OG lyricist here. I'm not Don McLean, so I'll explain my motivations for the first verse. By the way, I did write a second verse that I was not 100% happy with, but it does contain this gem, censored for RU-vid: "I was a lonely middle-age incel cvck / With an oshi mark for a ch1nk canuck / But I knew I was out of luck / The day that Niji died". The interpretation of these characters is hopefully obvious. Selen's termination on February 5, although many of us feared and anticipated that it would happen, still came as a shock to the broader EN community. I don't actually watch ENs anymore, but I keep up with general news by browsing. When seeing some musical parody lyrics, I immediately thought back to "The Day the Music Died", which was February 3, 1959. Rock and roll icons Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper all died tragically in a chartered plane on tour. "American Pie" is partly Don McLean's tribute to Holly, and serves as a "loss of innocence" tale for the rock and roll generation, and America as a whole coming out of the 50s and through the tumult of the 60s. With this context in mind, I wrote the first verses in a parallel to this, identifying Selen with Holly. I imagine the singer to be a credible, male unityf4g who had a halcyon period of naivete forcibly taken "the day that Niji died", namely the whole string of 2023-2024 issues culminating in Selen's termination. (By the by, you could say that the China affair was a greater loss of innocence for the community, but I identify that incredible level of all-out-war more with the tumult of the 40s which predates McLean and the halcyon period.) The first part has to do with McLean's identity as a fan of rock and roll, and aspirations to be a musician himself. The second has to do with the whammy of bad news which he was delivering to every doorstep as a paperboy. This had to be adapted for modern times to Twitter. The fact that the common mispronunciation of NIJISANJI's "livers" (as in, "going live") as "livers" (as in, the organ) was a nice touch. "his widowed bride" -> "her near suicide" was an easy substitution. Finally, in the last part of the intro I wanted to preserve the rhyme scheme which has a rhythmic melancholy jolly to it. I made the decision to replace "Miss America" with Riku, serving as the metaphorical face of the thing whose innocence has died. So, Riku became Mister Tazumi-san and then the rest of the rhyme scheme started to fill in. In order to rhyme "Bye, bye" and preserve the idea of a repeated movement towards a worse state, I used "dan-dan" to evoke a sense of gradual change, but also referencing Mumei's song which was memed to be related to several historical tragedies. The next line used to be "Opened /vt/ on Safari, but my IP was banned". The original line, "Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry" evoked the death of the American dream, where owning a Chevy as a young man was a sign of freedom, and the levee was where youths would congregate and participate in drag races and illicit behavior. /vt/ was a natural replacement for this location, and Safari was a dig at phoneposting. Mobile data is often IP range-banned, so it all sort of fit together. I debated between "Safari" and "my iPhone", but kept Safari in the first version due to the rhyme scheme. In later versions I replaced it with "my iPhone" since I thought it kept to the spirit better. The rest naturally filled in. Instead of gold ol' boys, we have rrats, and instead of drinking they are going schizo and spamming, replacing the shared cultural values of America with /vt/. Instead of singing, they're posting. Instead of deaths, we have terminations, or "canning". Unfortunately, adapting the rest of an 8 minute song with the narrative of "loss of innocence" in a particular role was tricky, also because I don't have the benefit of 10 years' hindsight. So, I never really got around to creating more than 2 verses. You can find the other one in the archives, but I wasn't 100% happy with it. Also, believe it or not, I am a productive member of society and only shitpost and watch streamers on the side. So, I never got around to it. Thanks for building it beyond what I did.
Yagoo got the monkeypaw treatment too but instead of anything physical, it is at the cost of his dream repeatedly getting shattered and Yagoo accepted it at that point
My man's trying to become a meme for a long time. Little did he know that the saying of "be careful for what you wished for" exists for a reason. Literal monkey's paw deal.
this singing is incredible, lyrics great, but honestly my favourite part was the subplot of ayame being banned and stealing phones to try and evade it.
Kurosanji : **burning and keep pouring gasoline* Hololive : *"JDON my soul 🙏"* We need more of these masterpieces. Don't worry it's all *"negligible"* for us anyway 🤣🤣
I feel like with the tweets regarding WeebCon revealed by FalseEyeD, his verse with can be updated lol. "So come on, False be nimble, False be quick Please remove that tweet or you'll annoy those pricks Cause, blackmail is Niji's only friend"
I'm still extremely partial to I Want It Rrat Way, but this is definitely up there in terms of my favorite songs from you. This channel is easily more entertaining than vtubing clip channels! Hope to see more!
You will receive all the fame but you will only get 2 % of it and the rest goes to management The joke aside, i should be laughing how beautiful shitpost is but it breaks my heart how shitty what happened
I kinda expected Paint it black by the Rolling Stones for this entire fiasco, but I got something much better. Weird Al's parody is still my favourite but this is also *chefs kiss*
The tier name "Shadow Manager" with Elira Pendora associated with it makes me think of a certain company, if u can even call it that, from some certain FPS game taking place in modern times. I wonder what that could be. Totally not from a franchise or something... Y'know what, Imma say it. Shadow Company, from COD: MW2, original, remastered, or the reboot. If that were the case, then it makes me think that Elira Pendora is another General Shepherd, since both of them did betrayal, one of them being part of the lore b4 doing it in real life.
It make sense now why nobody makes wholesome meme of Kurosanji CEO unlike Hololive where every talent had meme for Yagoo. 😂 That Elira's lore update is so hilarious.
