Welcome to a comprehensive guide for international medical graduates considering a postgraduate medical career in the UK. In this video, Dr. Suman, an Indian doctor and a respoiratory trainee in the UK, discusses the rapidly changing UK medical landscape, the scarcity of junior doctor jobs, and the increasing competition for training positions.
He shares his insights on the PLAB and MRCP exams, and advises on which might be the best route for you in the current climate. The video also explores whether the UK is still a viable destination for postgraduate medical training amidst a cost of living crisis and high inflation.
Dr. Suman also shares his observations on the changing job opportunities for international medical graduates in the UK, and discusses the challenges and opportunities in getting non-training doctor jobs as SHO or junior clinical fellow.
The video offers a balanced view, discussing both the scarcity of junior doctor posts after PLAB and the increasing opportunities, including CESR, for experienced doctors.
If you're a fresh MBBS graduate, an experienced doctor, or someone considering the UK as a destination for your medical career, this video will provide valuable insights to help you plan your career moves better.
For personalized guidance, check out MedSolution UK, where Dr. Suman and his friend Dr. Vibhore, an Emergency Medicine Consultant in the UK, offer 1:1 counseling support for Indian doctors considering a move to the UK.

Hi dr suman....iam from Pakistan.....is it advisable for a fresh mbbs dr to clear both parts of mrcs without doing the pg training in home country and coming to uk to do all the surgical training in uk via cesr/ portfolio pathway? Like as in to do the entire training in uk with this route?
@SumanPaulDoc

I don't think it will be possible unless they have training and experience from back home. You won't even get a registrar job in surgery without that.

Your medical degree will come from only one university. You should be eligible for PLAB if that university is recognised

@@SumanPaulDoc Hello Doctor How tough is the MRCP exams, especially PACES? If a person working as a medical officer in medicine practice well and attend 4-5 days of coaching classes available in India, would it be reasonably possible to clear PACES in the first attempt? Please share your personal experience of how you prepared and passed PACES.

Hi sir. Iam MD Medicine in India. What is the significance of just passing MRCP exam (all 3 steps) after doing MD Medicine in India?? I don't want to come to UK, just want to pass MRCP. Is just passing MRCP exam (all 3 steps) sufficient for getting a MRCP label?
@SumanPaulDoc
@SumanPaulDoc 3 месяца назад
There is no added advantage in having MRCP if you hold MD for practice in India. Perhaps the perception of foreign qualification to enhance private practice. You will get MRCP (UK) if you pass all the 3 exams.
