@@lynengmix8175 The cooling system works very well, the fans are loud when on the coolerboost setting, but the GPU never goes above 72c and the CPU will hit the 95c thermal limit but can still maintain an all core turbo of 4.1ghz indefinitely
Thank you for this detail test. First one I’ve seen in English since the laptop is so new. I was thinking about getting this and returning my Asus ROG M15 (got it from Best Buy for $800) and looking at the scores my laptop beats it. R15 I scored 146fps CPU score of 1380 and fire strike score of 14320. It has i7 10750H and GTX 1660Ti
Did you happen to run HW info and get information on the PL1 and PL2 limits, one review site said the PL1 value was set in the 40's which is much higher than other Tiger lake implementations
Hey bud solid review. thank you for your time. Let me ask you does it have a DPL alt mode 1.2? Most of MSIs USBC ports arnt DP. Any info on this? Thank you. Want to connect a monitor that is only powered by USBC to it.
Thanks for the review, does the laptop pass the "One finger lid opening"? I currently have a GE63 Raider RBG, and after 1.5 half years the hinges are breaking because the plastic shell inside the laptop it's not strong enough. What do you think about this model? I'm looking for an alternative to my current model. I really appreciate your answer!
1)What about it's battery life? 2)How does the build quality feels like? 3)Were the hinges were upgraded or it's the exactly the same body from GS65 which had a breaking hinge problem? 4)Also, what is the body material, is it plastic or metal?
Shame on MSI for not including an PCIe Gen 4 SSD with this laptop, the kingston one is PCIe Gen 3 and does not do well vs other Gen 3.0 SSD's out there
Hi, today i have received my unit, but i noticed that the power button feels harder to press than others, so i though that its intentionally done to avoid pressing by mistake, but i would like to know if your unit have the same.
Hey thanks for the review!!!! i was waiting for a review of this laptop. Im thinking in buy my first gaming laptop but still can decide between this model and the gs66 with RTX 2060. Which of these will you guys recommend and why? And sorry for my english, im a spanish speaker
Just got mine today doing some initial numbers but I can say MSI nailed the cooling system on this and has very high PL1 and PL2 limits vs other 1185 laptops
@Thomas Brandl Yes when set to the balanced silent or super battery mode while plugged in the fans are either off or quiet. In the extreme performance mode the fans run on low all the time but they are barely noticeable. Low speed on the fans is approx 2500rpm, the max speed when coolerboost is on is 6500rpm
@@GenTechPC That's not exactly true. You can change it in the MSI software. I just bought this laptop from you guys and have changed the lights a few times.
I'm doing it, i might return my xps 13 9310 with 16gb 4267mhz ram, i7 1185g7, 512gb ssd, w/ 4k touch screen for this power house of laptop. What do u think? Should I ?
No, my testing of the Asus ROG M15 shows that the asus is faster. Check my other comment for the specs and scores I got on my asus. If you have the same specs then keep yours.
Would love some more details about screen quality and battery life. That’s a pretty small better. The Asus g14 has a 76whr battery in a smaller chassis.
@@davianalliers6853 seems heavily optimistic for that battery size lol. I also heard you can’t hook up a secondary display to run off the gpu? That’s a huge deal breaker for me.
PL1 Power Limit is 44w PL2 Power limit is 64w, it will sustain 4.8ghz on a single core forever. Will sustain 4.3ghz all core turbo in everything forever, except Furmark CPU burner, In Furmark is goes down to 4.1ghz. Max temp of 93c The RTX 2060 is limited to 65w and will hit max boost of 1815mhz for a short time settles in to 990-1000mhz with a max temp of 71c. The cooling system is amazing on this laptop really allows the 11th gen to stretch it's legs with no thermal issues
You can turn the lights on or off using a physical key (F8) on the keyboard. For changing the color, you just use the Dragon Center and pick from a color wheel
Nice video! Found the vid via search, watching now. Interested to see how this laptop compares to my MSI gs66 stealth I currently have. Edit: I think I'll keep my GS66.
