Why do we call captured Israeli soldiers "hostages" rather than "prisoners of war"? We do not call the Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russia as "hostages". These women IDF members as well as their male counterparts are POWs, not hostages.

I am from Sudan and I speak fluent Arabic and they said in the video the word "سبايا" it is a plural form of the the word "سبي" which means the soldiers hostages captured after the battle and by the way it goes for both men and women soldiers of non-muslims . You can just copy paste the two Arabic words above and check on Google you'll see all the possible meaning and you'll find none of them has bad connotation as this dude claims

I'm Lebanese and I speak arabic, "sabaya" simply means "young girls" (plural) and "sabiya" means "singular young girl ". I couldn't place it where and when it was said in the video, but that's what it means, it has no implications what so ever other then a gentle/polite reference to young girls.

Sabiyah( or Sabaya in plural) is used in everyday Midle eastern language just to mean young ladies or teenagers. It’s a polite Term used to reference all young ladies even you can use the terme Sabiyah when you call your sister and in no way refers to prisoners or pregnancy.

One small note to add Brianna, soldiers are not hostages, they're POW. Also, I'm sort of convinced that the Palestinan fighter only took civilians as well because 1. Last times Palestinan took soldiers as POW, to bargain for something, the Zionists outright killed them all. And 2. I just don’t understand how people could watch the videos from Oct 7 and think no women are getting graped over there. The level of violence, and how they celebrated it, filming themselves shows the hearts and minds of Hamas. They paraded around dead women and also a woman who was severely bleeding from her crotch area. (Technically it could just be period blood but they loved parading her around in her terror and misery. They certainly didn’t care if it looked like she had been graped). If you think people who are capable of such atrocities as blowing up dogs at close range, murdering people in their sleep, burning people alive aren’t graping women you’re completely naive. Hamas has tried to clean up their act on video anyways to look better since much of the world is painting them as the good guys, just resisting oppression and occupation. Israel is a tiny country surrounded by other countries of a religion that is hostile to them. They have to protect themselves also. I’m know there are atrocities on both sides and it’s generally a completely effed up situation. But to paint Hamas as sensitive and caring to follow the rules of war is ridiculous. Seems many countries have tried to help with peace talks and agreements. And time after time PLO didn’t take the agreement. Now there is Hamas.
