It almost looks like they have used sizing/starch on the fabric! I would definitely add color catchers when I washed the project! It would make a great box for any beginner!♥

That's good advice. Color catchers are such a wonderful invention! I agree, it seems to be a great beginner box. I gave it to one of my girls and she is thrilled to start quilting.

I have become a bit of a fabric snob for my quilt fabrics. I did start out decades ago using "craft" fabric but I have found over the years that the craft fabric does not hold up over the long haul so I only use really good quilting cotton now. This looks like a great box for a beginner to start out with and practice on. We have to remember this box is not aimed at the more advanced quilter.

That's exactly how I felt about it. It's definately not the quality I would buy now but I do believe this is better than what a beginner would find at their standard craft store. It seems like a good beginner box. 😊

It sounds like the fabric has a dense feel to it - like a good "craft" fabric. I would be curious to see how it washes & dries. It's really cute fabric. I thought the tree needle minders were wood buttons at first - looks like they might be buttons repurposed as needle minders - I would have loved to use them as decorative butons on a project. I think this is a good beginner box to get started - the booklet seems to be packed with a lot of information and tips and it looks like they give you enough fabric to make a test project and a final project!

Yes, I think you're right about the fabric. I'm not really familiar with "craft" fabrics but I bet you hit the nail on the head. I could see it being really good for things like pin cushions and those little cloths they put on top of jam jars and such. The needle minders are definitely wooden buttons repurposed as needle minders. They are really cute.

Your honest kind review of the box is refreshing. Yes, for newbie sewers etc, as the book seems to have lots of info. The fabrics seem good value and would be good for newbies to try out different skills. I was thinking along the lines of totes, placemats etc. and 2 pkts of fat quarters ample for these projects. Good review. 🇦🇺❤️

I just ordered this box but I am a advid quilter but I have seen the u tube channels and dispointed and going to wait to check the box but I’m just looking for a monthly box that I would enjoy I don’t like the boxes withe stupid boxes with candy in them and quilting notions that I all ready have I need help

I can see why you were disappointed with this one. You may want to look into some of the monthly fabric curations that Fat Quarter Shop does. Not their Sew Sampler box. They have other ones like their Sew Colorful and Low Volume Clubs. They also have some that are specific to a designer or brand like Moda and Art Gallery or Lori Holt and Kaffe Facet. There is also a box from Sew Yeah that I believe is mostly only Blender fabric with little to no notions. All of the ones I mentioned above contain quilt shop brand fabrics. I hope that helps in your search. ❤

I'm so tired of people making the comments saying this would be a good box for a beginner. That is just unbelievably rude. Beginners like good fabric just as the more advanced quilters do. The rudeness amazes me.

I'm sorry you feel that way. It wasn't meant to be rude. When I was just starting out I was afraid to mess up good fabric so I often tested things on fabrics I didn't feel bad about ruining. I've personally known many people who were the same when they were just starting out. So when I said it would be good for a beginner I was meaning it was inexpensive, better quality than what you would find in a craft store, but not as good or as big of an investment as quilt shop fabrics. I hope that helps clear things up. Also welcome to the world of quilting. Are you new to all sewing or just quilting? ☺

I used to subscribe to Mrs. Quilty. However after a few months, I found the quality of the fabric is no better than Walmarts. I think even Hobby Lobby has better. Who want to charm packs of the same cheap material, you atr paying for the book and patterns in it. Just not worth it to me.

I think they may have improved their fabric from what it used to be and that is why they sent boxes out to several people on youtube. Even with that possible improvement I don't think it is a box for more experienced quilters who are looking for quality fabric. It is definitely a box for someone who is just starting out and not wanting to worry about spoiling expensive fabrics.
