If you go earlier in July there will still be lots of snow. When I climbed in July 2010, the snow was still down to the treeline and my group used crampons. I've got Mt Adams on my list to climb again.
Dude, Don't express glissading as a "simple concern with and Ice ax" . If readers here do not know how to truly do a "self-arrest" with an Ice ax, both feet forward and be able to "turn around if upside down, head first and roll back over, the unexperienced can truly impale themself. I highly suggest learning first and practicing from someone that knows the technique. I've been an alpinist and "serious BIg wall climber for 50 years and still climb. I've seen stupid people do stupid stuff because they don't have the experience to know the literal pitfalls that can happen. Don't just be cautious, be smart and master your skill.
