Do the sides flap and touch you in high wind? This is a problem at the beach in stormy weather on fishing trips

I was nearly sold on buying this swag until I looked a little closer at the details, this is directly from the website information : - The Stockman Brown canvas is an imported 12-ounce smooth-blend polycotton canvas. - Mr Swagman’s Desert Sand range of swags are made in Australia. The Stockman Brown range of swags are not. This swag is only available in the Stockman Brown imported Canvas, made Overseas - not Australian made. Checked and verified by Mark "Mr Swagman"

Yes, they replaced this Australian made model that I have with a new model this year that has imported canvas. It is now 900mm wide whereas mine in 1000mm wide. It also no longer has the pockets on the end wall and I think it doesn’t have a zip on the foot end wall anymore. It has flaps covering both ends and comes with a bag now.

Bit dissapointing. Just another imported swag now. Would be nice to see in person but not available anywhere.

Gday mate. Great vid. Any chance of an update on the swag please? How it's held up and show a bit more on the windows and inside? Cheers

Great review. Iv been eyeing this swag of for a while. Been looking at dome style swags for a while and love the design of this one. Especially the spreader bar at top. My current swag is like the one you talked about at the start with one hoop in the middle inside the swag. Prefer something a bit bigger and would be good to be able to get dressed in there as well. 👍

Thanks Michael, It really is an awesome swag. As you can see in the video I'm a fair lump of a bloke and I find it great size wise. And yeh, I can get dressed in there as well.

Really helped thanks, have you tried using it on a stretcher?

MrProctitus cheers mate. No I haven’t tried it in a stretcher. It’s a big swag so will need a big stretcher. The Kings stretcher comes to mind, not sure there are any others big enough.

Be interested in your thoughts on their new updated version on their website. Spreader pole looks different, 12oz brown canvas - 900 wide

DieRunning1 hey mate, I only know what I have seen on the website and FB page, haven’t seen one in person. Observations - positives - I like the new colour, now comes with a bag, now has ‘hoods’ covering the zips at each end, the design is essentially the same as the old one. Negatives - it’s now 900mm wide down from 1000mm. This is the biggest negative for me, I’m a big bloke and I really like the 1000mm width. It’s good for keeping clothes and boots down the side. The pockets are not on the end wall any more, but on the side. They look like they would get in the way and not easily accessible. The centre pole looks a lot thinner. Other observations - now Chinese canvas and most likely Chinese made. I’m certain the old one was made by Burke and Wills. I think B&W may now also be Chinese made as well. I haven’t noted that as a negative as nearly all other swags are Chinese made now and some have a great reputation but on the face of it I’m a little disappointed that it is no longer Aussie made as it was fairly unique in the swag market. It looks like the foot end doesn’t have a zip - it’s partially fixed open. This might be a cost cutting exercise. I usually leave both ends open a little so it wouldn’t really bother me, but I’d like the flexibility of having a zip. The price point is now at the high end of Chinese swags. I was happy to pay extra for it being Australian made. Overall the design is still the same and is still unique, I just hope for their sake they haven’t priced themselves out of the market.

@@TasmanianOffroadAdventures thanks for the reply, yep I was thinking the same as your points, the centre pole and plastic hook ends instead of spigots look like a weaker design, I was keen to grab one from your video but might wait to see if there are any videos or reviews for the new version before buying. Not being Aussie made, or Aussie Canvas definitely removes a big pro for the price point.

Good review on what looks like a good swag. Shame there has been so many changes to this product. No longer Aussie made for one.

To be fair I can’t directly comment on the new version as I haven’t seen it in the flesh. Based on the specs though, I agree. A lot of people that see mine are taken with the design and obvious quality. I can only guess that the new version was a cost cutting measure.

Good video mate, awesome swag about to buy one and this just sold me. Where abouts did you get the ground sheet from?
@TasmanianOffroadAdventures
@TasmanianOffroadAdventures 6 лет назад
Hey mate, thanks! It's an awesome bit of kit, you won't be disappointed. Ground sheet in Oztrail Ultramesh 2.4x2.4. Funnily enough I have another product review on that to upload soon!

Hi mate thanks for the review? Can you peg it down when windy? Also how long did it take to be delivered once ordered?
@TasmanianOffroadAdventures
@TasmanianOffroadAdventures 6 лет назад
Hey mate. Yes, it can be pegged down, it has eyelets on each corner still. I can't actually remember how long it took to get delivered, it was a couple of years ago. If I don't remember it must not have been too long!
