Oh wow now I get it. She kept calling as inferior applicants to lower her standards making the "kill" call sound much much better. What a great marketing tactic..
Wow that is actually really smart! He deliberately called with awful personas so when he called his last one they would be so above her DEVASTATED bar that she would pick Mrs. Doubtfire immediately. *GENIUS*
@@PHATB0Y20 Wasn't a nationwide thing back then. Caller ID didn't really exist across the country until around 1995. You can look up old news articles to back this up and even then people rarely used it.
@@cathydiane2558 eh, I look at it as a he saw what he did as a "the end justifies the means". It was good intentions, just highly questionable execution of said intentions. I think it's a moral/ethical grey area in a best case scenario.
@@KhaelisRa88 all he had to do was not be an irresponsible idiot His ex wife even said that him. She just wanted him to straighten up and be responsible because he had such a long pattern of not supervising his children He heard that and thought “instead of being a father, I’ll lie to my children, screw with their heads, and randomly scream at them during our time together”
Because after planning the entire con, with multiple personas for bad applicants, he just couldn't be bothered to come up with a name before calling. That part really bugs me
"Hello." "Hello, I'm calling about the ad I read in the paper." "Yes, can you tell me a bit about yourself?" "Oh, certainly dear. For the past 15 years I've worked for the Smythe family of Elbourne, England. That's Smythe, not Smith, dear. And for them, I did housecleaning, cooking and looked after their 4 glorious children. I grew attached to them, but they grew up like children often do. Oh, but listen, I'm going on when you should be telling me about your children."
When you really think about it, its sad that he even felt he had to resort to this tactic. Miranda was deliberately interfering with Daniel’s custody time repeatedly & didn’t seem to care at all. Making them late repeatedly & showing up early demanding they leave now, all without notice or a valid reason, is not okay & if he had a good lawyer this would be shut down
He just couldn’t resist taking a risk or two in life and acting the ultimate role all in one. But he comes good by the end. The final few scenes are so incredibly moving and the films score is classic 90s music for the silver screen.
Even when I watched it at the time as a child, I found the whole premise disturbing. I was seeing it from the point of view of the kids and was upset that they were being kept apart from one of their parents just because of something going on between the parents. That seemed really awful to me as a child.
Apparently that was quite correct, according to several people who worked on set with him, Robin would do his thing between takes to help the crew keep their energy up.
I get it was for a funny bit that he would get the name from a conveniently placed newspaper but he had a whole script for the details and didn’t put a name lol. Also if you love movie references, they copied this cheaply in a movie that would be released years later Rango where the main character looked at Durango and shortened it
She was horrified by those lousy applicants and is skeptical about them. Miranda was unaware that Daniel was screwing around with her with those fake applicants until he went for the kill with his Mrs. Doubtfire alter-ego.
i was in eighth grade when he passed. the day the news came out, it felt like the world had lost its shine. everyone i knew was incredibly heartbroken. really goes to show just how much of a presence he had in all our lives. so many people grew up watching him.
Honestly, I never expected to love this movie so much as an adult. This came out in 1993 when I was 11 years old, so I enjoyed it on a children's level. Now with 39 and being a dad this hits different. Love this movie and Robin Williams.
I watched this a few months ago and I had the same thought. If this were set today, this movie wouldn't go further than this scene. Though, even in 1993, you'd think she would get the phone bill and be like "Why did Daniel call me 5 times that day without leaving a message? "
Nah, it wasn't too common in the early 90s for caller ID. If they were to ever do a remake of this movie, they wouldn't be able to do it in the current time, or they'd have Daniel have a bunch of burner cells
I always hear people say “oh they have my sense of humor” and I never understood how there can be different types of humor... until now. My sense of humor is definitely robin williams. Rip legend. Gone but never forgotten.
When I was in the hospital in 2014 I was having a mri done on my brain to find out where my Seizures where and all I watched was this mans amazing stand up Comedy on my phone
@@paisleymather8117 you should see the comments on Rugrats videos, heck a bunch of Nickelodeon related stuff. There should be an option for reporting spam for being completely moronic.
My favourite part of this clip is just the brother being over the moon after the "I need you to make me a woman." No judgment, no questions, just I'm so happy and I'm overjoyed to be the one you chose to come too. It's so pure.
seeing this in theatres was one of the greatest experiences of my childhood. Movies like this, you just don't forget. They stay with you forever. And when I have kids, they will be watching this as well. All of us, together as a family.
@@yannickdrmda5295 it kinda can. The ex-wife hating her former husband for being trans and gets pissed when he/she tricks her of taking care of their children. You heard her bigotry on the other interviews. (This comment is meant to be taken as a joke)
Mr. Williams was such a outstanding actor, I can't think of anyone other than him as Mrs. Doubtfire. The accents, his whole body language changing from character to character..... Amazing, just gorgeous......
I know a lot of people don't like Miranda, but after watching the movie now as an adult, I can kind of relate to her and see things from her point of view. Doesn't justify some of the things she does, but she's a little more relatable
I always wondered how she could never tell it was her ex since he’s a voice actor he did the voices well but you can still hear robins voice under all of them
I don't think she ever paid attention to him. Or even cared he was a comedian. I think she kept him all those years because he had kids with her and wanted to stay as a father. Once she found pierce Brosnan was interested in her, lights out Robin Williams. Lol
"A few light slams" woman sounds rather nice compared to what followed! The range of voices AND accents Robin could pull off was truly second to none. I can think of nobody with a broader vocal range than him. A true talent, much missed.
Robin Williams is a absolute legend he stared in some of my childhood tv shows a specially mrs doutfire near the end in the restaurant where he said “oh no I killed the bastard” 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 made me laugh big time
I’m pausing the video. Robin’s character is this good, English vocabulary, consistent accent, his wife doesn’t know about this, and he can’t keep his marriage? He can’t write love letters randomly or poems? His Mrs Doubtfire acting is perfect. I mean I know it’s scripted, but imagine being able to pull this off in real life.
0:28 Daniel: Ja, my name is Iisa Himmelman. I want to know how many children do you have? Miranda: I have 2 girls and a boy. Daniel: Oh, a boy! I don't work with the males cos I used to "BEEE" one. (Miranda made a strange look on her face as she hung up the phone) Miranda: Yikes? LOL
This movie is iconic. I also find it hilarious to read the "i didnt get it til now" comments. For some reason, i didnt have any issues understanding the innuendos and the "marketing" when i was a kid.
Last time I watched it and I watched it with my dad. Around this time my dad and on got divorced so he cried through the whole movie, but I couldn't turn it off because I love this movie!
I love all movies with Robin William's in it with a passion! Seriously am obsessed with all of them and they all have become some of my all time favorites.
Mrs. Doubtfire is the BEST parent Custody MOVIE ever. 😍 Robin Williams WILL be missed for COMEDY in MOVIES. Thanks 😍for making me laugh. Rest in peace Robin Williams🛌🌱🌴🌈🌥️⭐🍻🥂
Love this entire movie and I miss the great Robin Williams. But he left us with a magnificent collection of films and I think I saw most of them, but this is my favorite. Love Nana 🥰
