unfortunately this is not working for me. When I start tracking, I get thrown way back in the aircraft. Setting the X Axis value to the maximum of -500 I'm just able to see the cockpit door, but can't move any closer.
Finally...somebody who knows what they're talking about. Lot's of videos on the subject and most have either incomplete information or are just plain wrong about how to make Opentrack work correctly. Thanks for a great tutorial.
1st off thanks, your videos have helped me immensely, as for OpenTrack I'm getting the error saying to install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK . I've tried the other suggested outputs but they won't connect to the sim.
I get the same error as others. When I click on start I get the error "Install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK." Since the launch of MSFS I have un-installed FSX and I have never owned P3D. Does that mean I have to install FSX again to make this work? I tried the Freetrack option but nothing happens when I start MSFS.
Ok. All of a sudden it started working. The problem is I don't know what exactly I did to get it to work. I am using free track now. In any case, thanks for the video, I didn't know about this and I have to say it's a great addition to my MSFS experience
I have spent hours trying to dial in the level of smoothness shown in the opening of the video. No success up to this point. Does anyone have settings that have worked for you?
when I started Opentrack MSFS 2020 said Error Occurred while loading Microsoft FSX SimConnect, "install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK any ideas tks. I changed output to something else not MSFS and it worked its the Microsoft FSX SimConnect that's not working. I have Version 3.0. Tried ver. 2 still the same error.
@@2020fsers thanks for the response, I got freetrack to work in msfs 2020 but its not smooth, also when I look up im looking above the wing not inside the cabin. any ideas thanks.
Hi 2020fsers, love all of your videos on msfs, but I'm having trouble with this one. I have done everything up until starting opentrack, once I press the start button the application just hangs, so I press stop and it says that the fsx/prepared3d is not responding. Any ideas for this please?
Hello: I down loaded the Opentrack 2023.3.0, but in the input it does not show the Neuralnet Tracker can you please tell me if I did some thing wrong or how to get it to work. John B.
When ever I choose Microsoft FSX SimConnect as the output, the POV starts like I'm sitting on the tail of the plane. If I choose Freetrack 2.0 Enhancrd its fine.
Thank you for this video. I have tried to set up the various axis with mapping and this is too complicated for me. I just became too frustrated. I can literally look around using the hat switch on my joystick and that works very well. I may try down the road. Thank you!
When I launched Opentrack after following the set up instructions I got an error message telling me to install FSX/Prepare3D SimConnect SDK, but I followed the directions in the thread below and it works like a charm. Thanks for another great video and for the suggestions for helping with the installation.
Hey! I have the exact same issue. Some msfs forum told me to go into dev mode, go to help and install the SDK from there. I have it installed. it still doesn't work. Could you maybe reply to this... Please just instruct me on how to install the Simconnect SDK
@2020fsers Thanks for all the technical helps. I got the Cessna 152 profile tuned to a point I can take off and landed. This is a great way to fly in MSFS. Nonetheless, when opentrack is running, the mouse clicks to control the knobs & dials in the cockpit did not work, and the END key won't toggle cockpit and outside view. Am I missing a setting somewhere to enable the cockpit mouse clicks and restore the default keyboard END key & perhaps other key functions?
Thanks! My ps3 camera was crazy jittery. I got it pretty stable now, but FS2020 trees and buildings shimmer. I do have a 10700k and 3060 along with the DLSS mod. I don't have any sort of extra textures. I found Accela to be the best.
i do everything as per your video but when i start the tracking it moves me infront of the plane like i am outside the plane , and there is no way of geting inside the cockoit ---dont know what to do , pls help
How do you get the simconnect ask to work? Everytime I press start is get a startup failure saying I need to “Install FSX/Prepare3D Simconnect SDK”. I enabled developer mode and downloaded the SDK but don’t know how to get msfs2020 and open track to see it. Help please!
For some reason it keeps putting me in the back of the plane, behind the wing. I can't get it to put me into the cockpit. What am I doing wrong? And what do I need to adjust?
You can try to adjust the center position. I went over that in the video and said You may need to have a separate profile for each airplane. But some airplanes depending on the developer doesn't set up The camera position properly and even the adjustments aren't enough to get it where it needs to be and you would have to adjust the config file for the camera position.
