highlighter allows God's word to be learned and understood better than what malice is in that? Please try not to be so quick to judge others and how they learn the message of God. At the end of the day we both know that God knows what is in a man or woman's heart and he can tell if someone is drawing in His book for malice or to better understand and learn His word. Please be cautious to not display the righteousness and pride that the pharisses displayed which prevented them from seeing the truth. We are all naked and fall short

@@bornknightmare2998 good afternoon. I was reading through some comments and before I read this I had stated that when I was a little girl it was like taboo to write in our bible. My friends parents were the same exact way. I said it was like the 11th commandment in our house haha. Today I'm 52 and my parents are 79. We all attend church together and we all use highlighters and pens in our bibles. But I remember the very first time I wrote in it. I almost felt guilty ! I think it was just the times we were living in. I can tell you one thing though. Once I started highlighting and making little notes was when I felt like I was really learning and understanding His word 💖 have a blessed day
