I needed to choose a new laptop for work (Photoshop, Illustrator, Keyshot, CAD, etc) and after a month of comparing decided on this spec with the 4K panel and couldn’t be more happy. This thing is an absolute beast, every IO you’d need, 100% Adobe RGB, and steal at $2k USD

if content creation is your thing, i would wait for them to put AMD in it, coz ur gonna save half the time in rendering, editing, etc but for gaming? intel still gives u the highest frame rates
@@samarthbhat7889 Sorry, not true. Check out Ben G's review of the AMD Omen 15. The scrubbing was sketchy and the playback within Premier had many hundreds of dropped frames. When i asked him, he answered (I love it when reviewers answer real questions, rather than just respond to praises). Ben G said the problem would disappear with an Intel Processor and a 2070 gpu (the Ryzen only went to a 1660Ti).
Placed order for mine with 4K panel & RTX 2060 since i am not that high gamer or content creator. Just my office work with some extra power in hand to use just in case? .. excited !!
Creator 15 is really nice but targeting mostly photo editing professionals since it's geared towards AdobeRGB, while Creator 17 with 98% DCI-P3 is for professional video work
Nice video. A couple of stuff that would've been worth mentioning: It won't take you more than ~10 minutes to just run cbr20 and normal firestrike on battery so that we'll know by how much the laptop underperforms on battery. That is very essiential since it will make you stand out as a reviewer. Not everyone uses their laptops with chargers plugged in to them all the time. You reviewed the Prestige 15 last year but when i got it, i saw that MSI limits the cpu's pl1 and pl2 both to 15W and there's nothing i can do. It ain't your fault for not mentioning it, but it would be great if you would add those results in your videos. You keep ignoring my comments about this criticism every time, i hope this time you won't. Back to the Creator 15. The keyboard layout this year is awful, it straight up sucks. Moving the fn key on the right side and halving right ctrl's and fn's width is a wrong move. Also, there's no need for an extra / key near the fn key. The screen is annoyingly glossy and almost unusable in bright environments (f.e: an office). A matte screen protector would help a lot. The fans are also annoyingly loud, even at idle and during light tasks (unless you switch to the silent profile but that one throttles the cpu&gpu heavily). Msi (just like in GS66) raised the fans' minimum speed to 2500rpm (only when the cpu temp is at 30ºC), and as a result, unless you switch to the dumb performance throttling profiles, the fans will always spin, and the annoying part is that all 3 spin at around 2800-3100 rpm depending on the cpu temp. You can partialy improve it by switching to the "advanced" fan profile (while still keeping the highest performance) and setting the Gpu fan's first dot (from the left) to 0%. This will make the gpu fans stop until the cpu hits ~65ºC. During this time, because only the smaller cpu fan spins, it generates considerably less noise. During your light - mid tasks, the laptop will now be way less noisier. You can also set the cpu fan's first dot to 0% so that all fans will be off, but cpu fan's starting temp is at ~51ºC and as soon as it hits 51ºC, it will turn on and start spinning at ~3000 rpm. Because the cpu with all fans off will often fluctuate its temps between upper 40s and low 50s ºC, you'll often hear the smaller single cpu fan turn on, off, on, off... which is very annoying. Because the single smaller fan produces less noise, i think that it is a better idea to leave it spin all the time, but you have the chance to change that. Also, even though the batterylife test results were good, this laptop is capable of much more because there's definitely something wrong that is making the laptop draw that much power during those light battery tests. On the way you tested, hitting only around 10 hours of use means that the power draw of the laptop is ~9.5 to 10 W (99.99Whr/10 hours or so). Consuming ~9.5 to 10W in a laptop with these types of conponents is not normal, especially for a laptop with such a big battery. ~ 7W to 8W would be totally acceptable.
Do you have the laptop or did you test it yourself? Considering getting one. I want something with high performance and a touch screen under $2,000. Preferably something that's bright too. Any recommendations?
Nice, it seems that it is Jarrod's habit to ignore constructive criticism. It's in everyone's advantage to at least consider what i recommended. The ws66 that you reviewed months ago uses the same body and similar specs and overall configuration as the Gs66 and Creator 15. You had the chance to mention the fans issue, the plastic fron bezel issue in the gs66 video because you missed them in the Ws66 video. You could also adress those issues in this Crrator 15 review but again, you decided to ignore actual recommendations that improve the laptop and actually your videos. Keep up your "great" work.

for gaming go G14- 120hz screen for content creation and multi tasking go G14 - AMD chip so basically go G14 and save urself a few hundred dollars . PS: idk who will perform better in UI and graphic designing, but both have an rtx 2060
This with a ryzen 4000/5000 would have been a much easier choice for anyone wanting such a good laptop. Also maybe a higher refresh touchscreen might have been good (if such panels exist hehe)
Shame it doesn't have Ryzen. Also, what's the deal with 2666 MHz RAM? This is the third premium laptop I've seen using it despite the platform supporting faster memory. They probably got a nice deal on it.

