Something a lot of people don't take into account is that square power adapter plug! It prevents the plug from rolling around inside the port, which causes it to loosen over time. Anyone who's ever had their power cord fall out of their laptop because it got loose? That's why. Pound for pound, the Asus Scar Strix 17 is better than this laptop, but not by enough. I'd pick this with the square power plug over the round Asus, for that reason alone.
I’d never suggest getting a 4K screen on a laptop, even a 17 inch, dumbest thing ever, the 3080 mobile can’t really even do 120 hz native in most games, plus 1440p looks great for a laptop and you get way more frames
same here, you should check out the HP Z Book Fury 17 it has a really good cooling system and if you are paying 4 grand for a laptop, you might as well check one out too

@@GenTechPC Ok, ups I thought it was "GE7611046" I´m trying to find a review on that model's display, because I 've seen people saying it is too dark, and others saying it is not, 1 video showed perfect colors, another not... so I'm confused... LOL and this review was very detailed, sadly not the same display
Ive same model it throttle to 2.7 ghz on benchhamrk giving score around 14k. Msi confirmed it has an issue, but checking with you after dissamplying, I'm pretty sure that the LM not setup correctly. I'm re applying thermal grizzly conduct and see what would be the different bec I've same spikes but no way for me to stress it with 3.5ghz all core, it always drop to 2.7 due to thermal throttle. People on reddit confirmed that they can stress is with 75watt without throttle giving 3.8 to 4.1Ghz with score around 16-18k
I was curious to see the Cinebench R23 score compared to my X17 R2 and I got 17,004. But from what I've seen Dell has limited the GPU and it needs a bit of help to achieve good scores and FPS. All of these high end lappy's are pretty close on performance, mostly with some tweaking. I think it comes down to aesthetics and personal preference. How thin people want, if you want a num pad, if you need ports in a specific place, screen resolution preference, etc... There are pros and cons to all of them depending on preferences. I can tell those interested in the X17R2... the speakers suck (use headphones anyway), AW Control Center is atrocious, not having the secondary keys lighted is stupid, Cherry MX is tingy sounding. Other than that, in my opinion, great machine... lol ;)
The cores of 12th gen from 0~5 seem run pretty hot and causing throttle quite a bit, pretty sure that's the reason for lower Cinebench R23 score, all brands are pretty much the same with 12th Gen.
You're right on the preference im looking into buying a gaming laptop and I was leaning towards the X17, but when I saw the number pad on the 76 im like awww man I gotta get it. I had a Macbook from mid-2015 and I hated it not having the num. pad. Both are very good high-end gaming laptops, I know I'd be happy with either one, but like you said preferences!
I'm sorry about 14 minutes in and not one game was played to show any type of FPS or 1% lows or anything like that I don't understand this is a gaming laptop not a benchmark synthetic type of laptop sure it's got an HX processor which is made more for creativity purposes but at the end of the day these machines are going to be utilized more or less for gaming not editing to have a fair assessment of what the machine should do you should at least have played two or three games to get an idea
One more thing, for almost the same price, you'll get dual screen resolutions on GE76, 4K 120 hz and 2k 240 hz. X17 R2 has only one resolution screen 1080p, 165hz 3ms response time (cheaper) or 360hz with 1ms. response time
Oh, they have added a 4k option now for X17 R2. But it's gonna get more expensive. For the price of GE76, you can get the 4k screen if you choose the i7 variant 12700H.
The design of cooling seems to bad in my opinion compared to other coolings this laptop should have at least 4 fans with that specs or external liquid cooling like the XMG oasis
4 fans = more noise and less battery life, simply adding more fans doesn't do much unless you also have the heatpipes in mind. Also, liquid cooling on a laptop is still in its early stages, the water on the laptop after you unplug the pump can come out and damage the laptop. I think the cooling is very good for this laptop considering what it is pulling and what performance its offering. A simple undervolt on the CPU and gpu will make this almost worth its current price.
@@nanezferrer3565 lol yes. Also 4 fans on a 15.6 inch laptop would be basically impossible to fit inside, of course unless they make them super small which would make more noise when in use (coil whine, high pitch air sound, etc). You see, gaming laptops aren't something that you simply turn on for the first time and game at max power like a gaming console, they need care and fine tunning you can run them at 100 percent and ruin them or you can game at 98 percent with everything stabilized. (If that makes any sense)