Thanx alot! Your videos are always first class. I'm just wondering, what head tracking can actually be good for? (I most times fly in VR) If I move my head in front of the monitor, how can I keep an eye on the scene anyway?😅
I've been trying to setup opentrack serveral times and i never managed to get it to a point were i liked it. i hope this video will get Me to a point were i can enjoy head tracking and not get frustrated about it. thx a lot 4 explaining it so well (again)
hey so when i try to connect to the microsoft FSX simconnect and try to start it is just says "Install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK" is there anyway on how to fix this?
when i start to track i see a pilot but i have nothing in the comunity folder thats for a pilot and theres nothing checked in the fbw a230 , also i the mouse not working when im tracking
not sure about the pilot thing but make sure your cockpit interaction is set to legacy. You may need to adjust the default view in the opentrack app check the 6 min mark
Hi interesting tutorial. Just started and noticed that my OpenTrack doesn't have the Tracker option. Have seen it before but not at the moment, any clues??
I am from Argentina, a great explanation you have given about open track...My level of English is not very high but the way you explained it (paused) I was able to follow you throughout the tutorial, understanding everything you said. Thank you very much and it has been very helpful. Nice video and tutorial.
I started the sim and did everything you said. It says I need to install some SDK simconnect and I can't link it with Msfs. headtracker works but not in msfs
I installed it and tried again. It's still not working... Is there any specific steps after installation? or is there anywhere specific I need to install SimConnect? I installed the SP1 since mine is the steam version. Idk what to do and I really want this to work!
@@2020fsers Ok. I'll explain what happened, so I extracted the files, I opened the SimConnect.dll file, and my computer needs an additional software to open it. Please lmk if i'm doing it wrong. If not, thanks a lot for your efforts to help me!
Brilliant Tutorial. I understand things a lot better now. Thank you. My only problem is that when I'm sitting in the Fenix 320 looking at all the screens ready to setup my flight - I then start the opentrack app, and suddenly I appeared to have moved forward around 5 feet as if i'm sitting outside the cockpit - and that is now my default view. When i turn the app off, i'm left in that view until i reset the cockpit view via the Camera setting on MSFS. Any ideas?
Excellent Tutorial. I will be following start to finish when setting up. What quality webcam do I need? I got an inexpensive Logitech 720p to start with
I have seen some others using a combination of TRACK IR and OPEN TRACK. You only use Open Track. Is there a difference. I will be working on mine shortly and might be prepared tp purchase a better webcam
@cwood7240 track ir has its own software and works very well. However you can use opentrack with tobii and bypass the in sim settings which give way more control over it.
Not having the expected result, i cant seem to get a stable image. not even if a crank the position and rotation way up. my image still keeps rocking back and forth ( a bit, but its anoying). Also i cant set my mapping like yours, i cant create the flat line at the end without adding an extra point. and my Z axis is messing up my position in the airplane. i often sit behind my seat or to close to PFD and it randomly changes. Now i bought a second hand Tobii 5 for 80 euros, i hope this will make it more stable. i will arrive in a few days. wish me luck.
When I press the "Start" as in 9:35, I am getting the following error: Startup failure Error occurred while loading protocol Microsoft FSX SimConnect Install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK. I downloaded and installed "FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK", and still getting the same error. Am I missing something?
@@2020fsers Switched to "freetrack 2.0 Enhanced", I can start the opentrack without errors and completed the Option setup. But there is no head tracking in MSFS!
@@2020fsers I also attempt to run the Config SDK and get this error: Are you sure you want to update the SDK tool configuration files to refer to the current Lockheed Martin Prepar3D installation path? (Yes/No): y Unable to find the Lockheed Martin Prepar3D installation path. Lockheed Martin Prepar3D must be installed and have been ran at least once. Press any key to exit...
Hmm ok you could also try the fsuipc output method and download the fsuipc app it's free and use that 1 instead . You could also try and bind the eye tracking toggle in msfs and see if that works to toggle on .
