Had this laptop a week now and love the build quality and design the thermals are meh but can be tweaked very easily or use a cooling pad and its a thin build what did I expect. The power of this thing is amazing tho and msi cut no corners there. Didnt think I would see much difference with a mux but my god looking at my desktop hurts now lol. The 240hz display is beautiful and crisp. Really recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a 3060 gpu.

I had Andobil but eventually it started to fail. Right now finding a good working hub might be difficult. I know Anker can do it but I haven’t yet tried there hubs. If you get a hub be sure it has a removal cord if it doesn’t probably just don’t even buy it. I had one good hub made by a companies name that is long forgotten they didn’t even label anything on there device and yes it had a removal usb c cord but I can’t find out who made it… it truly was and still is the best hub I’ve used… Sorry I couldn’t be more useful…

I had an issue with mine, before repeating thermal paste, I opened it up, applied thermal paste, of course I did unplug battery and all. But now it doesn’t seem to turn on, took it to shop, turned it back on but I opened it up and doesn’t turn back on.

yup they made it so hard to work with that its possible something may have broken inside. My guess though is that the battery is not plugged in or the cord may have been damaged. examine the cord in detail that connects the battery and repair it if you need to. very that the cord works by conducting testing. Examine the machine for other signs of damage if you bumped the transistors it could break them and you might be able to replace them. The other thing would be to contact manufacturer and ask them to run diagnostics. If they seem like they cant help just keep trying and youll find someone that can.

Have you tried gaming with low settings? Coz all i really care about is high fps. I wonder if games like destiny,battlefield could even reach atleast above 144hz with low settings

Hi seriously considering gs66 was looking at an ASUS Rog G15 . That seemed better in some departments . Do all versions of the 2021 GS66 stealth have a 1440p res option ? Finding it real hard to find a clear answer online .

I just bought the GS66 stealth (using it right now to type up this comment) the thermals on this thing are awful. CPU hits 95-100C and will hit T-junction and automatically shut down when under load. this laptop needs serious attention to be able to be used as you see in this video. (I assume MSI gave his unit extra love to make sure it didn't crap out on him in a video) I strongly recommend looking at other options :)

Actually I bought this with my own money in the US market from a best buy store, this unit did have issues its not perfect but these days almost all laptops have issues. The thermals arent great and I use a boyota laptop stand to prop the machine up and give it better air flow. but yeah its a thin gaming laptop of course the thermals will suck its a rare to find a machine that can run cool and be thin.. yes your right its very confusing, seems like they can make a laptop but not a specifications list lol, the newer versions tend to have the higher 2560x1440 res but some also have a 1080p res, these are most likely the older config models that have 2000 series rtx graphics. hope the video was helpful and would love to have you both as a subscriber :)

@@SERGE_Tech hey thanks guys for your replies , I ended up buying a razer 17 pro the 4K version and I am not disappointed . The display and performance on this thing are mind blowing . With the RTX 2080 super max Q . Amazon were selling them at a reduced price . So far I’ve played doom eternal and Jedi fallen order . Both performed incredible . Will be testing more games over the next few days .

It would be the lower end wattage since its an ultra book form factor, this isnt like a desktop class 3060. However it doesn't make a super huge difference but if your like me you always get the higher wattage to get that extra 2-5 fps. Well the games that I play are pretty intensive which means we wont be able to see more fps then about 70 its sorta sad, such a fast display gimped by its hardware.

@@SERGE_Tech theres no way in hell you're only getting 70fps on overwatch, something is definitely wrong. my 1050ti gets close to 140fps on medium-high settings and the 3060 is 200% faster

I think its 95watt maybe even smaller. but there are some that run at 125-135watt so these thin machines dont have the same level of performance you would expect if the machine wasnt gimped.

Darn this is a really good question I wish I had tested for that. I am going to make a note for my future video to make sure I have these details this is super important because not all gpus will run at the same wattage, due to battery and fan configurations. Anyway great question, my assumption is that its a mid tier watt so its probably not the highest or the lowest, the performance seems to be quite good on these msi laptops, I played some of the most demanding games like RUST and GTA5. I think that even if its wattage is on the lower end it can't be that bad, it has at least multiple fans, decent heat pipe design, yes its true its a thin and light machine but msi does care about performance and thinness. At the very least they have a happy medium. If you happen to find out the tgp please let me know. It doesn't seem like there is enough information on this machine, I really should get more details like this. Thank you for the awesome comment. @@SERGE_Tech thanks man! Just checked MSI's website and it's a 80 watt(95 watt with dynamic boost) rtx 3060 and also this laptop should have a mux switch too cuz the GS76 stealth have it and these two models are pretty much identical so I hope this one have a mux switch too.

I have the same computer for 1 month but I find that it is much too noisy. At rest the fan speed is 2700 RPM which is a lot while the CPU is at 40 degrees

just use msi center to create a custom user profile for the fan to have it not be on at all under 65c which is the furthest left slider

Yea definitely something wrong on overwatch. You should easily be over 120fps on that. Something was locked or something in the settings.

I had to replace the thermal paste after about 2 months I was getting high 95c with the same specs is this normal? Or did I just get bad luck?

For some reason most manufactures are known for doing bad paste jobs, I hear to many complaints from msi but I think it can happen the paste job is fast and simple and probably easy to mess up. Must have been just bad luck.

This is normal. Unfortunately, the GS66 suffers from extreme "pump out" on the CPU and an inadequate CPU cooler. Meaning, the extreme and rapid heating and cooling effectively pushes the thermal paste away from the center of the die, and you have to repaste. My GS66 had the 10750H and RTX 2070 Super Max-Q. While the GPU would always be running well and relatively cool, my CPU temps also eventually crept to 95c even after multiple repastes. Neglection leads to T-Junction shut offs. This is after I repasted and re-padded the entire laptop with a -0.7mV undervolt (max I could do). It's best to use thicker thermal paste. Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut is particularly thicker than others and suffers less from "pump out" (but still requires repastes eventually). Don't use Kryonaut! It's pretty bad on small and bare die processors! I eventually got rid of my GS66 ): CPU thermal performance was just too poor. Beware new buyers, this GS66 requires a lot of maintenance. Although it runs fast and often always full throttle (even to T-Junction), the hardware heat output exceeds the heatsink cooling capacity. Too many compromises and tweaks necessary to keep it running cool ):

@@kd-37 Yeah I had to do that too but, like I said, too many compromises and tweaks necessary to keep it running cool ): Most of which, the average user doesn't know how to do or are unwilling to do. Other laptops can run at default TDPs without overheating, IMO it's a poor design (plus a hot CPU). The refreshed versions suffer from the same fate. I would just get a Legion 5/Pro instead, they're similar prices, but the Legion 5/Pro is way faster (higher TDPs) and stays cooler.

which game? Yeah the cooling on these machines is kinda bad... like it works but the thermal throttling is whats probably to blame. Is your fan profile set correctly? windows plan settings can help with that? Any other issues?

It gets fairly loud, if you want quiet gaming youll need a macbook for that but this loud gamer laptop phenomena is pretty much the same for all of the machines. Do you nee dit perfectly silent?

I've got it, it gets loud as any gaming laptop dB wise, however because of the size of the fans, it is kinda high pitched so it's pretty noticeable unless you've got headphones. You can however make your own fan curve and undervolt in order to get better thermals and thus make it quieter. If you use an external fan, then better lol

Honestly I’m hugely disappointed, I bought the rtx 3070 version with 2k display, can’t even set gta5 on highest setting without getting like 20-30fps, a game that’s 100years old. For a playable FPS I had to suck up with the crap anti aliasing
