The Borrowdale Bash is one of my go to rides when i just want to hit the lakes for a variety of riding terrains.
It circles Derwentwater taking in Ashness and Watendlath, taking you up over Birketts leap and down into Grange then up NHionister before you double back and ride up through the Castle Crag area for a crazy, rocky descent to the river which you essentiall;y follow back to the flanks of Catbells. There is a few miles of road after that taking you back to Keswick.
It was certainly cold, sub zero all day with a temperature inversion Lake District wide so i was lucky enough to spend a little time riding up above the clouds. Lake District MTBing doesn’t really get a lot better than this.
