Hey, I got to call it like I see it....lol.

How’s the battery life? Can it go to 8hrs at least (Non-Gaming)? If im doing web searches and Netflix, can I go 8hrs straight?

@@kjizzle1327 if you have game pass its worth it. You can download games from there. I recommend upgrading your graphics driver to direct x 12 though.

You can change the settings in the control center to keep the fans at bay when you’re not gaming.

You can adjust the settings where it stays quiet. I have not had any issues.

You can adjust the settings for it to remain relatively quiet.

open the steel series app and set it to Disco

FN + F9 to toggle keyboard lighting ;) FN + F10 or FN + F11 for brightness

The msi one is on hard sale right now it used to be $2000 and now it's only $1500 it's in the same league as the legion 5 now. If you are wondering why the price is soo high I live in a 3rd world country, the taxes are atrocious for these laptops.

MSI all day in my opinion. GS66 and GE66 are both great especially when they are on sale.

Oh but why is it better for your opinion tho? I mean the legion is more powerful overall right? Hmm maybe is it because that the msi has superior build and better portability as an all rounder laptop?

MSI specializes in gaming laptops where Lenovo created a division inside their company. I tend to go with the companies who’s focus is on the type of product I want. For example, I wouldn’t buy running shoes from Apple if they made them. That’s a little extreme, but it’s just to show you where I’m coming from. I normally don’t just look at the specs. I have to see the performance of how everything works together. Just my 2 pennies.

I'm not using it anymore but it was pretty solid while I had it. I had no worries about it.

It’ll be fine for music production. If you use a lot of plug ins, make sure you upgrade the RAM.

Thank you for that comment, i am considering buing a gs66 rn.I had a chonky alienware 17 before, and not gonna lie, the looks and size of the msi are tempting, however im a bit scared that the build quality is gonna be shit. Would you reccomend it to a college student as a "desktop replacememt"?

Fans don’t bother me in general. Especially if I have in headphones or connected to a tv or monitors with speakers.

It’ll probably charge with the TB, but it won’t charge as fast as using the supplied adapter unless you get a Thunderbolt charger comparable in size which would defeat the purpose. I believe thunderbolt tops out at 100W where as the supplied charger is well over 200W if I’m not mistaken.

@@reddbeats4932 None. I bought it at a Swedish electronics store called "Elgiganten". Chose the laptop, paid and it was shipped yesterday and i can pick it up today.

I ended up returning it for a Lenovo Legion 5 15,6" 165Hz ips, with Ryzen 7 5800H eight cores and 16 threads, RTX 3060 115+15w TDP, 1Tb NVME SSD, 16Gb DDR4 3200 MHz. It only have white color backlit keyboard, the keyboard is Legion Truestrike which is better than previous Lenovo gaming laptop keyboards. But hybrid mode started to result in black screen and after the neccessary reboot afterwards it resulted in a black screen and i then needed to go into bios and choose discrete graphics to make the screen display everything as it should so i returned it too for a Legion 5 17,3" with same gpu and cpu, 144Hz FHD screen, 16Gb 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, 512Gb nvme ssd.

Either will be fine for beat making. Just ensure you upgrade your RAM if you plan to use a lot of plug ins and samples or multiple software integration (ie MPC 2.0 ReWired to Ableton Live). My son uses a mid tier HP Omen and has no trouble.

@@TheDefensivemaniac I see what you did there...lol. Even though I hate telling folks what to do with their money, since you put it that way, I'd probably snatch the GS66. Only because I got more for less money in the models I purchased (better graphics card, RGB keyboard, Thunderbolt, etc).

You can easily change the settings to quiet mode and you’ll be fine. Every manufacturer has an option in their “control center” to do this. As long as you don’t try to push it while in that mode, it should stay quiet.

I did not. Just the included "extension" of 3 months when completing a survey. It's on a card in the box.

Have you tried changing the settings in Dragon Center? You can adjust the fans there. I have not had that issue.

I can barely hear it. Then again, I sometimes take it out of performance mode.

@@ProTechShawn if you go to dragon center, you click on monitor and it tells you the precise speed of the cpu fan. if you can tell me accurately you would be doing me a big favor brother . however I really liked the video, keep it up bro 😎

Lo mejor es hacer undervolting con el throttlestop y reducir la frecuencia de los cores ya que por alguna razon intel utiliza constantemente el turboboost llevandolos al limite el procesador aunque no estes realizando ninguna accion, por lo cual se accionan los ventiladores debido a esto, constantemente lleva los nucleos al maximo sin ningun sentido por lo cual calienta el procesador. Poder realizar hasta 4 perfiles, yo para uso normal lo tengo en 37 y -85 mv de voltage del cpu, con el dragon center seleccionas Silent y directamente no se escuchan. Para juegos si no los llevo al limite como GTA con muchos mods, rdr2 en ultra, fornite en epico, etc directamente lo dejo con el undervolting porque para ese tipo de tareas no precisa multiproceso, se concentra en el videojuego y no asigna los nucleos para diferentes aplicaciones como si estarias con el navegador, instalando algo, usando algun programa trabajando etc. Por lo cual podes dejarlo asi y directamente poner los ventiladores en Balanced no en Extremo y verificar que no va a pasar de los 70 grados ninguna de las dos cosas. En el supuesto caso de querer hacer OC con el dragon center y el Extreme performance de msi, tenes que poner los ventiladores al maximo pero tene en cuenta que es una laptop, si usarias una desktop al 80% a poca distancia de tus oidos seria lo mismo, con auriculares no escuchas nada. Sino tenes la opcion de conectarle un monitor externo y los perifericos dejandola apartada como si fuera un cpu. Hay bastantes tutoriales para usar el throttle, tuve bastantes computadoras de escritorio y laptops y es la mas silenciosa en uso normal comparada con una macbook. En el caso de utilizar la refrigeracion al maximo, te aseguro que una macbook i9 con una radeon de 6gb literalmente arde y solo hace falta abrir el chrome para sentir una turbina en el oido.

Depends on your needs and, more importantly, if it’s on sale. I wouldn’t pay the full price for it since it was released earlier this year and new laptops with the newer Nvidia cards are on the horizon.

That’s what I would do if I was in the market. I don’t necessarily like telling people what to do with their money. Just try to provide as much unbiased info as possible to make a sensible decision. I only buy them for the videos. Lol. Happy shopping!

Thanks! But, Everybody's experience with customer service with any company will be different. Apple has the absolute best and yet some people hate them because of theyre personal experience. So I recommend them off of what I've experienced and they haven't given me any issues. I also dont do any billing through them so that department may be different. I also don't call, i use chat most if the time. I don't like Lenovo's CS because of my personal experience last year. Some people hit me saying i was wrong. At the end if the day, it either company were that bad, they wouldn't be able to continue to make so much money.

@@thetrav8730 I understand what you’re trying to say but In truth laptops use power, and the more your laptop is being demanded the more power it uses and this causes heat. And yes there are things that can lessen this heat but no matter how much money you put in a laptop, it won’t prevent your laptop from overheating. I never had a gaming laptop but I’ve done a lot of research although I don’t know much, this much is pretty self explanatory. But If your laptop is running hot, it may just be dusty inside even if it’s new. Or there might just be a problem with your laptop. Everyone has a different experience with things. Again don’t take my advice because I don’t know much but yeah I just wanted to say that not everything’s perfect

i have this laptop for almost a yr...after some tweaks its great...just using for web and movies i sit at 37 to 42c...gaming i dont hit 80...59 to 76c for the most part...but like i said have to tweak it..