I bought a gs66 stealth but returned it due to the corner of the long front plastic covering part cracking for no reason after 1 day of use. I did some research online and it seems like there were many users with a same issue. Do you know if the material used for the creator 15 is exactly the same as the gs66 stealth? I really like this laptop and want to get it but want to make sure it doesn't have that same issue. Thanks.

Question: In checking your Amazon link, I saw a 2070 for $100 more than this 2060 reviewed model. Is it worth the GPU upgrade and how much better would be it's performance and cooling for primarily video editing?
I'm no expert but I think investing the extra money on more Ram or storage might make a bigger impact on your performance and productivity. There are several videos showing the marginal differences in performance in laptop Nvidea Gpus, so there shouldn't be a huge difference anyway.
Yes, for video editing I'd definitely spend the extra $100 for it. You can upgrade the memory and storage yourself for cheaper if you need to do so later.
@@nathantamang6182 I got tired of waiting for Jerrod to get back to me (I will buy through his link anyway), so I went on an info quest. In looking further, the 2060 is not that far from the 1660 ti, and the 2070 is a whole bump up from the GTX. The GPU does not come into play as much for gaming, but counts alot for video editing, especially scrubbing and playback within Premiere. Jerrod, especially for an editing laptop (and for all since many creators are buying gaming laptops), could you do as Ben G does and show performance in video playback and smoothness of scrubbing. I cancelled my AMD Omen 15 order when I saw how many dropped frames the AMD version (as opposed to the Intel) had in scrubbing and video playback through Premiere (hear that AMD fan boys)???

The more I watch your videos the more I am unsure wether to upgrade or not. Atm I've got a MSI GS65 RF and it's starting to slow down after nearly 2 1/2 years. With AMD starting to get over Intel is it worth to wait for the new Ryzen Laptops or is an upgrade right now still ok?

I have a lenovo y530 with an intel i5 8300h, 8gb of ram, and a gtx 1060 mobile that I bought 2 months ago in the Philippines since this was the best option that I could find at the time, is my pc specs still good for 2020 gaming? I am planning to upgrade my ram to 32gb in the future, is that a good idea of maximizing performance?
I returned my GS66 because too much noise at idle and this one seems to do the same. There is no excuse for a laptop to make so much noise while doing nothing or simple daily tasks. The silent profile is a lie and the noise you get out of it is stil audible from 2 rooms away and too disturbing for normal light and office work. All the tuning you can do will kot help with the fact that fans are just too nosiy at minimum speed. Otherwise it would have been perfect...
Im torn between this MSI (with the 1080 screen) and the HP envy 15 (4K screen) both are similar in specs and price with the exception of the screens. Is the MSI 100% srgb or close to? Or should I go with the HP instead? I’ll be using it for photo editing (weddings and portraits) using Lightroom and photoshop.
I'm going crazy comparing the creator 15 and the gs66 If I understand correctly, the "gs66 10se 616es" has rtx 2060, fhd, 240hz and it's relatively good with color accuracy. The creator 15 on other hand "a10SD 276 es" has 1660ti, fhd, 144hz and the color accuracy is similar. So between the two I was thinking that it's better the gs66 I know I could go with a creator with a 2060 but, correct me if I'am wrong, they only have 60hz, so... And I know that for creators the best is a 4k pannel but I like gamming too and 60hz seem low. Are any more differences besides the fingerprint touchpad and the sd card slot/usb type a? What do you think? Thanks!!

u should look out for lenovo 5i or 7i, g14 has only 1080p 120hz or 1440p 60hz, and the screen response time isn't great but if ur getting g14 for content creation, nothing comes close to it for now becoz AMD

Most at $700 with decent CPU/GPU will have crap screens, might be possible if you get lower power, otherwise $1000 or so for something like the Legion 5 should cover everything.

Have you considered gs66 10se? I7, 240hz instead of 60 or 144 of the 15m. You lose de sd card anyway but the screen is better than the 15m I don't know about the quality of the touchpad or if there are any more differences
Damn if only it had AMD... Not only would it be cheaper, but it would be better in terms of performance. It needs AMD if it's a creator laptop. More cores and threads, higher clock speed which means more performance.

@@JarrodsTech I'm encountering an issue after adjusting just the Core V, the battery performance drops significantly. Is there something in Throttle stop that cause this drain?
This flipping screen key is useless, there is a normal key combination for that working on any keyboard, I thought creators are creative people and know some basic shortcuts.. Anyway, it is good they put it on their keyboard for people who are lazy to read, the other can just remap that key