Did you try and restart your pc after you installed the simconnect sdk? Just wondering maybe that needs to be done . And then try the msfs output option again
It seems that the Simconnect output method causes MSFS to switch into a different mode which causes the shimmering if you have DLSS enabled and also needs the legacy control mode enabled. If you switch output to freetrack 2.0 enhanced it works much better, keep everything else as per this video
Added a NexiGo N940P 2K Webcam which produces a good image. I followed your instructions on downloading an installing OpenTrack, but it won't open. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but I can't get it to open. any idea what's wrong?❓
Thanks very much, works great. Maybe you can help me with 2 questions: 1 keep getting these 2 pilot Avatar pilots by default in the cockpit. How to turn them off? Ther is quite some shimmering inside and outside around objects. Any idea how to improve? (DLSS active - Quality setting) Thanks!!
The pilot issue you possibly can adjust the weights to remove them . With shimmering use the new dlss dll file 3.6 using the dlss swapper tool. Also check out my nvidia panel settings that will help also.
I’ve had Trackir for 10yrs. It worked very well with the exception of some light conflict from time to time. I just got tired of wearing a hat or clip on my headset. I switched to Tobii eye and head tracking. What a game changer with the new software update…
@@2020fsers From what I have seen they are very good, but I use a 49” ASU’s ROG monitor and I have been told that they are not very good wide ultra wide monitors. Would be interested if anybody can advise me otherwise.
Thanks but i found to many option factors involved. Thought this might be better than no tracker ir but its not. My web cams the same as yours might work for some but for me no tracker ir is much better
Great video, gave it a go but it killed my frame rate. Removed OpenTrack and went back to TrackIR and all was fine again. Using a 12700K and RTX3080ti.
Oh if you have track ir use that instead that is the best I have used to date . But a mystery as to why you saw such a frame drop . Thanks for the comment
@@2020fsers The only reason why I was trying it was to see if I could stop wearing a hat with the track clip on. I agree that TrackIR is almost flawless.
Another great video, what a find this is. Unfortunately when OpenTrack is enabled in MSFS I cannot manipulate any of the knobs/switches with the mouse. Any ideas?
I know it's been a few months already but I just got a Logitech Brio Webcam to try this. I'm using Freetrack 2.0 as output but couldn't get Z axis to work. All other axis work fine and I've fine tuned all the curves in the settings to my preference. Just couldn't get the Z axis to register when I move my head closer to the guages. Don't know why. Anyway, just want to thank you for all your great videos and tutorials. Keep up the great work.
@@2020fsers No movement at all. I'll try setting the Min Max range and try again. After rewatching your tutorial, I have to recheck a few other settings. Thanks for your response.
@@2020fsers Just an update, I gave up with the Z axis. My workaround is to set up custom camera views instead to zoom in the gauges. On the Opentrack preview page, the raw data shows that Z axis movement is detected but no movement in the game data panel. Don't know what's going on. Thanks for all your suggestions.
@@2020fsers i follow your channel for a long time, since you posted hotfixes for graphic problems in MSFS. Was a great help which i still use today (intelligent standby list cleaner). Even if my PC is not the best one, i have no problems whatsoever with stuttering, everything runs smooth. That said, you helped me A LOT! Thx!
@@2020fsers Hello there, I tried it and everything works with the exception that it doesn’t let me toggle between cockpit and external views, when I press start it sends me directly to an external view and it doesn’t let me toggle to the cockpit view
I have issues a jettry movement as I'm using ps3 camera and unable to use Microsoft flight simulator output as it needs to installed fsuipc. Any help plz
@@2020fsers i am having a weird problem and not sure where to look. If i use the msfs link whenever i try to toggle int/ext view it flashes as if it is going to change view and instantly reverts back. E.g. if i am in cockpit view and select external view it flashes the ext plane view then reverts back and visa versa. If i use freetrack v2 everything works as it should.
Pure Gold!! Thank you so much, I purchased a headset with customised OpenTrack that is heavy and never seems to work properly. I'm going to try vanilla OpenTrack thanks to your crystal clear explanations - you are probably the most helpful RU-vidr out there 🙂
Hi from Australia. Great video, Thanks. I was wondering if you could help me with an issue i have with the output setting as when I start video on Openntrack I get the following error message. "Error occurred while loading protocol Microsoft FSX SimConnect, Install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK." I have installed SimConnect but the error persists. Can you help. Much appreciated. Abe
I guess everyone is three years old where you have to spend thirty Minutes explaining every little detail within the program. You and this video are simply a waste of time.
